Do i need to remind you that PS5 box got 4k and 8K logos on it?

Demon Souls doesn't run at 1080P and Spiderman 30 FPs RT mode isn't at 1080P.

Also both systems have 4K on the box and have demonstrated the ability to play 4K titles. They also have 8K as well but that hasn't been shown in any games yet. No idea what you're trying to say here but you really should so some research.

I just wish I could see it without youtube compression, but even if you get the Digital Foundry patreon files its pointless because they are just watching the 4K youtube video. I want to be able to see the micro effects that are being wiped away by the video compression all the time rather than just occasionally or when I pause it. That plus all the detail in the distance and in the darker areas.

He's talking about the rain and I bet most people can't even perceive that on their displays, makes it hard to talk about the graphics and it doesn't help that they have limited how much zooming they do now since that seemed to piss people off, when they only did it because they knew idiots were watching the comparisons on their mobile phones, I need to hold my phone 4 inches from my face to get the same size of image I see from my TV at 6-7 feet and even then its not a 4K display makes comparing 1080p to 1440p or 1440p to 2160p almost impossible.

So many games these days have too much detail to be seen in shitty youtube quality, like this one, but also games with a really minimal art style look like crap on youtube too, like The Pathless, that game looks so much better natively - in 30fps mode I mean, 60fps mode wipes away all of the detail as well, it sucks, IQ-wise - I wish publishers would set up a website where you can go see direct feed videos if you want, I'm sure most people don't gaf so it wouldn't even cost that much to host them.

The issue is probably that direct feed files mostly don't exist anymore, since they just send them straight to youtube.

Oh wait, I just had a thought, Sony could release their trailers on the Bravia Core service in higher quality, since that seems to be the point of that service. Sounds like too much of a niche case though.
Just FYI, YouTube often looks significantly better if you use the app rather than your browser.

You're nitpicking, Spiderman MM performance RT locks the fps to a dynamic 1440p meaning it goes down to around 1080p

But you're saying that Demon Souls was 1080P as well as Ratchet. Also Miles Morales still has a 30FPS mode with RT that's much higher than 1080P. You're the one ignoring all the other modes and calling the games fake.

So my point about SM is true?!

Anyway i didn't mention DS because SM is clearly the heavier game on the console because of RT

This game looks like a Pixar CGI movie. I can only imagine what first party games from Sony Santa Monica and Guerilla will look like.

Sony will once again have the best-looking games this generation. Exciting times ahead!
Imagine God of War Part III that comes as a PS5 exclusive near the end of this generation, or if ND decides to make Uncharted 5 (or a new IP) for a 2026 release. Or Ghost of Tsushima 3. Or Horizon 3.

The possibilities are endless, and I can't imagine what beautiful things these first-party studios will be doing with the PS5. It's so great and honestly really hard to imagine.

RT on PC is a lot heavier than n consoles, you can lowered down to console levels and push at least 90fps 4k which is awesome with DLSS Quality mode

Cyber77 is a PS4 / XO class game, it is not a native DX12 project, no mesh shader or RT only game so how do I actually have to use that 2000 euro 400 watt GPU .. turn off RT and play at XO level at 4K? At what resolution does 3090 actually tighten that full RT / rock solid 60+ fps .. at 1080p .. 900p ? Holy shit, totally shame. For now, I'm ignoring DLSS bullshittery.

Played 4K ultra with RT ata locked 60 on 3080 with DLSS. Most impressive game visually for now. [R&C won't change that]

Cyberpunk is not a console game. Its not a ps4/xo class game at all. I think its pretty clear by now they ported that shit from PC to consoles a month before launch. Cyberpunk was always a basically high end PC exclusive game. Since the first gameplay snippets appeared in 2018, it ran on a 1080TI, at 30 frames. Then it was showed running on a 2080TI. Then before launch it was on 3080s. You wont find too soon a console game that matches its visual output, simply because the hardware isnt there to do it in either of the new consoles. Fully realised ray tracing features in a vast open world city at the fidelity that Cyberpunk shows, its gonna be a tough benchmark to match, nevermind beat

DLSS has multiple settings in Cyberpunk on the PC, which one did you use? DLSS is also a upscaling technique which reduces native resolution. Using DLSS Ultra Performance on Cyberpunk 2077 degrades the image quality considerably. There is no way your 3080 (I have a 3090) is running with anything other than DLSS Ultra Performance to achieve a solid 60 FPS at the settings you're playing at. Additionally, DLSS Ultra Performance reduces the native rendering resolution to 720p and upscales it to 4k.

This is something that I do not understand. When console games (such as R&C RA) shifts to dynamic 4K or reconstructed 4K for the 60 FPS mode, certain people go "brrrr, can't even do 4K / 60, while my $1,000 GPU does 4K at 60". But then the same people also praises the DLSS tech that their GPU has.

Don't they realize that DLSS is also Reconstructed? And their GPU isn't hitting native 4K either? It's so absurd.

Explosions in particular looks cg like to me as does lots of the game at times and does probably to 99% of average people watching not looking for tiny differences.

The lack of visible edges on characters at times etc is very impressive. As is the post processing and all the methods used to give us that clear clean image with atmosphere.

Its a very good looking game.

When you get this close to cg there's not much further you can go in some areas. But the art style of ratchet leans itself to be closer to cgi easier imo.

The cg from recent Disney movies for eg has moved onto unbelievable levels in the last years, like lion king or even more recent, they look completely real its incredible. To completely match that level is almost impossible but as with diminishing returns you can get closer and closer all the time and the difference is less and less visible to the average consumer imo.

We have to remember this is effectively a launch game made in part in a pandemic with devs working from home probably.

Can't wait to see what games look like near the end of the gen.

[so you're right not every RT feature on]

After watching this, I took a look at my shelf and noticed that I've purchased and played every single ratchet & clank game. It's one of those series that you tend to forget how much you enjoy. I'm really looking forward to this one.

I agree with you. The degree that microsoft got outmaneuvered by cerny and sony on a hardware front is completely embarassing. The 12tflops is total paper tiger given the split memory pool. Maybe if all the memory was at the faster speed it would have stood a chance. It's obvious that sony recognized that memory would be the bottleneck of this gen and created a bespoke I/O system in an attempt to overcompensate - the goal being a REYES type of graphics rendering. The ps5 is the start/practice for devs - ps6 will continue and perfect this trend

But then again - the xsx was just built to be the ultimate game pass machine. They'll be successful in that regard.

This game also had mix of game play and cinematic footage.

.......DF just broke down the footage and talks about the transition from cut scenes to gameplay....

Man, why are you picking fights on how "unimpressive" this looks, when everyone and their mothers are impressed with the visuals? Just because you think it's not using some specific shaders that would make it good looking for you? I remember you loved how Watchdogs looks despite looking extremely pedestrian and how you thought some indie Souls rip off like Mortal Shell looked as good as Demon's Souls? You aren't without your biases and you aren't even aware of them.
