Horizon Zero Dawn PC Footage

Cool for those who did not play it on PS4 but it's not a game you double dip even with the PC benefits. The open world tedium is a lot. I thought about it but after still playing Ghost theres no way I can handle another open world that was already boring as hell when I first played it. Maybe I'll give it a try before HZD2 when it's cheap on Steam and probably some cool mods out there.
I enjoyed every minute of this game, the battles with big beasts were amazing, and the game got a excellent history

Open world elements are definitely lacking. It's disappointing to find a new "beasts" area because there's really no reason to give a shit. The navigation challenge fillers were a mixed bag.

anyone know if this engine mod friendly or not? it could be interesting to see what kind of things people come up with, especially character models. aloy seems to be a great character but i don't like her design/clothing at all.

It appears as if Horizon Zero Dawn on the PlayStation 4 (89 metacritic) is still the best place to play the game.

PC gamers waited years for it to be ported, and it’s a inferior version (87 on metacritic).

But hey, at least both versions are higher rated than Ghost of Tsushima (83 metacritic)
yes because 2 point on MC are better than 60 frame, real 4k, better fov, animated vegetation, widescreen support, 16x anisotropic etc.

i love fanboys :lollipop_blowing_kiss:

the only thing better in the ps4 version was playing the game 3 years ago without the wait...

you get experience for the skill three and new "amulets" to upgrade both weapons and armors by killing new and strong beasts.

and the challenges gave you the strongest weapons in the vanilla game and dlc if you get all gold results.

Initial shader compilation? Wtf?

This smells like emulation.

I'll see how it performs on my machine but if it runs like arse I'm refunding this shit so fast.

That IGN gameplay was terrible. Do they have people there that can actually play games? How many arrows did he use on that first fight?! Just knock it down and melee it to death.

Played and finished the main game the year it came out, never played the DLC.
Is the DLC worth buying the game again on PC?

60-70fps at 1440p high settings is very good result on stock 1080ti in such beautiful game. IDK what you were expecting.
Well I was expecting just that actually in 1440p based on how visually busy the game is with ton and ton of animated foliage etc. but not High settings. Also, I've Aorus 1080 Ti which is better than stock version, but based on their recent post on Steam... Idk if anyone should even play the game at launch and have bad experience. It looks like the game is just not ready for release but they've decided to release it anyway and fix it later. Anyway, we'll see, I might end up playing the game with Original preset just to get better framerate.

there is an ultra settings at least
what it means is difficult to judge (even more with anisio bug)
I hope it's not like rdr2 where texture ultra setting was basically the same quality of console.

I have really low hopes that we are gonna see improved texture tbh, maybe i'm wrong.

Dlc is great and lenghty (20 hours if you do everything and play on ultra hard), but i don't know if it's enough to spend 50 dollars just for him.

It's quite similar to Blood & Wine, in that
  • it's set in a completely new area
  • can be accessed pretty much any time after getting started with the game, but is really end-game DLC (ramps up the difficulty quite a bit)
  • runs an updated version of the engine, but the updates are only available in the DLC area
  • features enemies/weapons not found in the main game
  • it's quite meaty at ~10 hours for the main campaign, 15+ hours if you want to do everything
Is it worth $50 to you? That I cannot say. But it's far from just a couple of quests.

My god the performance on this port are atrocious...

A 2080ti can't even sustain 1440p60 ultra, fucking lol...

Thank god for neon abyss keeping me occupied...

Base PS4 is basically a 7870 and the Pro trades blows with a 480.

No shit they are claiming you need a RTX3090 and a 4990x to run PS5 games, if this is the level of optimization it's over.

Who has claimed that lol?, we have already seen the specs needed for some next gen games, and they are not even much higher than current gen games on PC.

Probably because Kojima actually cares about the PC port and made sure it was good.
also DS was scheduled for pc since day one, unlike horizon, the game was probably made with multy-hardware optimization in mind.

the fact that they use the same engine is not really important, engines and optimizations are 2 different things.

I'm debating whether to get this or death stranding, I grew pretty bored of the story in HZD but the combat was fun and I think switching to a mouse/keyboard will definitely help

Great thing about steam is they have a generous return policy, you may have to turn a few settings off or decrease shadows but i wouldn't be too worried, I think if you have a 2080 or higher card plus a g-sync/free-sync monitor you should be fine at 1440.

i mean yeah but sometimes 2 hours are not enough to find the sweet spot for performance\quality, especially in mediocre ports like this one.

i have a 2070super and it's not nearly enough good for 1440p60 high\ultra details, and playind lower than these specs is no-sense for me that i already have 100 hours in the vanilla game on pro, what's the point of double dipping on pc if the experience is not GREATLY improved?

i'm not gonna play this game at 1080p just for the framerate, fow and dynamic vegetation, i saw the 4k video on gamersyde and it looks crisp as fuck on that resolution...

the only good thing about this is that the price is gonna go down faster.

well u can always try it and than return if it’s not up to your expectations, also don't underestimate gsync/free sync it can do wonders, hopefully it works out for you. i think you helped convince me to buy it again, the story was pretty meh and hated the locked 30fps, but I agree the combat was fun and I think using a mouse/keyboard will help

Was tempted but i think i'll wait a bit. I'm certainly not against playing a game like this at 30fps on PC, but having to cache the game, combined with the other problems in that disclaimer, well a few patches are incoming i'm sure!.

story was one of the higlights for me :ROFLMAO:

unfrotunately i don't have a monitor\tv with g-sync:messenger_sad_relieved:

These are the words of DF’s Alex and their review will be out today probably.

“I do not think it is reasonable to say this game is unportable - it was just not ported correctly. Late ports of other games which were console only do not have these issues. A gtx 1060 literally runs like the base ps4 in this game. This is just a terrible Port Job which can be evidence in other areas than performance: many features do not work, menu options do not work, settings do not work, etc. Everything is incompetent here and that probably applies to the usage of the PC APIs, memory Management, EVERYTHING. This game need more time to develop and more resoueces than what it got. It also probably need GG to work on it and not a secobdary Studio known for making unsatisfactory ports.

Like most things, this is a Management issue and priorities issue, not that it was such a unique and special snow fake ps4 Game. GG literally always had a PC version of their engine as they detailed to DF in 2017 - it needed updating and care to produce a viable PC version here and it was not given the proper update or care. / Alex”

As said, it's worth it - also increases your max level cap, and provides some extra weapons and costumes, including a 'sexy' one you might have seen, which can be used in the standard quest line.

In addition, it alters some NPC interactions in the main quest if you've started the DLC but not finished the main story.

The Soundtrack is also separate and gorgeous.

Those are some pretty damning statements, JFC wasn't expecting that in this day and age, it's been awhile since we had a totally broken port

Take a shot every time he mentions Microsoft in the video.

In all seriousness though I hope the day 1 patch fixes a lot of this, if not I'm refunding and won't buy again until it's on sale.

Maybe should have got Death Stranding instead.

I'm sure all the issues will be rectified with some lighting tweaks.
True I forgot, DF's been compromised :messenger_tears_of_joy:, I'm still going to at least try it out, I want to see what crazy reshade presets people can come up with and how it feels at +60fps

is it like blue pill/red pill from the matrix level of "I didn't see that coming"?
It's umm... I'll try to be very generic as not to spoil anything, but suddenly the world and everything about it makes sense, and not in the way you'd think (there's quite a bit of clever misdirection leading up to the reveal). I would have been perfectly satisfied with only "there are robot dinosaurs, just roll with it" - the fact that it's actually very well thought out was a pleasant surprise.

Good to hear, not many very well crafted science fiction stories out there nowadays especially when it comes to video games, will definitely play through it now
