The lack of detail makes me think they aren't actually adding any of the new gameplay mechanics from part II into the remake. Which us a shame, but if they weren't going to rework a lot of the levels I can understand that.

PC will sell decent numbers but I'm not sure on the PS5 version. I just don't think there is huge appetite for it. For collectors and upgrades, probably a fair number will but with no discounts for owners of previous versions or upgrade paths they would have to bundle Factions with it, or package closed beta access with it I think.
This was on the Direct site.
“faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat.“

Hmm, I feel like TLOU Remastered will go down as the definitive version. This has that TLOU2 stank on it
Lol wut? All graphic horny boys should like the Part 1. Remastered feels very dated even on PS4. Its something with the graphic and animations that feels very PS3 like. Compare it to Uncharted 1.

Hopefully the AI has been reworked and we can have gameplay scenarios similar to the infamous and uber scripted E3 2012 gameplay demo.

Not quite sure from the trailer, is it on par for you with tlou2, worse or better looking? I really hope it's at least tlou2 level.
There's no doubt in my mind it will look better then TLOU2 except with the possibility of character models and fidelity on them. The level designs was already done on PS3 so theres only so much prettier they can make it even if its remake for PS5. TLOU2 level design was done completely from scratch with PS4 hardware so yeah, they pushed the realism of the world ridiculously with that. Just wait for Part 3 PS5 exclusive its gonna blow your socks off.

Well she's like the main character of the story so there's that. I'll just tell you a story about a game journalist that edited Ellie out of a magazine cover, which resulted in Druckmann confronting him why he did that. That should speak for itself.
I’d consider Joel the main character and Ellie the central plot point 🤷

that’s like saying Atreus is the main character in the new good of war…. He’s not.

Sure she's the central plot point. Since Part 2 is mostly about her and Part 3 will aswell (i'm presuming) so yeah, it makes sense she's featured prominently on the cover.

It's a fucking joke and waste of time. Sony selling the same shit over and over. Why waste ND on this?
Because they literally just had to move around assets from TLOU 2 that were already made(in addition to flashback scene models) and add the gameplay from 2. The voiceovers and cutscenes are already done. It's all already done. That makes for a very fast turnaround time, like Jak 2 to Jak 3 or Uncharted 2 to Uncharted 3. If their next game after the multiplayer is another mainline Last of us game, expect it in about 3-ish years.

Am I to assume this will play more like TLOU2 and the fighting arenas will be restructured? Because imo the 2nd game plays so much better than the first game when it comes to combat. The 1st game feels archaic in comparison.
Dont know what game you were playing cause what I recall is the combat being somewhat similar. Hell there's probably more shootouts in first game, second plays more like stealth game on grounded. Most notable additions in Part 2 was grass and prone mechanic, and dogs (dont recall them in 1st?). I think I prefer 1st games gameplay but I could be wrong

You need to play the first game again and not go based on memory. Even the way the characters move is way better in TLOU2.
When TLOU2 came out I played TLOU1 before it's release, then played TLOU2, then played TLOU1 again.

Well duh of course character moves better or more realistic in part 2, Wouldnt be surprised if they did mo-cop for the movement in Part 2, and just animated the movements on-hand in 1st game. I hope they do mo-cop movements in this Part 1 remake tho.

- Shot-by-shot, 1:1 remake, with absolutely nothing new but better visuals. Not even new camera angles or different takes of the same scenes.
- Part II running on a base PS4 looks better.
- No Abby.
- No ND controversy.

0/10. But will buy day one because of the drought this gen, and because this is one of my favorites of all time.

What do you mean no Troy Baker? They replace Joels VA in Part 1?!

I thought I heard a different voice than Baker's the first time I watched the trailer. Now I watched it again carefully and it does sound like him. My mistake. It seems they redid the dialogues because they sound different than how I remember.

Duh?
If you agree that the characters move differently in the sequel than you should be agreeing that the combat was majorly upgraded. Otherwise it's like saying Gran Turismo 1 and Gran Turismo 3 play the exact same even though the handling mechanics were vastly improved.

So the strategy going forward is to keep releasing the same games with better graphics?

Gotta get those GTA5 numbers some kind of way, I guess.

Modern gaming suck.

Nah dont think the combat itself is much different because the animations are improved.. it looks better tho and hope they implement similar animation set in Part 1

Changing animations changes the way the game plays and feels........

So I watched the comparison and the trailer. While a majority of it looks good, I can’t help but feel like some of the textures are lacking detail in the remake compared to the PS4 remaster.

kJKgdBg.jpg

Ellie’s jacket to me looks more detailed on the PS4 version, with more defined features like creases, the rear and more snow/debris on it. Even the snow in her hair.

The bag and her t shirt seem more detailed here.

Otherwise I think it looks pretty good, not paying £70 for a game that’s a remake of a remastered PS3 game, that doesn’t even have all the features of the original and remaster.

Fuck that, I’ll pick it up during a sale.

Bruh pretty sure they aim for realistic clothing. Do you see much detail in your own clothes? Well I don't. Remastered version looks like it enchances the details similar to what sharpness does on TVs. If you think that looks better well, sucks to be you

I think some are forgetting most of the cinematics in the original game and the remaster were prerendered cutscenes not gameplay/real time. And it seems that now with the remake they'll be real time cinematics just like in TLOU 2, that's what impress me.

It's just Venom Snake facing right 🤷‍♂️

They should have just used the Shinkawa art on this game too.
I think it's good, but would be better without the little Joel.

But, I still hate the black/white PS5 logos still being on those blue boxes.
Joel moodily in the background whilst brandishing that revolver is some gangsta shit. You can tell he's been through some stuff.

Lol, no it doesn't. You don't honestly think that up-resed PS3 game looks better. Look at the comparison shots and stop lying to yourself and us.
Read my previous post.

I hope they nail the new animations during cutscenes

I love the game, but what really made it special were the performances.

Changing facial expressions can change scenes entirely, making them less emotional and etc.

That ranch cutscene in particular is risky
Don't think you need to worry, I think druckmann said they could even better animate the facial expressions etc in this Part 1 from the mo-cap performances they did when first game was released. Unless the development of this game was outsourced to some other studio, I trust ND
