Resi 4 while great isn't really a resident evil game.

Now that's out the way I'd say it's probably 2 remake or resident evil remake.

RE:Remake, as it properly encapsulates everything that made the RE series what it was. But also making it look better, and adding a few new things. Second would probably be RE7 for me, and then RE4. Because both games were evolutions in the series, and they took risks. Both game are outstanding IMO.

im on small company here but the co-op in RE5 made it a far more enjoyable game than the others and therefore it gets my vote. From a single player standpoint REmake is top tier.

The original isn’t my fav favorite because it my first horror game and it reminded me so much of a funeral home I grew up around and spent lots of time in. Objectively speaking, I think the remake of 2 is quantifiable the BEST of the series. I really like doing 7 as well despite the gurgle gut in VR.

Who bumped this!?

Anyway, I've been playing Revelations 2 and it's so good I just want a Rev 3 in the exact same vein but expanded upon.

Re 2 original is the only one I've played for a decent length of time, so it's that one by default. I probably enjoy its music, atmosphere and story more than actually playing it.

I almost played more RE2 as a kid than I have every other game in the series combined. RE2Remake is an objectively better game in every metric, but I gotta give the crown to the OG king.

I was hoping Remake 2 would have the classic camera angles with tank controls option. I know there's a mod out there for this but I wish it came from Capcom themselves. :messenger_loudly_crying:

RE 4 was a great but its the cause of bad resident Evil games and isn’t a true RE. In fact its an awful Resident Evil game.

From its Button bashing and QTE, Suplex City and Melee, Escort missioning Ashley and waves of baddies, no puzzles or Metroidvania Style level. And Lets not forget Machine gun dwelling enemies...... No thanks

Resident Evil 4 is not only the best RE game by far. It also is one of the best games ever made. Masterpiece from top to bottom. Sadly the series never got that good again

Currently playing Remake3 and it really isn't that great. I just fought nemesis on that roof and I feel like i'm 1/3 through the game already.

RE4. No question. It birthed the 3rd-person action genre on console. While I 'get' that it didn't have the prior RE games "scares-spooky shit-more scares" formula, what the game did have was outstanding pacing that made the RE formula unnecessary.

RE2R, RE3 Original, REmake are the best probably. RE4, and then RE7 after these.

But I just beat RE3R 4 times in a row. Its not as good as the original but the gameplay and pacing is perfect. Its a great game to speedrun.

Probably because you are. That game is weak as fuck, RE2R isn't that much to write home about either.

Seeing someone say REMAKE game design is outdated.... Yeah and over the shoulder isn't. At least RE7 was something different even if the game felt like five different teams took part in the development.

RE5n it because it's the best RE, but because I haven't played RE before and the coop was one of the best coop experiences ever. We played the shit out of this game until we could break Wesker with the magnum before he even starts fighting.
RE7 and 2 Remake also are great.

Code: Veronica will always have a special place in my heart being a next-gen Resident Evil and for my favourite system at the time. But in all honesty, my list would be something like this:

  1. Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube)
  2. Resident Evil 2 Remake (PlayStation 4, Xbox One)
  3. Resident Evil Code: Veronica (Dreamcast)
  4. Resident Evil Remake (Gamecube)
  5. Resident Evil 2 (PlayStation)

Took me like 5m to try and pick one. Was conflicted between my favorites, RE7 and RE2 Remake. Ended up going with RE2 Remake.

For me its the original RE2. RE1 remake is up there too.

Don't consider RE4, RE5 and RE6 as Resident Evils. In name only.

Yes, we should have separate voting for horror focused and action focused titles. If we go by sales then I think RE6 who no one has voted for as of yet I think is the best RE game ever and it is the very worst for me...

Obviously action focus titles will have a wider target market, hence the sales and probably voting. ^^

EDIT: Changed to RE7 because it not only shifted RE back to horror but was really REALLY good!

i will never understand what people see in RE4.

thats were it started to went downhill for me , the RE is mystique and survivor horror aspect is gone.

they got it back with 7 even if it is an fps but RE4 , RE5 and RE6 are just action games with RE as name.

Resident Evil evolved. Same way any series has to evolve over time.

When it’s categorised separately to the classic games, it’s fine to function on its own. Outside of controls it plays nothing like it’s predecessors, but it’s like a side project that became so huge that it took over. If you try to class it as a classic RE game it’s so opposite that it’s not funny, but as its own thing it’s got solid gameplay, light hearted comical dialogue, and so much content you can keep returning to.

5 is a cheap copy and 6 doesn’t exist.

I will always want another classic RE with the quality and polish of REmake or the everything of RE2, but 4 in a roundabout way led to 2R and that’s not a bad game by any stretch.

Ok, then:

4 > 2 Remake (has replaced the original for me) > 7 > 3 > 1 Remake (has replaced the original for me)> 5 > Zero.

Didn't finish 6. I never played the Revelations games nor Code Veronica.

Definitely true, reason why Capcom seem to be conflicted on what RE should be. Survival and less sales or action with better sales.

Loved RE2 remake too. It for me is the perfect formula for future RE games being third person and survival horror. Then we got RE3 remake which was a joke.

RE7 was a step in the right direction after getting 4,5,6 but I feel First Person isn't the way to go for the main series. There's space for a separate 1st Person RE series like the Survivor and Dead Aim games.

It's amazing to me how far VR propels RE7. It goes from sitting near the bottom of the list to the absolute pinnacle of horror. No other word describes it like, transformative. Absolutely fucking incredible.
