MLB The show 21 cover leaked confirmed coming to Xbox

I think MLB forced them to make it multiplatform, they could've gone to another developer easily.

I do wonder if they will gimp the xbox/pc versions tho
Well, Bethesda says they will make their games "first or better" on Xbox, so I guess that's fair game.

This is one of the rare occasions where im ok with Sony exclusives going to other platforms. I think this needs to be on PC as well. 120 fps baseball. yes please.

However, it would be hilarious if this has a better framerate and resolution on the xsx.

Also, i suspect getting a devkit wouldve been challenging. i would love to know when exactly they got the devkits. before or after launch?

Sony Interactive Entertainment just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about American culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in Japan. If you screw someone over in America, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the american public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase MLB The Show 21 for either system, nor will they purchase any of Sony Interactive Entertainment's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Sony Interactive Entertainment has alienated an entire market with this move.

Sony Interactive Entertainment, publicly apologize and cancel MLB The Show 21 for Xbox One or you can kiss your business goodbye.

This is an absolute travesty for gamers and symbolically represents the beginning of the downfall for PlayStation Studios.

Um, I guess? Except that PlayStation BEGAN its existence by giving out some of its games to other platforms. (Not a lot, but there was a Wipeout on Saturn and Wipeout 64, also Krazy Ivan and Destruction Derby; also there are PC versions of Twisted Metal 1/2 and Toshinden and Jet Moto.)

And then, of course, there are the games that Microsoft produced for Game Boy Color like Microsoft Puzzle Collection, Microsoft Pinball Arcade, & Best of Microsoft Entertainment Pack, and then on GBA there were a whole bunch of Xbox games developed internally at Microsoft's Rare (mostly published by THQ) like Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, It's Mr Pants, SabreWulf, and Banjo Pilot, plus a lot of other licenses like Munch's Odyssey and Viva Pinata Pocket Paradise.

Bro he was joking. Smoke one and relax man its the weekend :messenger_tears_of_joy:
Yeah, caught the reference later. That's fine, still some fun trivia on old cases of cross-platform.

Nintendo still pretty much stays to its consoles. They did of course license the CD-i games, but those need not be spoken of...

There was also a version of Age of Empires II for PlayStation 2 in Japan and Europe.

If you look back throughout video game history, nearly every major console manufacturer has either licensed out or published games for a direct competitor's console at some point.

Might as well stick with the PlayStation version this year. Was thinking about grabbing a Switch version as well but I don’t think it’s coming this year.

Yeah, there's no way a Switch version could launch and have all the same bells and whistles the next gens are going to need developed along with Covid restricting things a full PS5/XB version is already pushing it. These guys aren't great with adding a ton of new things every year, I fully expect semi gimped versions on both PS and Xbox while they get better with the tools. First year sports games on new systems almost always suck, I just hope for a slightly better version of last seasons game for me to be happy.

MLB The Show Twenty Juan doesn’t have Soto as the cover athlete?

Because he's not a Padre....They only care about the Padres. Hope your stubs are ready for a 3/4 diamond roster to buy next season.

With their history, there is almost zero chance that they make a version better on the Xbox, their loyalty to Sony and their product wouldn't allow it. I know PC guys love to brag about their 120 crap, I can't wait for the bitching because their online is ass, and people already get as close to cheating as they can get online on console, wait til they have access to aimbots....swingbots? Literally Xbox and PC players should be happy to see a version of the same game we've had for years because that's the effort SDS puts into the game and be happy since they haven't had baseball in years.

I just hope Sony San Diego keeps all versions of the game equally updated, with no favoritism or extra players for the PS5. Hopefully they game also has cross play, I want to play with a couple of my good buddies and they only have the PS5. Either way I'm super excited to play this game.

If this post is a joke, then well done, 10/10

Great to see this series go multiplat. It was pretty insane seeing a platform exclusive sports simulator franchise. I get MLB isn't as big as Madden, but it could be a lot bigger if it's multiplat. MLB The Show is also probably the least corporatized annualized sports game. The guys at San Diego seem really passionate about the sport of baseball and always try something new with each entry. Sure, the microtransactions for the card system isn't great, but it's much better than FUT. Looking forward to getting this one.

That's hilarious seeing that logo. 8 hope the series does big numbers now that it's multuplatform. Is it on PC?

Interesting to note (and apologies if already covered) the its Xbox One in the image. Wonder if there will be a Series X/S version or if Sony is only obligated to make the last gen version?

There's apparently a separate next-gen SKU. No smart delivery.

"confirmed" ?

We've known for months now that the deal was it was coming to many platforms. Nothing is being "confirmed" or "leaked"....

The release date was ambiguous. They annouced "as early as 2021", not "coming soon, pre-order now!".

If there were still a PlayStation Vita version (RIP), I think a Switch release would be more viable, but otherwise I agree that Sony's not ready to scale down that far in the first multiplatform release year. (And maybe if there is a Switch version or more next year, maybe mobile platforms, some of the port-down versions might perhaps be outsourced in cooperation with Sony San Diego.)

Also, the platforms to expect The Show on was ambiguous. "...additional console platforms beyond PlayStation platforms as early as 2021". Could have meant Xbox X/S, could have meant Xbox One, could have meant Switch, could have meant Stadia, could have meant all of those or any combination of them. Still not confirmed either way, all we have is an apparently leaked Xbox One packart. Not much reason to doubt its validity, though, the plan to take MLB The Show multiplatform has been known since 2019.

Yeah, I remember back when PlayStation started putting some of its games on Android with stuff like Pinball Heroes and the PlayStation Certified titles. (Part of that was in support of the Xperia Play, but there was also word that Sony was adding its △ O X ▢.control systems into Android and would be incorporated into the Store in some fashion.) I was like, "But wha-wha-wha-what about PSP?!" In the end, it was just some games on another platform, and life went on.

By the time the ForwardWorks project was announced, I was kind of happy that Sony would be on non-PlayStation platforms because I wanted Sony mobile games (some of those platforms, I just plain wanted the games, as they seemed to have no hope otherwise being made in the PS4/PS5 era.) Sadly, ForwardWorks has so far amounted to not much notable, much less Sony kissing its business goodbye.

WHERE THE FUCK IS MY CRICKET GAME SONY?!
TBH, all they need to do is hire someone in UK to make the game and give them The Show engine. It would be a far better starting point than the shit games that are out right now. They will have the crowd tech, the stadium modeling tech, and most of the animations. Hell, with some tweaking, they might even be able to use the ball and hitting physics. Not to mention, the graphics alone would be like a 100x better than what we have now.

It's a shame because Brian Lara Cricket 99 was one of the most impressive games of its time on any platform. A true graphical showpiece. Fantastic atmosphere, commentary and production values. A massive upgrade from the 2.5d Brian Lara 96 which itself was revolutionary back in the day. In the 20 years since, cricket games have actually gotten worse.

Yeah, so terrible the studio gets more money to grow the studio, the sport and their fan base.
Let's not act like Guerilla Games have pushed the PlayStation fanbase aside or anything. Completely ignoring requests for a ps5 patch meanwhile continuing to update the pc port. It's embarrassing to me. Playstation studios should be playstation first.
