This is bugging me way too much. It's straight up misleading to have DF write this in the article. Math simply doesnt add up.

They're talking about average and not a single frame.

So because I said I expect Xbox to have better mutli plats and was wrong that makes me not 50/50? Come off it man. You have been here what? Little over a year? I worked in this industry for 5 years and have been here for close to 5. You dont know my history and you dont know my preferences. Believe whatever you want to believe. But this painting of people based on the little exposure you have to them like you are in prison is beyond stupid.
Nikana, you know you and me have big discrepancies in the way we view things.... that generated friction between us not only but a lot of times.

But you know too I'm blue side... so it is fine to admit the side you are... there is nothing wrong in being a fan of one of the consoles.
IMO for me you were always on green side... every single time we discussed... so I agree with fish here.

i am just saying how it looks dude, i have seen you all in a lot of xbox threads, you seem to gravitate a lot more to spreading positively about xbox than ps5, these are my own personal thoughts, this is not some troll thing i am saying and i suspect a lot of people kinda notice the same thing.

If you think you're fair and spilt down the middle, fair enough and good for you, maybe you cant see your own bias or something, i don't know. but i think a lot of people will agree with me, it does not look that way.

But at the end of the day, does it really matter anymore.

I can see this gen lasting at least 8 years looking at how much better these consoles are positioned than consoles in the past.
I don't know the gens seems to be shrinking... even the mid-gen upgrades didn't help to last gen to be the smaller one.

They should update their article then, it's an obvious error.
It is a error... he admitted already.

Wow. This is getting more and more embarrassing for Jason Ronald McDonald, Aaron Greenburg, and Phil.

Has anyone checked on Astal or BlueViolet?

Yikes! Mark Cerny didn't disappoint!

$400 all digital ps5, best performing console in the world. Can't beat that!

Last gen's consoles had horrible CPUs, this gen we getting 120fps option in some cross gen games, that's a massive difference. I think these consoles are much better positioned to go on at least a year longer, but Series S is a dead console.

That was such a wondrous video to watch. We knew that PS5 had an edge, probably in CPU bound scenes, but that really was a complete reversal of expectations from before launch. I expected the two consoles to be close, but for the SX to be a bit better, especially on multiplatform titles. XBox fans, on the other hand, took marginal paper spec advantage as actually translating into some huge advantage, often twisting PS5 architecture to justify their believed superiority, there was simply no argument other than the SX was significantly more powerful. They were far too invested in this fiction.

There is a German word for this enjoyment I believe: schadenfreude. If only the Great White Shark was still around.

In the medium to longer term I still expect the SX to pull ahead a bit, but not by much, paper specs usually do indicate a real difference, we'll see. I'm hoping we get some insight into this current lead the PS5 is enjoying with CPU bound games -- not convinced on GDK being the issue, but fascinating whatever the cause.

Was the 15% on average or was it taking the single lowest and highest frame variance to determine the delta? If the highest and lowest shift was used, I think he should edit the article with the correct percentage or clearly state how he arrived at the percentage.

And the draw distance is still the same.

I bet they are even captured on just one machine as well.
Basically where there is shadow less detail are showed.
That is true for both version... if the guy focused in a part where there is shadow on Xbox and not on PS5 he will realize the Xbox has less details.

Exemple... the rock just below where he pointed... in PS5 it is clear but in Xbox you can barely see it.

Well hate is a strong word but I lol’d at him after the Halo Infinite demo.

I mean, everyone could see it looked rough and so we waited for DF to give us the gory details. Alex first said he was tired so he didn’t do any analysis for a couple of days.

By then people were already saying to delay it and MS was fire fighting hard - “we thought this is what fans wanted!”

Then Alex put out his analysis which basically went - “this may look bad now, but just add RT and this will look great!” Didn’t look at any of the stuff that was obviously subpar. Bear in mind that for the prior PS gameplay reveal they’d gone to microscopic detail to analyse the performance and content.

So after that people started to question his integrity (and indeed the whole of DF).
Yeah, there really is no excuse for that Halo demo. Thanks for your answer!

im not an armchair analyst. I am a software developer who works on 3d applications ( mostly medical now)and hobbies with game development.

but none of that matters when I just clearly pointed it out in the image. you can see more detail in the XsX dof on the same bitmap grass at the same distances. you can even see it ont he tree shadow.
Just ask either John or Alex over twitter to get this issue sorted out.

How disingenuous u have to be to do that ??
Runs average higher resolution on ps5 and has much less screen tearing dueting gameplay on ps5 . Hold that L proud bud haha

Tears were shed at the Crysis altar after Alex had to admit that PS5 outperforms the XSX up to 15%. This was not a good day. But, to his credit, he took it in stride. Probably acceptance setting in.

I am still going with both captured from the same box, and he fiddled with one of the photos, hence the file size comparison and resolution.

Well that could be way disgusting.

Said that what I said is true... the game engine hide details when there is shadow in the surface... not really wrong if you are trying to simulate day/night.... more darker the scene you will see less.

I have a theory. These fps dips on Series X looks like the game is bandwidth starved. You may say how is that possible? Because 560 GB/s is greater than PS5's 448GB/s.

But let's not forget there's also the 336 GB/s of the so-called "standard memory". What if the game's wrongly tapping into the standard memory system here instead of the "GPU optimal memory" (560 GB/s)? This Ubisoft after all.

336 GB/s to 448 GB/s is a 33% increase, and judging from this gif I see nearly a 30% difference in frame-rate in favor of PS5 here.

while i very well enjoy this shitting on xbox fans because they deserved it. but i don't supporting it.

lets praise sony more than shit on xbox. sony deserves all the praise. you never know when the tide will change, so be humble :)

p.s. i would add, it is ubisoft fault? so COD running better on PS5 ,so it is Activision fault? NVS running smoother on PS5, it is a developer fault again? we see here a pattern with these excuses.
