By the time the ForwardWorks project was announced, I was kind of happy that Sony would be on non-PlayStation platforms because I wanted Sony mobile games (some of those platforms, I just plain wanted the games, as they seemed to have no hope otherwise being made in the PS4/PS5 era.) Sadly, ForwardWorks has so far amounted to not much notable, much less Sony kissing its business goodbye.
I'm not very familiar with the games ForwardWorks has created, since they appear to be focused primarily on Asian markets, and have little to no presence in the US. I know they created a version of Everybody's Golf (a.k.a. Hot Shots Golf) for mobile phones; I've felt that game could appeal to game players worldwide.
Sony's PlayStation group has published some mobile games in the US, most of which had some tie-in to games on their consoles. Some of these were pretty good, but it looks like Sony's walked away from this sort of thing.
They also had their PlayLink series of games. I haven't tried any of them myself, but they seemed like they could be fun for group play.
Bringing this conversation back on topic, a mobile version of MLB The Show could be a big hit. It could also tie into the versions of the game for PS4/PS5 or other platforms, allowing you to transfer your game and make progress while you're away from your console or computer. There are so many ways that Sony could take advantage of mobile phone games to enhance and extend the console games that they're already producing.
