Star Wars Jedi: Survivor |OT| - Judge me by my file size, do you?

It's currently performing better in performance mode on PS5 compared to Series X per this video

I was about to post this, situation looks dire on the XSX, and I know the PS5 version is not perfect, even still there is a CLEAR difference between them.

Anyone playing on the PS5 can comment if the game is stable enough to play? Need a new game for the weekend.

I mean, there is no use for adaptive triggers and I haven't noticed any haptic feedback beyond the normal use of vibrations. I might be wrong though.

surprisingly enough, the game uses the Xbox's Triggers pretty decently, which is rare in non-racing games.

when you hang from a pipe for example and climb along it, the triggers vibrate every time you go one step forward

Apparently it's 900p internal res in performance mode (I guess on both consoles?) then reconstructed to 1440p which I can believe given how blurry it is and how messy the image looks when you move the camera.
If its anything like the Dead Space 2 performance mode than its closer to 960p using FSR 2.0. 1440p halved.

And yes, FSR and even DLSS struggle to upscale from sub 1080p resolutions. FSR2.0 is good if you are upscaling from 1440p while DLSS can offer great results even with 1080p internal res.

FRS2 was a mistake...
Checkerboarding should have been the focus of devs for supporting upsampling on AMD cards, not this shitty wannabe DLSS.

DLSS 960p to 1440p looks great btw. in many games.

Now take a screenshot while you are moving. Then the picture will not look so good.

Played Horizon DLC at 40 fps. I am constantly blown away by how much smoother it feels compared to 30 fps. And constantly shocked by how few studios bother implementing 40 fps modes. I get that vrr tvs are rare, but devs really need to start future proofing their games.
If a game manages a stable 30 fps, it doesn't mean that it will also manage 40 fps.

Performance mode seems fine to me on series x. I guess it must be further in the game it goes to shit cos so far its been smooth sailing, and I'm a fussy fucker

the game drops into the high 40s on the opening mission.
and it has I/O stutters there too.

it's decent enough at 120hz with VRR tho.

That's encouraging. VRR coming to the rescue for another release coming in hot. VRR has been an incredible universal band-aid solution for this gen so far.

Playing the initial mission on PS5 and it performs...pretty decent.

There's the occasional stutter and framedrop here and there, but so far pretty damn smooth. Plus no HDR issues at all on my end.

Booted up the game and HDR worked from the get-go.

I'm still waiting on Koboh planet because it appears that's where shit hits the fan, but so far pretty damn smooth sail on performance mode with VRR enabled.

“In order for the team to hit the Respawn quality bar, provide the team the time they need, and achieve the level of polish our fans deserve, we have added six crucial weeks to our release schedule – Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will now launch globally on April 28th,”

Anyone remember this?

yeah, but in UE4 titles it's less robust of a solution than in something like Elden Ring sadly, because UE4 has its typical I/O stutters, and those are still very much noticeable

No too busy playing the game to troll the OT, sorry.

They weren’t lying, it’s just that Respawn Quality bar is unusually low.

Had the broken HDR issue on PS5 with my LG C9. What fixed it for me was going to the system HDR calibration and tweaking the black level to be one notch higher than 0 - "darker" toggle goes from disabled to enabled.

Decided to also turn on DTM instead of HGIG for this particular game and set the in-game HDR black point to 0 while leaving HDR brightness at default settings (50).

If I had to guess, when the system HDR calibration is set all the way to 0, the game is trying to tone map and hitting a divide by 0 error which would completely invert the colors.

I spoke too soon. 30 mins in and it runs like dogshit on series x. How can they have fucked this up, the first one ran lovely. Back to Stranded until a patch drops.

Wow, picked up the game against my better judgement and holy shit is it not nice on PS5. HDR issues + performance mode frame rate drops + game isn't sharp. Guess it's "hope this gets patched soon" time
The HDR issues seem to be a TV thing. No issues on my Bravia.

I've played a bit more and the IQ in performance mode is disgusting. It's blurry as shit when the camera is still but when you move the camera you also get loads of (presumably) FSR artifacting. The IQ is awful in Dead Space too but it's so dark that you actually won't notice 95% of the time but here a blind man on a galloping horse would see it.

Quality mode is ok but still pretty poor and I can't play games at 30fps anymore.

I shouldn't have listened to the talk of solid performance on the consoles and should have just bought the PC version as at least you'll be able to get clean IQ and the performance is shit on everything anyway.

I don't think even the 30fps mode is safe as I've seen it dropping to maybe 20fps (if I'm being generous - it's maybe high teens) on PS5 so maybe even worse on XSX if that video earlier is right.

Lot's of people trying to dunk on the PC version but the console versions feel like they are in alpha atm. I said the same in the PC performance thread that I think most people can't tell what the frame rate is (even roughly) without FPS monitoring software as Fextralife said that the XSX version is fine compared to the PC version while the reality is that it is a stuttering mess that averages 40-50 FPS and drops lower than that.

Is the game forcing you to log into EA servers to play? I can’t log into EA on PS5. Haven’t been able to get an answer up until now.

Yeah… I’ll pick this up in a few months.

I'm hanging this up until then as well. The game is honestly TOO GOOD to have it ruined by EA's need to get something out this quarter. Like everything so far in this game just works, from the story to the characters and even the combat feels really good. But I shouldn't be getting the below performance while literally doing nothing at 1080P on LOW settings on a 6800XT/5600X. . .I don't think.

. . .I don't think so. At least there's none of that on the PC (you obviously have to use Origin, but that's it).

All these cunts who reviewed it and hardly anyone points out how wank this runs. Funny how ACG, one of the very few who actually has a backbone to give an honest, review didnt get a code to review it. The games media is full of spineless shitbags really

Not sure how long it normally takes as I've never asked for a refund before but I refunded the XSX version and it was processed in seconds if that means anything.

Wow. What issues were you having? Is the 30 fps mode at least playable?

Edit: mvm Just read your post.

I don’t get how HDR is fine for some and broken for others. Wonder if it’s based on your tv. Anyone with an LG C1 OLED that can check if HDR is broken for this tv?

Works great on my end! No issues as of yet! Pc here.

Thanks for this, that was exactly the issue.
The game just collides with the lowest PS5 HDR darkness setting

From what I could experience it's playable, but far from a solid performance.

Weirdly enough as soon as I entered the senator room I could notice a considerable drop in frames. Image is also a bit blurry for my tastes, but I can tolerate it.

Here's hoping they can improve the games stability and performance in the upcoming weeks. I'll keep playing it... slowly.

Ffs respawn and EA. How do we allow this shit....

There needs to be some regulators that enforce studios releasing a shit product to the customer.

Glad I only paid 15 quid for it but I don't get it until Tuesday. Hopeful,t some emergency patches happen by then.

Three years of cross platform games is going to kill true next gen games that all hit at 30fps. The Starfield thread is going to be a bloodbath.
Yeah. No sympathy for these devs. They were lazy with their cross gen trash running easily at 60 fps and now people are rioting over 30 fps. Well done you greedy cunts.

The IQ is shocking. If it was locked 60fps or close to I wouldn’t really mind but I’ve seen it drop to the 30s. I’ll tolerate bad performance or bad IQ (I’ll bitch about it of course hah) but not both. There are really bad I/O stutters, texture pop-in etc too.

Fallen Order on XSX is still a horrible experience with tons of loading stutter and pop-in so I don’t trust them to fix it.

The 30fps mode seemed ok on the first level but dropped a lot in parts of the 2nd but overall it seemed fine tbh but I can’t play games at 30fps on a huge OLED anymore.

The game is all around better than the first performance aside so hopefully they improve things.

the game has fully fledged haptic + adaptive features on PC (and natually ps5

amount of force u need to push with r2 to pull or push people depends on their strenght

alot of cool haptic feedback effects

u can also assign shortcuts to touchpad

PS5 players any nice haptics or DualSense features?

Alright!

4090
7950x
32gb Ddr5 600

Yeah I know not the average hardware.

Went through the beginning up to the first save point.

Everything maxed out 4k with RT and FSR quality.

Runs on average between 80 and 120 (LG C1)
GPU usage is indeed averaging 85% usage.

Everything maxed out 4k with RT and without FSR

Runs on average between 70 and 90

Gpu usage is averaging 95-100% usage.

Game is fantastic looking and combat feels really smooth and cinematic.

Have some few stutters here and there but far from game breaking.

It is a demanding game but also like most recent AAA titles, it needs patching.

I’m just outside the planet and what I’ve experienced has been drops in frame rate on PS5. Other than that I don’t have any issues. Collision effects and turning at a certain time might be what I’m expediting in performance mode. Otherwise I’ve had a good time.

The major drops I’ve had in quality mode on SX was a cutscene transition near the beginning (which kinda seemed bugged TBH) and a few where I just opened up a passageway and ran through and it drops a lot of frames when transitioning to the next area. Running flat out in the more open areas or in the hub area can cause some fairly consistent frame drops but not massive. To me it’s rough but playable.

But yeah performance mode is one scruffy looking nerf herder.

I am a bit surprised at how little traction it's getting on Twitch. It's doing fine, but the big streamers are not getting a lot of views with it, and it's struggling to stay within the top 5 games.

The only way to make money on Star Wars on the Internet is to shit on it on YouTube.

Am I tripping or does quality on the series x look crazy good? Like performance not great but the graphics are quite amazing, the lighting in particular… at least in the first scene

EDIT: also is the gameplay better as well? I don’t remember the first one being this good
