Here's the situation with the Euro against the Dollar:

H21PnJG.jpg

The euro is now stronger against the dollar than it was last year when Sony raised their prices and it has maintained it's strength since it started it's recovery last September, but yet they are still raising prices in across the Eurozone.

US inflation (which is what will concern them), peaked in June of last year and has been gradually coming down since. This impacts how much it costs them to conduct business.

So yes, you are right when you said the market is "completely different", according to all measurable economic metrics it's better now than it was when Sony raised their prices. In fact, as a business they stand to gain more from doing these price increases now compared to when Sony did theirs. Funny that.
Then where is the price down in my country?
Food and other expenses are still on the roof here in the US.

Yeah for sure, people are going to be unsubscribing to Gamepass in DROVES with Starfield and Forza Motorsports on the horizon this fall... just wait. They're gonna have like three people left with an active subscription by the time the Game of the Generation lands. What were they THINKING!?
um - why would i subscribe to game pass now for a game 'on the horizon'? why not drop game pass, & simply re-sub when the game releases? easy enough, right?...

I'd be surprised if they didn't raise the prices. A lot of people will want to play Starfield and there's also Forza a month later. Having an Xbox and GP is the cheapest combo to make that happen.

They are still expensive here yes but they are finally starting to get better.
Yeah, places are starting to compete again, so sales are coming back. I did notice BOGOS disappeared for B2GO for a while. But I do see BOGO coming back as well as other competitive sales.

"peak inflation" does not mean prices go down. It simply means they stop rising as much.

All healthy economies typically run with a slight tick of inflation, it's just that when it gets noticiable on a month to month basis (as it has done over the last couple of years) that it becomes a problem.

The harsh reality, absent of a cataclysmic economic event (which would be bad, trust me you don't want this, you don't want deflation), the prices aren't ever going back down.

That is your choice.
For me, it's the only option to afford more gaming now.
I cancelled 2 streaming subscription in order to afford that though.

Honestly if all some of you are bothered about is AAA games, and dont play AA and Indies, i dont know why some of you even sub to Gamepass. Just buy the 4 or 5 AAA first party games we get a year.
Sure its still more expensive than Gamepass but if you're not going to dable and expand your gaming horizons, just dont sub to Gamepass.

Increasing the price of Series X is a smart move.
PS5 is so well ahead that anyone that wants to actually buy the Series X will buy it regardless of price.

Not to stray too deep into politics, but inflation is a serious bitch. If $2 per month is what it takes to keep GamePass where it is then so be it.

Ask your congress critters getting kickbacks from weapons manufacturers and pharma why your dollar spends for less than it did 3 years ago.
And shutting down the mom and pop economies driving small businesses, out of business, while allowing mega corp to stay open creating a wealth vacuum and increase to their already bloated footprints.
It's almost like we're all equal, but some people are more equal than others.
You be the piggie and I will be the doggie on this farm!

But, you can't get your hair done, only I can.
I will add one more zinger then I'll stop.

When they said, "stop the spread," they meant wealth. ;)

You're right. MS would suffer so much if they kept the price the same.
Why is always MS though that gets the shit?. Were you just as passionate when Sony announced the PS5 price hike?.
In fact i remember that thread well and MS was actually getting more shit in that thread for NOT putting up the price of Xbox, than Sony was getting for the price hike.

It will be the same thing when Sony inevitably puts up its sub plans.

"Microsoft hasn’t changed its Xbox Game Pass pricing since launching the subscription in 2017, and the company is keen to stress this isn’t related to its proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard. “These Game Pass price adjustments are not related to the Activision Blizzard deal, and are intended to match local market conditions,” says Perez."

I'm :messenger_tears_of_joy: cause its probably 100% true. My guess is this increase is due solely to Starfield and Forza. if they add a 70-80 billions dollar catalogue the price will go up again I bet.

No, still in limbo with more chances of falling apart than being approved. This price increase has more to do with Zenimax's acquisition.
Of course, sure that inflation does not affect MS and is only an excuse for Sony. 🙃🙃

Your mental gymnastics to find the evil reason in everything MS does never ceases to amaze. That is, if the acquisition of Zenimax has resulted in a 10% increase in GPass, according to you if it acquires ABK GPass it will increase 100%? 😂😂

Whoever thought that everyone except MS was going to raise prices on their products was kidding themselves. Sooner or later, given the global economic situation (especially here in Europe), the price increase was a fact, whether or not there was any acquisition. That said, the 10% increase in Gamepass is in line with the increase in % of game prices. In this regard, reason makes sense no matter how much you like it or not. It is the user's power to decide whether or not the subscription is worth it after the price rise.

This is a gaming forum. Both side shit on each other. Expect that a lot.

When PS has bad days, everyone flocks. Same thing with Xbox.

Anyone who told you that GamePass would stay $15 forever was lying to you. I don't remember the last time Phill said they didn't expect to raise the price any time soon, but it was at least a year ago.

Nobody thought GPU would stay $15 forever, $17 per month is still decent.

One of those is not 2.6 TRILLION DOLLAR company. Do you think at all before you post?

Has nothing to do with zenimax. They had them for almost 2 years now.
It's them adjusting to inflation like Sony did.

Both gamepass and PS premium will see price increases as time goes on.
They know that people like these services and won't get mad about 1$ increase.

Look at Netflix and streaming services.
The two are different in what they offer, popularity and arguably quality.

Netflix should never be mentioned in GP discussions.

Good luck MS.

From fire sales on the Series S to raising the price of the XSX. Cot Dayum...

Yeah, raising it right in time when a couple of heavy hitters set to launch.

Raising the price of Game Pass is just.... chef's kiss.

What are you talking about? Sony got a truckload of shit for their price increase. And no, they were not getting less shit for raising prices than MS was for not. Doesn't even make sense.
