Gran Turismo 7 Deep Forest gameplay

Flashless at the Golden Globes
Not only are the Horizon games open world, but FH3 came along in 2016 and wiped the floor with DriveClub.

Anyway on topic, the lighting is really nice but the presentation is let down by the environment (trees, foliage, etc).
Who said anything about fh3?

Everyone improves their engine after the first game of the gen. See tlou2 compared to uncharted 4, gears 5 compared to gears 4 and horizon to know shadow fall. If there was ever a DC2, it would’ve received a similar upgrade in visuals.

Sorry, I should've explained myself. It's an official screenshot and the environment looks terrible. It could be the color palette or the time of day, but this was selected as a bullshot and it really looks 'off'.
you say looks terrible and yet you don't know why.
Do you have a reference on how it supposed to look ?

shame they didint showed what could be most impressive looking part , nights races and rain on night racers, if those things will be together... because there are still some things GT cant touch F7 as that has rain and nights and puddles and rain at night and lighting at night... and dust flowing on tracks... many stuff could still be added to racers even of they clean and on tracks so grass dont grow on tracks really or around.. but other details can be added. as even if you GT fan when you try F7 with all that weather and nights... its great .. its just need go to next gen level.
im just afraid kazu is not into all those things , so we might not see that in game after all ... sunny and dry clean tracks maybe be what will be main thing.

Looks good but also washed out. Where is the contrast?

Exactly, there's just something missing that makes the environment look flat and washed out compared to the cars, which is especially noticable at the very beginning before the first corner, where the trees in front look lika a huge single texture, which after getting closer obviously isn't the case. Other than that it looks great, so let's hope PD will be able to fix the lightning of the tracks, at least on the PS5.

Yeah, it looks like Halo Infinite from 2020, terrible, actually in February 2022 Assetto Corsa Competizione is receiving a next gen upgrade and it will be the absolute best on PC

Lmfao. Halo wish to look this good. I have assetto corsa 1.8 installed on my pc. Doesn't look close to this.
If you think this shadow's pop in are bad. ACC full buildings are disappearing.

I made this gif back when the game was shown at the September PS Conference. It looked extremely dated.

MAeLMe0.gif

Whats interesting is that the gif below shows how good this game can look. It is a prerendered sequence from the same trailer. Likely part of the game's intro. The PS5 SHOULD be able to do this in realtime.

bkEqHFw.gif

The lighting, the ray tracing, the almost CG quality assets. We could've been getting this in realtime instead of in some prerendered intro. But I guess we will now have to wait another 5 years for PD to release a next gen only game.

That's a mode that blurrys everything up to look like tv camera. Don't know what you on about. No one will use that mode to race. You can add that "reshade" to any game and it will look "realistic".
Even under a that stuff you can see the low poly trees cars and everything else. I play ACC You clearly don't

Your right it doesn't look close to this it looks much better. If you have a capable pc you would know that ACC is far beyond any other sim right now.
It really doesn't.there are pics in this same thread. Forza 5 looks like shit

Its soo clear you didn't play ACC or any other racing games outside games available on PS if you think the trees and cars are low poly in ACC and that Forza Horizon 5 looks shit. Your tag says all you need to know about you.

If it looks half as good as the pc version at a stable 60 than it will be pretty good for those consoles tbh. Its a heavy game even on pc you need a pretty beefy pc to run it at a solid fps and rez.

Those are some tasty "low poly" (lol) assets. You clearly don't play AC like SLB1904 man, you would know those are awful low poly trees.

The tonemapping in general looks pretty weak IMO. Everything looks really bland. The cars do look great, but that's what's making all the environment look worse in comparison.

Lots of shadows are also missing from what I can tell, unless they chose the worst scenarios to pick from.
👍 That must be what so was l looking for, whatever Tonemapping/LUT they have in place kind of throws off certain colors/shades that would otherwise have been convincing.

Well coincidentally, on today's DF Halo analysis, they precisely demonstrate what's wrong/missing in GT7 environments (timestamped):

So like I said, hopefully that's something PD can address later on, PS5 should've way more than enough headroom to add this sort of AO compared to PS4/Pro versions.

Wow. I had no idea distance shadows made that big of a difference. WTF were 343i thinking making a new engine and leaving out basic features like that? Shouldve just gone with UE4 since that engine has those features built in.

And say what you will about Alex, but this just proves that RTGI wouldve sold many of the issues we are seeing with stuff sticking out due to lack of shadow casting on objects everywhere.
Not sure what this has to do with GT7 though. And yes, I clicked on the timestamp. He doesnt talk about GT7. Only Halo, Kena and UE4,.

I find it very amusing that complaining about GT graphics is perfectly ok, but do the same thing in a Forza thread and your post is removed and you’re warned not to do it again or you’ll be banned. Where’s the consistency?
Thats odd. Are you at least allowed to create a new thread focused just on its graphics? I was unable to find some of the more photorealistic environments found in FH6 initial trailers so i wanted to ask if people could point me to the right direction, but now I dont want to get thread banned.

they said you should take the edged pill in the morning and the normal one just before you go to sleep. If you confuse this, your medication will NOT work. They said also that it is paramount that you follow that pattern otherwise you will not fully recover from that psychotic Episode..
We all have Smartphones nowadays - set two alarms up. One in the morning called "Edged Pill" and one in the evening called "normal one" that should help.

There's a difference between criticism and trolling. Noone was banned or warned for criticizing FH5 graphics, if the criticism was presented in an adult and mature manner.

I criticized FH5 for its lack of RT in game and missing SSR self reflections and the same rain windscreen droplets from previous game. I didn't get banned or got my message removed just like here. If you are not trolling and type valid points without console waring or clowning nothing will happen. And i wasn't the only one there, there was Rofif, SlimmyS and many others with complaints and all there comments are still there and they also didn't get banned. If you start commenting with shit like FH5 looks shit or saying stuff like ACC has low poly treez and low poly cars yeah you are just asking for it.

Report the people trolling. I'm sure you know that trolling is different from criticizing like saying: " i think the textures are not good" or " the shadows look weird and unrealistic". I know how i criticize games and if have anything to say about one i sure as fuck never was banned for it, because i'm not a dumbshit acting like my opinion on something is somehow more valid than others and gives me the right to just say: "lol it looks last gen" or "lol it looks like shit".

Different levels, people.

Well, the wood in that video consists of multiple textures, but still one per tree (when far away), which is really .... awful looking. Reminds me on the woods in the good old Gothic as long as you are far away.
I guess this might be ok if this was the 120fps mode (if there is one) but else ...
when there is a wood in a racing game, the trees should at least consist of multiple 2D textures (per tree) so they get some depth this really looks just awful. I hope a bit shadow and light can fix this in the release version, but I have my doubts. GT in the last few iterations had always good looking cars but really awful track-details for the generation.
Even the trees in GTS looked better. Really don't know what went wrong in this trailer.

Aside from some turns you can see some weird pop in lighting on trees (kind of like FH5 in perf mode), game looks good. Its got to a point Forza, GT, Assetto all look good in their own way to me where racing games have hit a graphics ceiling. Forza games always have more unnaturally bright colours or lighting making it pop, while GT has more realistic muted lighting

i would hope so over an 8 year old PS3 game

(funnily enough I looked it up to check and it came out on December 6th - today)
A generational leap over the PS3 game. Yes. Generational leap over the PS4 GT Sports? Not so much.

nah his rt "obsession" was funny in this infamous halo video as game had more problems than lack of rtgi that most games lack, John showed much cheaper for compute examples of what was/is missing

This is GT Sport on last gen hardware. Doesn't look good at all, right? And GT7 is absolutely not gonna look even slightly better on PS5, right?

People confuse good looking with realistic looking. Polyphony Digital has always gone for the latter, like it or not.

I'm just stating the obvious and would do the exact same if Forza was a PS game. And that comes from someone who played GT when some members of this very board were not even born.
If this is not trolling, I don't know what is. Could you point out what's so outdated about GT7's visuals exactly?
