Forspoken - Deep Dive: Exploring Athia | PS5 Games

In before:
Looks bland, empty, boring, no life, no soul, protag won't shut up, don't like her voice, too woke, worst game ever and will fail.
Metacritic 50.

Lol so many forced nitpicks about this game(most of which don't even make any sense) yet no one can actually manage to nitpick it's gameplay(which is most important). That's how you know this is going to be a banger.

Okay, I have to ask: what's with all these trailers these days giving us the elevator pitch?

If you're not sure what I mean, it's the whole:

"In the world of LAND, you will explore the ANCIENT RUINS ..."
"Welcome to GAME. In GAME you will battle BADDIES and earn new ABILITIES."

Sounds like it's made for the masses, and something you'd attach to a crappy mobile game.

Am I sounding like Old Man Yells At Cloud yet..? :)

This game is absolutely nothing like ubisoft game besides it being a fantasy open world lmao.
This trailer shows otherwise, filled to brim with generic busywork activities in the great tradition of Ubisoft: The Game

Ubisoft games have bad mechanics
Generalization, some Ubi games have great mechanics (FC2, first Watch Dogs, Splinter Cell Blacklist)
And yes, I criticize those busywork aspects in those games you mentioned too

Combat challenges look good, but everything else to do in the world just seems too basic. Hopefully those are just minor activities and the side missions are more fleshed out.

Still day one though as gameplay looks fun.

Literally EVERY AAA open world has those side quests and errands lol. Not just Ubisoft. Witcher 3. Horizon. FFXV. The list goes on and on and on. Are ubisoft games the only open world games you play?

And the combat alone is worlds more different and also superior to Ubisofts crappy button mashing arkham ripoff combat. Ditto for traversal with over a dozen different ways you can move about expressively in the open world rather than either running or riding a horse.

Jeez, this game can't get a break. People complain it feels empty so they add more stuff to do and then people complain that it's now a "generic ubisoft busywork game".

This looks bland. I see an art style they were trying to achieve but never quite hits the mark. The graphics fall into that weird realm semi-realistic odd looking aesthetic like Mario Odyssey's first level, Sonic Frontiers, and too many other games to count. Black levels are crushed and it's too contrasted. Then, of course, they threw cats into the game because weebs love cats. The world lacks good design and overall it looks rather boring.

I think people need to start being less tribalistic and learn to listen to each other before throwing out accusations because while I see great things with this game, I also see obvious flaws. Ever since a few years, everything either has to be the absolute worst and anyone who likes it is demonized or the game is a 10/10 and anyone who makes any kind of criticism is a troll, or any other generalized accusation that doesn't fit everyone.

The exploration aspect of the game simply does not appeal to me in the slightest and I hate the narrative that if I don't like parts of the game I am a part of this tribe or that and I'm just hating, when I do like certain aspects (I actually like the main protagonist and like the premise), but some parts of the game give me the same busy work vibes I get from most open world games. The game is simply not for me. Doesn't make the game objectively bad, but for ME, I see a lot here that "I" find bland. The world feels lifeless and static. Little real interaction with the environment and environmental storytelling. NPC are just there to give you stuff. They don't exist outside of you unlike NPC set in games like Zelda BotW or other Immersive Sims.

Personally, I think the art direction is all over the place and it doesn't mix with the RPG stat-based gameplay. Hyper realistic models and assets with arcade-y like gameplay gives me major uncanny valley feels. I hope the game is successful and people waiting for it enjoy it, but the two extreme sides of either hating or defending media is getting really exhausting. People obviously look for different things in games.

Forget all the other POI dotted along the map and just make 5x as many well designed labyrinths with all the upgrades hidden in there instead of on the overworld behind a press button to receive randomly shaped asset and your game will be worth playing.

Not true... some of us actually have issues with the gameplay, to note, that it is a simple "list" based magic system instead of a combo based magic system which means it'll be 0 skill, all spam.

Forspoken: Bedazzling

It’s like they are unsure if this will make a $$ return and decided to cut the budget midway so direction focused on making some flashy moments and flying traversal mechanic filled in with non stop banter then handed it to marketing who is not entirely sure to whom nor how to market this.
