PSA: For the love of god turn off motion blur and film grain.

I’m in PS5 and it goes a loooooong way in cleaning up the IQ on Perf mode.

Early story spoilers:

RIP Ninth Sister. Cool comeback and nice head cut.

Also played a bit in Quality mode and seemed a bit more consistent and clean to my eye.

Probably the mode I'm gonna play until performance becomes more solid. Thinking of leaving Performance for my 2nd run.

Besides the performance issues, game is really good.

Nice way to start things off

Not sure how long it normally takes as I've never asked for a refund before but I refunded the XSX version and it was processed in seconds if that means anything.
Usually will have the money back on your card within the next day or so, sometimes sooner. I've had them process it and get the money back 3 or 4 hours later if its early in the day when I requested it.

I uninstalled the EA Play Pro version on PC, and my gameshare partner on console got his refunded as well. It's just not worth playing through this game in it's current form, this just isn't finished. I fell through the floor like 8 times today and watched the framerate go from 80-100fps down to 12fps too many times on my PC to where I don't even want the version you get to play for 15 bucks lol

Is this raytraced? Is that why the lighting looks so good and the performance is bad?
People are saying "Turn ray tracing off" but when doing so I didn't see any realistic boost in FPS Performance. I mean in one area where it seemed to get stuck at like 46 fps - when I turned ray tracing off it might have went to 49fps...then back down to 40 lol.

Watch the Skillup review I think it was...one of them show how the graphics settings barely do shit to improve the performance if you turn them down. Its just broken

Man Im really struggling with this combat, I cant put my finger on it but I just feel really disconnected from what I want to do and what the character is actually doing lol.

I keep trying to play this like Force Unleashed and I know this is a totally different style of game, but I just can't retrain my brain to do it any other way.

I feel like my force powers are always drained and kinda puny. Should be called Force Bound and Gagged.

it's a janky game

Thankfully the planet after the first main one with the hub seems a lot better performing in the quality mode on SX, but it’s a lot more linear and doesn’t have a customizable town hub, so not totally surprising.

Me, playing Jedi Survivor on Xbox tonight, as someone that always chooses Fidelity mode even if Performance mode is flawless:

oh wow, on the first planet after the intro mission, they added a pretty obvious homage to the walljump tutorial of Super Metroid 😅

it gets way worse than the first mission on that planet once you get to the actual open part

the amount of I/O stutters is crazy and the framerate basically drops to 30fps in many spots

That was for the quality mode (30fps) and it was perfectly stable for that planet up to the point I got to the next mission off planet (to be clear I’m talking about the one after the planet with the saloon).

I gave up on performance mode early on, the screen tearing and IQ was atrocious as well as having a more unstable framerate…If I had a VRR capable TV I might be singing a different tune on that however.

HOLY SHIT. Just finished the second time on Jedha. Wait until you see that set piece. My jaw was on the floor. 10,000x bigger than anything in the first game.

Comments on ps5 performance are just as variable as the frame rate. How does this performance mode compare to HZD? Is it like HZD at initial release or HZD now? Or other?

Man the first level was really bad stuttering wise. It was ok yesterday but today was rough. I just pushed through it but my goodness if that is what is in store for me in the open world I’m gonna just hold off and play dead space to make use of my ea membership.

That said, what a fantastic first level. Its perfectly paced. It shows just how well single player Story driven games can play without the need to have walking segments every five seconds. Mini boss fights, setpieces, great story moments, boss fights, constant new upgrades. Its perfect. Let’s hope Sony devs learn from this and RE4. You don’t need forced walking to tell a good story.

Until we don’t start speaking with our wallets things aren’t going to improve. You can witness in this same thread that there are tons of simps prone to justify a broken product because reasons.

Banned source. Usually doesn’t know what he’s talking about.
I see the banned source posted basically in every performance thread. Genuine question here: What does posting a banned source entails (a waning?) and how do I check the current list of banned sources?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Might be true in some cases but the picture is pretty self evident. Series S lacks the RT reflections while the others do.

Just .. just fucking follow what Capcom does and have a toggle. Don't force a visually taxing feature on the players if it means a notable drop in performance.

People were saying there’s no trigger haptics on PS5, but R2 definitely does for Force Push.
In this and the original game on Xbox they use trigger vibration without you actually pulling the trigger along with the regular rumble to pull off some pretty convincing pseudo-haptics, so they probably had a field day with the real thing.

I find a lot of the trigger stuff doesn’t even register with me on PS5 in general (I have to purposely slow down my trigger pulls to get any effect for the most part), so it would be good to see it put to better use.

Waiting to buy until I hear all your impressions on pacing

I'm not too rushed to buy this game due to the performance issues....and doubly so if the game is a slog to play though

Tag, you're it.
I totally get some traversal stutters on a 4090/i7 13700K/DDR5 @6200MHz/Firecuda 530 especially in the first open planet (I haven't gone to visit another level yet). Quite boring.
Other than that I'm having a blast. The story seems a lot more compelling so far and while there's some weird animation blending -mostly during exploration- you can't deny they've done an amazing on the way Call wields the lightsaber during fights.
The game is also super responsive so the combat is very satisfying

It's also a great looking game, full of details and playing in Jedi Master is no joke (that Rancor oh shit). Let's hope they can fixe the technical side quickly.

HDR totally borked on PS5, performance mode runs like total shit it's appalling.

Why the fuck can't these publisher's just let the Devs finish a game properly before releasing...

Seems like a good game but the performance is killing the game for me right now.

Just wait till you get to a certain rehash of a certain side-boss from the original, they turned up the difficulty a couple dozen notches.

I am 3.5 hours in. Game is very well paced. First mission is how all linear levels should be done. Great mix of exploration, combat, setpieces, story beats and bosses. Second level is your open world level but you can explore or just go do the story missions. I explored for a bit (its massive) and went to do the story mission. really cool story moments there.

The game is only 20-25 hours long if you only do story missions so its not going to be a slog like some of the other open world games. I think it's been perfectly paced so far, but I would not recommend buying this just yet. Performance is really incosistent. I am seeing drops to 40 fps in the open world level and they are your sudden drops from 60 fps so they really stand out. I cant even imagine how bad that level runs on consoles.

TLOU was more or less fixed this week. Took them a month but it was in a really bad state. Id say this will be fixed within a couple of weeks. The easiest fix on consoles would be to remove RT which should net them a lot of performance back especially since this game is CPU bound and RT has a pretty significant hit on CPUs.

Had to turn off ray tracing after reaching Koboh's town area. Not sure why that's so heavy as it doesn't look too different from the surrounding area.

Nah, the first game had the same issue. Its the dark souls stamina meter nonsense. Cal runs out of force powers like 2-3 moves into a battle, and after that its people shooting bullets at you and ganging up on you at the same time. Its very hard to do high level no damage runs in this game.

Now, the first game became extremely interesting by the end because you were fully leveled up and iirc, they gave you unlimited force use or something like that. it made the final few combat scenarios feel so much more fun. I have wanted to do a NG+ run on that game so bad because thats when you truly feel like a god.

Explore and level up your force meter. Combat will eventually kick in but you will have to thin the herd first. They throw too many enemies at you.

Cretinously credulous
Now have played 2 hours on PC (reached the second planet) and it has been a buttery smooth experience so far (PC, 5600x, 3080 10GB, Windows 11) and I hope it remains that way. Maybe the issue is with non-windows 11 OSes, as EA hinted at?

I didn't have any bigger problem with the performance on my end but wow, I can't bother with Star Wars anymore. Jedi this, jedi that, evil empire and stormtroopers... It doesn't have any depth. The very first movie in the 70s was hilarious and a solid adventure flick. Now It's all nostalgia, and this would get lower average score if it wasn't called star wars. And today with Disney by the wheel, it's got Marvel written all over it. The dialogue is awkward and fit for a young adult, or even younger.

The game crashed my PS5 3 times this morning. All on the first big planet. It’s shutting down the console completely and to turn it back on again you have to separate it from the power and plug it back in. WHAT THE FUCK is this?!?!
