God of War Ragnarök | New Trailer - State of Play | PS4, PS5

Also, TLOU 1 played a huge part in GOW 2018 having a more emotional, heartfelt Kratos and a deeper story as well. But stay ignorant lololzzzzz

Well shit, I hope Xbox has some equally awesome stuff lined up.

So sick and tired of how this year went. We're slowly getting out of the pandemic. There should be some killer games to look forward to so PS, Nintendo and Xbox should get on with it. Give us something to get excited about.

Let's see them GAMEZ !!

Getting some good Biomes in this

- Dwarf Steampunk land
- Fairy Realm
- Outerspace Zone

That’s not even counting what they haven’t shown off like Asgard

Feels like a super Mario game

Report me if I continue to console war
And to think they only showed us the Kratos bits in the trailer, he's gonna die in the Thor battle. Atreus will take over as lead for the rest of the game :messenger_smirking:

Time skip.. Loki vs Odin final boss battle.
That would be great. But we have been spoiled now if it is true 😭

I wish it was coming out on pc at the same time as the ps5, I'll have to buy it first on ps5 then again on pc when it gets down to an acceptable double dip price.

So have me exactly where they want me with these delayed pc releases.

It looks great!
There is so much I wish when it comes to the release. Couldn’t be more excited about the game than I am right now but Sony’s release strategy is annoying the hell out of me.

I could jump in day 1, but then why am I subbing to PS+ Premium? Just to play third party games? or to play games I never would’ve bought anyway? Makes the service lose it’s appeal for me.
Why can’t they put all 1st party releases into the Premium sub?

As it is I’m considering buying some beastly physical edition instead just to feel like I get something I won’t get ”for free” next year. But having to insert a disc whenever I want to play it will annoy me.
I don’t know what to do 😞

I know this sound too ambitious for a cross gen game but what if the wolf chasing sun is a game mechanic.
I don't know what that for but i would do that all day lol.

The environments look so varied and beautiful.

I'm super pumped for that Thor vs Kratos battle. Idk if it beats Kratos vs Baldur (the surprise factor made it memorable), but this has potential to be one of the best bosses in GOW history.

The Mjolnir and Kratos' Axe clashing was just perfect. I honestly haven't been this excited for a game after watching a trailer in a while. I guess I still love games but these kinds of games are far fewer now.

My money is on Kratos dying,I'm sure they'll handle it well and give him a really good one unlike a certain other beloved father figure.
Not really a twist and been done already in the last trilogy. Everyone has been calling this since the last game was announced. Kratos not dying would be a twist at this point tbh.

The trailer is fucking beast.

They were correct to hold off on showing it lol

Day 1. Not many day 1s for me this year, but this one deserves it.

"Have you ever had people worship you? Pray to you?” damnnnnnn, I love that they are questioning his title of "GOD" of war, as if him killing gods didn't mean he took their place in regards to worship, respect etc. So far I'm loving this story, lore that questions Kratos as a person, a man and a god.

This is how you do reboots and maybe before this it was unknown if such a reboot was even feasible so deep in a IPs life, this shit has legit become the standard of God Of War lol I've never seen something like that happen with any IP thus far. Like reboot after a decade plus, sales top the whole fucking series to become the default lol

ParaSeoul ParaSeoul Different IP, different tone etc. I felt it was handled really well in The Last Of Us 2 as the world is raw, unforgiving and cruel, it has no exceptions just cause you like someone, thats real life, its not a Saturday morning cartoon show lol It allowed you to feel what Ellie felt, feel like you didn't have enough time to say goodbye etc, it was fucking brilliant as all that was able to be channeled to tell a wild story about revenge, but also about selfishness and being honest with ones self. Joel lied to Ellie to protect her, Ellie lied to Jesse and Dina to Protect Joel's honor, she knew why they came from him and knew their reason where just and that her seeking revenge was not for a person that was a good person, but a person that likely had it coming as she her self is upset and angry at him for lying prior to his death, as in she knows why they came to kill Joel and her plight is selfish one, just like Joel's was... the mirroring, parallels. It was a brilliant story told in a brutal way. Abby's plight is just as selfish dragging everyone else in too, to then mirror Tommy at the end saying "I have a lead" is just amazing story telling as he is now become Abby and Ellie has become Owen.

They can do Kratoes in and have his son seek revenge and I'd still love that shit lol If its a great story, I don't care. I don't fucking cry over pixels. they are not real, with revenge, no one is owed a peaceful death and the best a studio can do is respect the world they created, not sugar coat a death like a fucking cartoon for you feelings man.

The world comes before any one character, even the main character. How can even care about the IP if we have such self serving deaths? lol So I'm ok with how they do him in, so long as its true to the world and lore that they built and with a IP like God Of War, him dying at this point is a fucking staple of the IP, you'll just play him in the credits killing them valkryie bitches in Valhalla lol

Have a good one, conversation for another night I suppose.

Kratos died and came back,Kratos actually dying and having no reason to come back or being unable to would be a good twist

We all know Sony will find a very good reason to bring Kratos back again in 10 years. And that is awkward. It's best not to put themselves in that situation.

It would be smart to have Kratos and Atreus go separate ways due to difference of ideologies. We can follow Atreus' journey from there onwards but bring an even older Kratos into the fold when the plot requires it.

The first game heavily implied the repetition of the vicious cycle of sons killing father. It has been implied Kratos will die in this very trailer. A good twist would be it not happening. Just my two cents on the plot.

Facts.

I love how that worked in the first game as the open world felt like what we used to get from Zeldas back in the day. That sandbox type world where each area had purpose and wasn't just there to be there.

Like if you go in some area and do a puzzle, you get them runic stones or fight a mini boss, or hear some lore from Atreus as he alone can read and his father failed reading in the 3rd grade lol I do like that they make it where he reads all that though.

If they do it won't be Santa Monica doing it. They're done with the series and are trying to give it a send off. It makes sense to me they'd do it. I know from a publishers POV keeping around your recognized brand is a no brainer and thats why they'll probably reboot it. Them pulling off the tonal and gameplay shift in the 2018 game will probably not be able to be replicated again. I'd rather have the series have an ending here.

True, but you could still continue the series with Atreus killing him and him becoming the God Of War himself.

The first game foretells it will be him to take his life, for all we know Kratoes doesn't want his son to be hunted down or killed because of him or something and offers his life knowing his son will be a God after or something. Speaking of parallels, it foreshadows his death maybe more then even the first Last Of Us game foreshadows Joel's death.

I personally wouldn't mind it either. I had come to terms with Kratos' end with Gow3.

We all know how it panned out for Santa Monica without God of War. They had to bring Kratos and GOW back to be relevant again.

Maybe Kratos' journey end here but I don't think the franchise ends here. It continues with Atreus.

You can but I want to see how they'd get to that point honestly, gotta be something huge for that to happen.

But his son is a God already.

I don't think Atreus kills Kratos. Kratos killing Atreus makes more sense. The twist could be, it wasn't Atreus at all that he kills. Since he is the God of Mischief.
