And now for some of the juicy bits.

$99 seems like the ideal price for something like this, especially in light of how over priced that recent Logitech cloud device was.

$100 with a controller would be a great price for it. If it's true that they launch this with the ability to stream your owned games, they might just have a full Stadia replacement out before that service gets axed.

I wonder what delayed this thing from last year?

I see two possible prices.

Sell a year of GamePass for $150 and give the stick for free.

Sell the stick for $150 which includes a year of GamePass.

Who knows which it will be. It's up to the accountants at Xbox now.
$150 with a controller and 1 year of Gamepass?
Yo.
Thats actually a damn good deal.
Had I needed it I would jump on.

xCloud owned games hasnt launched yet.
Then again I guess whenever they announce this thing they can also announce owned games.

Why this has a chance where everything streaming failed is because this comes as an added benefit of gamepass.

I'd say the biggest differentiator is that the ecosystem Xcloud is part of doesn't rely on it. It doesn't matter if just a few million users are using Xcloud as their primary access to the ecosystem, they'd still have access to the library that exists because of the success of the console platform itself. Shouldn't be nearly the uphill climb in regards to getting content on there in comparison to stand-alone options.

I've been told before that server placement is super important so maybe there isn't one close to me and my internet speeds don't matter but its still not in a place thats acceptable imo if that's the case.

If the rumor of being able to stream your Xbox on it is true, then that is great, especially if it can be all within the local network like you can with streaming Xbox to PC. This will enable you to use a second TV with your Xbox without having to buy a second Xbox. If it is 4K HDR with that, then I will buy one for sure and then won't need to buy another Xbox Series X for my house. Then, being able to stream xCloud games and other media services will also be a bonus.

I don't see this being a huge win until they get cloud streaming better, but it still has the potential to sell plenty.

I have done some PS Now streaming, and have no issues with it. I haven't tried xCloud yet. I could see having one of these to bring up to our cabin instead of buying or hauling another Xbox console up there. My wife on the other hand, she wouldn't give me an approval face.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

They haven't formally announced the family plan outside of the 2 pilot nations yet either.

I fee like all this is going to be part of a big singular announcement.

"Introducing game pass family plan, and you can enjoy it using this $99 streaming device, plus you get to play all your owned games on cloud not just what's on game pass"

That's too big for a stick. Doesn't your tvs comes with xcloud? Why do you need this for?

It's not a stick, it's a puck like the newer Roku devices. And not all TV's have Xcloud and this has more functionality than the TV app.

Have a look at this page. It might give you a rough idea.

I don't think the owned games thing is coming soon unless you mean in a limited scope. No way they are putting every game up on server blades. I could see it being a limited selection though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them give these away as well.
This.

It's probably the best idea, but only with a two year plan or more. There are still many prejudices about cloud gaming, so give the hardware for free and pay the service only could be a good deal for the hesitant. But while it's true the console is useless without the service, the pad usually cost 60$, and I think it's just too much for a 1y subscription.

Would $99 work ?

It comes with a $60 controller with it. Seems like a decent price for that if you want a streaming device.
No.

I already have controllers. If they're not selling it separately then is a big no.
If it happens to be true, they wouldn't have learned nothing from the Kinect fiasco that almost sends the entire Xbox brand underground.

There is that too. I like to use Geforce Now but wouldn't mind using Xbox's keystone as well. The price is not really a problem in my case.
Didn't mean price. I meant in terms of bulk to pack and carry. Just take a hdmi cable for your phone and you can play GFN or xcloud or whatever you like really.

They will prob sell it with and without a controller, $50/$100, throw in a trial of GPU either way.

They wouldn't need every game on each blade, but it probably would add some additional time to the launch on non-GP games. They'd have to grab a copy from a local server and copy it over there, which isn't going to happen in an instant on a 100GB game. Would need many petabytes of storage to pull it off, but I guess it can be done. It's possible that the blades running the games aren't using local SSD storage anyway, with that being replaced with fast network attached storage or something like that.

This is what I understand. I live less than 40 miles from the main Azure hub in Tampa, FL, and Xcloud's lag is barely noticeable on my average broadband connection. I fired up Halo Infinite on it for shits and giggles, and it played just fine.

Makes sense.
They might have another showcase before end of year *crosses fingers
Otherwise they will probably use the Game Awards to pimp this stuff out.
Probably wont get as many cheers as announcing a new game, but im gonna be hype.

Where do you supposed the games are currently kept?

I would definitely buy it at that price, and it includes a controller? So I'm basically paying 50-60 EUR for the device itself. Every other weekend I'm on the road, this would definitely come in handy. Might prefer Remote Play over xCloud though.
