I like the game a lot, but i wish it had a better end game. After like my 5th run it became too easy followed by the unsatisfying insta-death every time (via Death).

The stage appear to just loop around but there are sometimes events if you continue on. I forget which item unlocks your ability to see where things are on the map. I did get this secret but I can't remember if I stumbled onto it or was intentionally trying to unlock it.

I've got the thing that lets me see items on the map, but that hasn't helped me there so far.

There's also one on stage 1 where you're supposed to get 2 items then "Follow the path" that didn't have an obvious path, but maybe I misread which order the items were listed in at did the pathless one first. I'll experiment some more next time. Thankfully there's some fast characters, so in hyper mode you can really dart around the map.

I havent played the game a lot like others, but garlic seems good to me. If you can get lucky maxing out Santa, Garlic and Bible (which I did one time), the monsters couldnt even get near me. It was the easiest 30 min session I had while the others always seemed to be a close call.

Then again, maybe garlic isnt bad per se. Just underpowered compared to other maxed out items.

Garlic is good on the 1st 2 maps getting to the 30 minute mark. While still usable, wasn't as great on the Dairy Plant for me.
I'm going to work on finding the items to evo Lancet as at high levels that will probably save me more than garlic and probably survive the reaper as well.

I pretty much make the 30 minute mark without a problem now, but die or almost insta die to the reaper. The longest I lasted against it was maybe 10 seconds max
My go to items to evo is the bible books, axe and wand. I'll also take the lightning ring because of the duplicator because it mutiplies your projectiles that include the book, axe and wand (not sure about wand).

Game is great, but I do wish it had more modern graphics and effects. That might be a too taxing on the system I guess given the number of enemies on the screen and probably has more to do with coming from a small dev than system limitations.

I don’t remember toggling a setting for this so maybe try that? Otherwise I think the 5-item chest won’t skip until you’ve put in some time (50 hours should be enough, I would think?).

I just got to a little over 32 minutes before 2 reapers got me. After 31 minutes a 2nd one appears.
I wonder if I got to 33 mintues would a 3rd appear.

I think the level 8 laurel and lancet along with evolved garlic and bible let me survive long enough in the end to get that far past the 30 minute mark.
Got 9 achievements from that run alone, but was mainly trying to get to level 80 in the Gallo map

Or should discussion of other similar games be talked about here? Would love to mention a few that are just insane and amazing, just as much as VS. And what is this genre even called? I've been calling it Roguelite Reverse Bullet hell.

Switching to Xbox I can skip if I change up what button I’m smashing, still seems random but it’s happening.

The 5 at once one did get the ability to skip. It was in the 1.0 patch, if memory serves. It doesn't unlock until a certain amount of play time that was unspecified in the notes.

Can anyone help me with my question? I have got 127 out of 129 items in the Collection. And I have 138 out of 139 unlocks. But they seem mutually connected, can't unlock Queen Sigma without completing the collection and can't complete the collection without playing as Queen Sigma.

EDIT: I just used the spell (cheat) to unlock Queen Sigma but there must be a way of doing it without resorting to this.

Im still new to the game, but it was fun discovering how the Clock Lancet works. And used it to maneuver round and round in a huge blob of skeletons guys. No garlic, just walking right through the frozen enemies in a circular motion and picking up a ton of exp on the way. Made it to 13 minutes with that. But still need to farm a bunch of gold for the powerups.

Played the guitar guy last night finally.... Ugh. Finally found a weapon I just couldn't get my head around or enjoy.

The other comment about garlic is true - it's a trap. It doesn't scale, and I also found the whip also doesn't scale well so can be skipped.

If find the birds to be the most effective.

Garlic evolved isn't so bad, but bible book evovled is better.
Depending on the character, garlic can be good getting good exp quickly against low tier enemies like bats.

The freezing items is really really good once it is highly leveled, but not great at the first few levels for me.

Question for those that have unlocked the map during the pause screen. I see question marks on the map, but when I get there, I don't seem to be able to find whatever is there. Is there a way to find whatever is supposed to be there. Do I just stay in that area til something happens or is there something specific I need to trigger?

Nice, I just downloaded it on XSX, I forgot I put a lot of time into it on Game Pass PC and I got a bunch of achievement unlocks from the get go.

I did it with Krochi because his base stats have fast walking speed.

Some weapons to consider upgrading is the dagger.
At even near max its godlike. It helps you move forward.
Any stronger and you're just mowing the lawn.

I was able to boosting my whip to ungodly proportions. It was kind of an accidental build but I somehow was able too. It works similar in clearing a path.
