I know Playground are great, but it will not look this good actually running. Definitely targeting 30fps which is fine. I expect a lot more artifacts around shadows and motion blur at launch, with a much lower internal resolution. It will still look incredible but nowhere near this good.

I assumed that you could create your own character? Either way, not the best character for PR. Typical western devs, they’re all walking the same boring path.

This is my point this company (and others) are making characters that are unnaturally and unrealistically ugly/misshapen/weird in a way that actually does not reflect reality. There is something between “sexpot” and “hideous troll from the depths” that the studios are missing. Like if you don’t want to make a sexpot just make a normal person.

Oh fun, we've already got the "characters aren't bangable enough" conversations going.

. . .also, the trailer was clearly impressive and if the actual beat to beat gameplay has that level of fidelity then FABLE is absolutely going to be a great game. However people don't want to see heavily curated machinimas (even if they are running in-engine and not a CGI movie), they want a mix of both to showcase what the game will actually look like in practice.

Like the art style is giving me major HWL vibes, just with the fidelity turned up even more (and as boring as that game was it does look really quite good), so we know this isn't impossible to pull off, but it would still be nice to confirm that the fluidity in these cutscenes is just as present in the regular gameplay.

A game can look great, until you pan the camera. This game has first person shooter gameplay which is terrible in 30fps. Then there is VRR- does it go that low on Xbox?

And lets be real, I highly doubt anything besides a high end PC GPU will push this to 4k if its as ambitious as you think.

Fable is running on the new Forzatech 2.0 engine which has been built from the ground up to take advantage of the XSX and DX12U extensions.
That means mesh shaders, Sampler Feedback Streaming and XVA.

The fact that so many people are crying "CGI", even after it was confirmed to be in game on a XSX, tells you just how stunning it looks.

This is going to be really interesting, just how many of these features are we getting and now they are being used are we going to see what this hardware can really do.
We'll probably learn more earlier from Forza Motorsport breakdown.

Why exactly would you not want the main character to be good looking?

It’s not a real person, you don’t have to defend the looks, or go on about how it’s the inside that matters and she has a heart of gold or whatever. Everything is fiction. It’s a 3D model, polygons, textures, shaders, some lines of code, a bio someone has made up and voice recordings. Nothing more or less.

So, pretty or not pretty, what would you rather take and why?

Goes for male characters too, main protagonist, a handsome hunk of a man or a fat slob?

Scenery in your adventure game, beautiful or ugly?

I’ll be honest I can’t even relate to this supposedly brave new world where somehow something fictional that looks good is bad and something looking bad needs to be defended or praised. It’s not like I would skip a game if the main protag is ugly but I always prefer eye candy no doubt.
