You must be in this mindset that tv shows like this have to come out every year.

Even if LOUP3 came out in 2027, that would probably be fine for a show like this. With Season 1 coming out in 2023 and season 2 most likely coming out in 2025.
With the reviews this season is getting, HBO are going to be pulling out all the stops to get another season out as soon as possible to ride on the hype train and keep people subscribed to their service

Represent.

Represent(ative) of bad opinions
The only thing that bugs me out about this being an HBO show is... I subscribed to HBO yesterday for this show (Crave in Canada) and the quality of the streaming is ABSOLUTE TRASH. Like I was watchign Euphoria and that shit looks like a Pirated bootleg DVD. What the fuck.

The success of this show will annoy many.

I think people on here are vastly overestimating the amount of people who will be salty about this show's success. Most people who didn't like TLOU2 are likely happy to see the glowing praise the show is getting.

Matter of fact I didn't like TLOU2, but if I love Season 1, I'll look forward to Season 2. The idea of a TLOU2 Part 2 that could potentially be told with better pacing and writing? Hell yeah sign me up.

Gotta love how with this IP it’s like “I don’t trust reviews” lmao
With any IP reviewed by Hollywood critics it's "I don't Trust Reviews"
The IP has nothing to do with it when it comes to Hollywood.
Whether you like the IP or not.
That's something we all should agree on.

I still don't get why people doubted this was going to be good. I'm in the Druckman hater club but this was still obviously going to be good.
HBO is usually quality, it has talented people attached to it and it's a very straightforward to adapt franchise (grounded zombie apocalypse with a plot that's primarily about interpersonal drama).
It's not like they were attempting to make Kratos Vs Cronos on a TV budget while attempting to give both characters emotional depth.

As if that will be the end of your commentary on this show.

You clearly have an agenda here sir... and it's sad...
Not sure how you ascertained all that from one comment. You clearly want to argue with those who have an agenda though. If that’s what makes you happy, all the power to you.

No agenda here and I’m not sure what kind of agenda there is with this show. Glad it’s a good show and hope everyone who watches it enjoys it. Not for me as I’ve already played it out (is that an agenda to you?).

I remember reading a comment that said something like "They could've taken the cutscenes from the game and put them together and people would still complain about it".

Good thing this is getting nice reviews, but this kinda make me worried about the GoW show, lol. Will they also make something as good as this? let's hope so.

And it seems some people has already decided they don't like the show (even before we got any trailers I'm sure), I just hope they watch the series to give it a shot and not just to find something to complain about.

I would say that Uncharted was their first project.

TLOU is the first project released that began its life under PlayStation Productions. Uncharted was in the works for many years before PlayStation Productions was created. They got credited for it still, but it was not a 100% original PS Productions project.

So glad that this show kicks ass and ESPECIALLY happy that Bella Ramsey is getting heap loads of praise for her performance as Ellie.

Fuck those of you who picked on her casting and mocked her simply because she didn't look like what you wanted, which first of all is fucking weird as why do you want a 14 YEAR OLD to be attractive for you? Might as well just point to where your name is on your local offender's register.

I had some small doubts about her performance going off a few clips of her delivery in the trailers but I was fond of her work in GoT so was never too fearful of her not turning it around.

I don't think anyone has doubted that the first game wasn't excellent. The thing people hate is the second game and its stupid ass story telling. Here is to hoping HBO isn't fucking stupid and signs Pascal to a multi-season deal.

Looks like all those people who feel insecure and personally threatened by Druckmann despite never playing a Naughty Dog game are going to go into hiding for a bit.

The hate for Neil Druckmann is something that amazing to see. It's so sad and pathetic. But it's all part of the stupid cultural wars that many western countries are fighting now.

I don't trust reviews anymore after seeing review scores for stuff like Thor Love and Thunder (one of the worst movies last year, that received praise).

If they make another series, it will be based on the time inbetween the first game and the second game,
they are not going to kill Joel off at the start of season 2

And they are also not going to make a third season that carry's on the story from the second game, Naughty Dog will want to write the story of the next game themselves, not be bound to what a TV show decided happens
I could see this happening, but do you have a source?

Naughty Dog caught a bad hand with the leaks of TLOUP2 and the game definitely underperformed, but they've given the franchise a second lease on life and POSSIBLY a chance at hitting a larger demographic altogether and as a result of remaking the game they can market and advertise the franchise as a somewhat modern game to a new host of fans.

The trailer crossed 16 million and my guess is will get a boost over the next week or two as people start sharing it around again. Definitely has potential to be HBOs 2nd most popular show to Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon.

The funny thing about it is that people are genuinely going to be angry about this due to their agendas.

I'd say selling 10 million units in the first 2 years is pretty good. People have forgotten that the first game was helped by being remade on the PS4 soon after release.

They're angry because they see it as replacement theory, not just because a main character was killed off.

I'm scared to ask what is "replacement theory"......but what does that mean?

I hate almost everything story-wise about TLoU2 but I'm going to watch this show. My problem with the franchise is the second game being ruinjohnsoned, the first game is great. And that includes the LGBT-focused story of the DLC.

There's no reason to hate a first season that matches the story of the first game. If they start the second season by gratuitously killing Joel through an uncharacteristic carelessness at the hands of a gender-reversed Popeye and then they have a bunch of episodes focusing on the drama of a trans person being "dead-named" in a post-apocalyptic world where people should worry about food and deadly diseases, only then will I hate it (i.e. stop watching and whine about it on forums).
How could the 2nd game be RuinJohnsoned went the same person wrote it? The 2nd game's story was meant to be what it was.

The most amazing thing is you think your mentality is any different to Resetera mobs

100% agree. Many on GAF have the same mentality as Resetera. It's just the opposite political direction.

Here at GAF, when we hate we must hate with purpose. We're not animals who hate through a wide brush. We're not resetarded.

Not hating through a wide brush while summing up TLoU2 via trans and muscular woman grievances, when the actual amount of plot lines in the game that explicitly talk about those topics are like... what... 5% of the script maybe? Probably less? :messenger_ok:

When I heard they got the same creator as Chernobyl to work on this, I knew the chances of it failing would be small. Also having Neil Druckmann to oversee the whole thing was smart, TV often likes to heavily deviate from source material and ruin the whole thing (The Witcher) so having someone like Neil there to keep them on track is good. The cast is packed with really great and proven talent too. Overall, I'm not surprised by the positive reception and look forward to watching it myself.

I doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised if this was "two and done" (no idea if Season 1 is the first game and Season 2 will be the second game or even how the second game ends); HBO has done this before with shows, so unless there's a good reason to keep the show going I doubt they will. Look at WATCHMEN - the game picked up massive steam on its way to its finale, and they could have done another season given how the season ended, but they went "one and done" with that.

Queue the angry incels who will probably review bomb the show.

Lots of people are going to be angry about this for a litany of reasons.

Chalk this up as a major win for SIE, Naughty Dog, and PlayStation Productions.

So many people asked why they remade TLOUP1 and we're about to find out over the next 3 to 6 months whether this was a good idea or not.

Speaking on trailer views...they aren't that different from most House of the Dragon's views...and this oen doesn't have the hype from another successful TV show as well.

I have a feeling this could be HBO's new hit if they play their cards right.

I kinda wished they would cancel Westworld after the first season. It was absolutely perfect.

One of the best things about this is that it’s a good indication for Sony who to collaborate with when it comes to adapting their IPs. HBO is by far my favourite of all the big streaming services so I’d be happy to see them collab in the future. I get the sense that they had a hunch also since they chose to go to HBO with their arguably biggest IP.

I guess we’ll ser how the Netflix Horizon series will be recieved but I think this will be a hard bar to reach.

Didn't expect anything less than excellence...the game is already "cinematic" so it's easier to translate to screen given the proper treatment...I cant wait.
