Frame rate is very unstable, i wonder how it would be if it had DRS enabled like the other versions. We know it was rock solid at 1440p so I'm guessing they thought the drops weren't bad enough to bother with it.

Maybe they've heard ps5 is getting vrr soon and thought fuq it lol.

Wonder if they they done the same with the other versions or if they still have drs enabled?

They should have left it at 1440P.

No tearing though was there?
We'll see how it goes, the average framerates seem fine with a few big dips here and there.
May well just be the initial patch to boost res and another will optimise it.

Average frame rate went down from 59.96 to 56.07fps.
Now the game is being rendered at a higher resolution than XSX ( constant 1800p vs dynamic 1440p-1800p) but with lower frame rate.
Probably the ideal solution is to implement DRS on PS5 as well unless they can optimize the code furtherly.
Don't know why they want to keep the resolution always fixed on PS5.

I wonder why they did not apply DRS like others versions.
In any case it is already way better than 1400p fixed.
No tearing and some big drops even so the avg. keeps at 56+ fps... that means the drops are not constants.
There is room do a bit improve in framerate.... if that big drops become smaller drops it will probably reach an avg. 58-59 fps.

I believe there is no DRS coded in the PS versions... PS4 and Pro are fixed too... while all Xbox versions uses DRS.

They should have left it at 1440P.
No.
You can see playing the game.

If DRS is not possible, they should have left it at 1440p (or tried an intermediate resolution).
As is, may well still be playable, but framerate stability is now less.

Glad it's been updated but this game still looks shit. Truly one of the worst Souls clones I've seen.

Maybe because it was 1440p only before, they could only implement the 1800p change and weren't able to do a coding change to allow DRS?

A drop from 59.96fps mean to 56.07fps and now it stays at 60fps around 93% of the time instead of 99.93% like before. Not the worst considering it stays at 1800p all the time now which is a 56.25% resolution boost from 1440p.

I said you, this patch would affect to framerate, you must be proud of yourself, you are the people who demanded this patch on Twitter. Sure you don’t have even the game

The framerate is crap now, like the typical unlocked PS4 pro framerate, even with no enemies the framerate is tanking

I believe the devs said it should have been higher in the first place but they made a mistake. Weird how they didn't make it DRS though.

This is dumb. Stop removing the graphics settings menu, devs. Let gamers choose how to waste system resources.

The game is better now.
And yes I have the game... brought it after I talked with the dev.

Try it to you see.

That is not PC.
Add these weird options to consoles players was always dumb.

Instead to use time and money to work in a single mode now devs needs to time and work in several modes.

PS4 Pro was a big mistake imo.

This is the best that this gen standardized so far - graphic/resolution and performance options for people to choose

It will go away when 30 fps graphical intensive/cpu heavy games will appear in the future

Terrible, as expected. But hey another «win» for the ps5😂😂

In resolution - yes, in framerate it loses to XSX

The dev said the game won’t have framerate drops in 1800p, seems like something is happened and QA didn’t get that issue.

They will release another patch.
DRS was suppose to be enabled or he meant no framerate drop even at 1800p fixed?

Id rather have 1440p locked than this solution. DRS wouldve been the optimal way to go, really strange that the opted for a locked 1800p. The only reason i can think of is that they simply werent able to for some reason. Maybe they dont have tools for it.

Reason for PS5 underperforming because bad tools confirmed. Expect a 50 more fps when tools arrive.

Maybe but I'm not sure if they were talking about missing DRS or there's something else that's dropping the framerate.

In the DF analysis thread one of the people from the dev team said that the patch should not alter the game's performance, so I guess the resolution being static might be a bug or something.
It shouldn't be making the frame rate dip like this. Annoyed this wasn't flagged by QA. Back to the drawing board...

Pretty obvious they missed something.

Yeap he said in the DF thread in their tests the framrate didn’t change going from 1440p to 1800p.
Something else happened.

So now that its at 1800p, frames drop to the 30s. Might as well have left it a 1440p and "forget" about the patch.

Not really if you read the comments from the developers. The console can definitely handle it at 1800P. The question now is if it's DRS that it needs or something else.

Product Director at Playstack BTW.

Can’t output in 1440p or 1800p anyway. Just let people run and output the game in 1080p at locked 60fps instead of this bs middle thing that just force them to lower the gfx settings and cause the framerate to drop.

I can barely remember a console game that launched with a 100% locked framerate. The most common scenario is a surprisingly high resolution (for the hardware budget), medium gfx settings and an always close but missed target for 30 or 60 fps. Then multiple patches that remove this and that and maybe lower the resolution and in the end still stumble on the finish line.

It’s really frustrating.
Especially when you know how easy it is to go above 60fps on PC. Just don’t aim for 4K, or even close to it, unless you have the required hardware. Done. Takes like 5 seconds.

WTF. Why uses 1800p fixed on ps5 if it's dynamic 1800p-1440p on series X? What they have drunk?

Thinks mods influence posters politics. Promoted to QAnon Editor.
What a strange decision, lower it back or have two modes.
