Game Informer: Spider-Man Miles Morales includes a remastered PS4 Spider-Man

Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales on PS5 reportedly includes a PS5 remaster of PS4's Marvel's Spider-Man from 2018. At the moment of publishing, this hasn't been confirmed by either Insomniac Games or Sony Interactive Entertainment, but it is claimed in the latest issue of Game Informer. In other words, the information isn't official, but it does come from a reliable source.

The big question is what is the difference between the PS4 version running on PS5, and the "PS5 remaster" running on PS5. Because I was under the impression that the PS4 version would get some auto-upgrades.

What are we talking about $60? Was anybody expecting Miles Morales NOT to be a full priced release? I don't follow. This doesn't mean a PS5 remaster sold separately would be $60, or even that they'd release it standalone at all necessarily.

It'll probably be sold as Miles Morales for $60 but have the PS4 game and all past DLC included.

That means it will be full price then... hmmm not sure I like this.

Yeah... sounds like they are trying to add more "value" to the package by not having a $39.99 PS5 game be the "premier" launch title for the system.

Man this new generation is starting off on such a weird note.

*edit: I only say this because Insomniac themselves have already said Miles is akin to Lost Legacy or Last Light. Lost Legacy released at $39.99, and Last Light was either $29.99 or $19.99.

If Insomniac tried to charge $59.99 just for Miles they might get a lot of heat. $60 may be well worth it, but they have already compared the game to "budget" priced titles, so they kinda have to launch at a budget price.

Bungie got a lot of flack for launching Halo 3: ODST at $59.99 back in the day... so they released it with the Halo 3 multiplayer to try and appease the consumer.

Pretty pointless, but if it's just priced €40, I guess it's like an added PS5 patch for the original.

Hopefully a discount for those who already own Spider Man/DLC.

Making a remaster of a PS4 game that most PS4 owners have played, finished, and maybe even Platinumed isn't the best marquee launch title for a new expensive system.
110m+ PS4s have sold.
Spider-Man 13.2m copies have sold

According to math that's 8.3% which is quite the opposite of your statement. Also, MOST people don't platinum games in general and that's irrelevant regardless.

Good news for me if I do end up getting a PS5. Spiderman is the only game that almost tempted me to get a PS4. Im not overly fussed about Miles Morales though.

Ah, I totally missed it if they had said MM was more like UC:LL than a full standalone new game, leading to the idea that it would be cheaper.

Cool for those who did not play which are not that many but the OG has 0 replay value and I doubt the Miles Morales version will be significantly different.

Wouldn't it be something if you could already play the existing version of the game you own on your PS5?

Suck on that rumor mill.

If true, I hope this doesn't mean Miles Morales is a short game. This is good for those who missed out when Spider-Man released on the PS4 though.

No need to even question this, it'll look better than PS4 Spider-Man. Also, PS4 Spider-Man looks better than the infinite gameplay lol I'd argue a lot of current gen games look better than infinite.
Insomniac mentioned Uncharted Lost Legacy as a reference and that's a 7-8h game.

5-8hrs depends on player give or take. What ever, it's clearly not going to be anywhere near the scope of the first game. So it shouldn't be anymore than 30 bucks imo.

But when you focus on the group likely to buy a PS5 at or near launch what he said becomes much closer to the truth in all likelihood.

If they make you buy Spiderman again just to charge $60 for this then they've really fucked you over. Banana in the tailpipe.

I'm intrigued what a Remaster would look like compared to the PS4 version running on PS5
Almost guaranteed it'll be a PS5 Enhanced title
So a Remaster would be.....
