Metal Gear Solid launched exclusively on PlayStation (later ported to PC)MGS games are Multiplat and the original Metal Gear first launched on a Micro Soft Japanese console.
Then the series went on Nintendo consoles, eventually making there way to PS followed by XB consoles.
Bottom line the series is a multiplat franchise.
If this is true its sad because these games should be multiplat.
Sony money hatting the industry is bad for gamers.
Sony should just let their amazing 1st party do the talking. There's no reason for them to money hat multiplats.
Metal Gear has been around since the 8 bit days.Metal Gear Solid launched exclusively on PlayStation (later ported to PC)
Metal Gear Solid 2 launched exclusively on PlayStation 2 (later ported to PC and Xbox)
Metal Gear Solid 3 launched exclusively on PlayStation 2 (years later ported to 3DS; and X360 as part of the MGS HD Collection)
Metal Gear Solid 4 remained a PlayStation 3 exclusive
Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker launched exclusively on PlayStation Portable (later ported to X360 as part of the MGS HD Collection)
The only multiplatform releases from Day 1 were Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain, and even then the majority of the sales were on Sony consoles. PlayStation was not around when Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 were released.
This is not what a multiplatform franchise looks like.

I didn't ignore them:Metal Gear has been around since the 8 bit days.
Not sure why you would ignore all those entries.

Metal Gear is a Konami franchise not a Sony franchise. Its not like there buying a studio like Bethesda...
MGS is “mostly” a playstation 1st franchise, same as Zone of enders
From someone who just listed every game but one went multiplatform. This is the neogaf post version of rick james and eddie murphy's couch gag. This is not what a multiplatform franchise looks like.
Rumor comes from the PlayStation Studios OT over at ResetEra.
KatharsisT states that the large-scale partnership between Sony and Konami hinted by MarsipanRumpan (the Bluepoing acquisition and From Software PS5 exclusive dude) back in December of last year it's real and that Bluepoing Games, who she says are getting acquired as we speak, is now currently hard at work on several MGS remakes exclusively for PlayStation 5 as part of a long term plan to bring the series to the platform.
She also states that Final Fantay 7 Remake will come to PS5 and PC later this year - interestingly there is no mention of XOne/Series versions. Navtra, who successfully leaked the slate of both PS5 event from last year, says that FF7R could be a paid upgrade on PS5.
I want them to do a few more like Resistance 3 and Legend of Dragoon or Syphon Filter. I think they can reach the top even by doing remakes before they try a new IPWonder if Bluepoint will eventually grow tired of being the video game developer version of a cover band
Why would you want to be selfish with this franchise?I didn't ignore them:
So Bluepoint is becoming like those bands that just make covers of other bands.
I mean BP does a great job with remasters but wish to see something from them on recent years.
Because the franchise is tied to the PlayStation brand, so it is no "illegal" for Sony to fund, develop and publish remakes of the franchise exclusively for their console. Why would you want to be selfish with this franchise?
The game comes from a 3rd party Pub, is a multiplat franchise and the more gamers can play it the better.
The franchise should not skip out on the Play Station but should also release on Xbox and Switch consoles.Because the franchise is tied to the PlayStation brand, so it is no "illegal" for Sony to fund, develop and publish remakes of the franchise exclusively for their console.
It is not as if after the release of Gears of War Judgement, instead of selling the IP to Microsoft (which is what happened), Epic decided to make Gears 4 in collaboration with Nintendo for the Wii U.
Also, this MGS remakes wouldn't exist in the first place if it weren't because Sony is pushing for them to be a thing.
Of course there is...The franchise should not skip out on the Play Station but should also release on Xbox and Switch consoles.
There is no reason this game should be exclusive.
So would you rather have no remakes of these games because they are not multiplatform? Because, again, these projects are in the works at Bluepoint Games because Sony is funding and publishing these titles, with Konami acting as a licensor against a share of the revenue. The franchise should not skip out on the Play Station but should also release on Xbox and Switch consoles.
There is no reason this game should be exclusive.
1st party is what differentiates the consoles. Buying up 3rd party exclusives I've been told for years by gamers is bad for the industry.
I think people are overlooking the parts of MGS1 that will be highlighted massively in a straight remaster. People would call it lacking and dated.door will finally load.
interesting (if true) to see if they can pull off a re2 style reimagining of mgs as an ipsis litteris visual remake wouldn't work.
To be fair, after that 8 year gap following a Japan only MSX2 title MGS might as well be an entirely different series for all the brand recognition it had. Metal Gear Solid is a heavily PlayStation leaning series. It’s multi-platform, and I’m very happy to have 5 on PC, but it’s undeniably PlayStation first for all but a few exceptions.Metal Gear has been around since the 8 bit days.
Not sure why you would ignore all those entries.
They began working on Demon's Souls in 2017, before they shipped Shadow of the Colossus remake in January 2018.AAA title if they go for what they did with Demon Souls. Gonna take 2-3 years least.
The Silent Hill rumor has always been a brand new game being made by Sony Japan Studio. A series reboot, but not a remake. Then Silent Hill remake by BP is next to MGS?
That was Dust Golem.
He keep repeating the same mantra every month.
But I don’t believe anything she says.
RedGamingTech also leaked this a few months ago after some verfied ResetEra member mentioned MGS 1 and 2 are coming to PC
RGT stated that MGS 1 is getting a full remake (like what Blupoint did with Demon Souls) and it's "going to blow minds". He also stated that it will be exclusive to PS5 but will also eventually come to PC. I know he left out a lot of details because he didn't want to get his sources into trouble. Wether you believe him or not (he's reliable IMO) quite a few other people have also been saying similar things in recent months so it's interesting.

I wonder how they would improve The Shell in MGS2... It was, I think, deliberately pared back, detail-wise, to allow for those lovely graphics... I guess they'll just festoon everything with pipes and stuff
There were many struts that you couldn't go too. Imagine if they opened them up or allowed you to go through them as snake.I wonder how they would improve The Shell in MGS2... I have nothing to add, other than I love your icon, Mr Stobart.
It’s Konami we’re talking about, it’s probably the only way these games would be made if this ends up being true.If this is true its sad because these games should be multiplat.

Also though irrelevant to the topic Bethesda was looking to be bought out and Sony were in discussions to buy it as well as MS.
that would be cool... do bluepoint do that kind of stuff? Add in content? There were many struts that you couldn't go too. Imagine if they opened them up or allowed you to go through them as snake.
