I guess sooner or later one of these predictions will be right on the sheer fact we're running out of calendar. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

The Nostradamus-Effect.
Out of 8524 guesses one will be correct.

'Business-Insider' is my favorit word of the year.

It's funny how everytime a leak happens with a bit more weight to it, like in this case OPMUK saying they'll be showing PS5 games in june, suddenly all the "insiders" appear to piggyback off the leak. Like, they ain't got shit to say till either an official source hints at something or an actual confirmed insider says something.

It's almost like they're a bunch of chancers reading the room, throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. What does will score them rep. What doesn't, well, that(s been "pushed back", or "changes were made".

Either way, going off the OPMUK June teaser it seems we're set for something.

Ah yes. *Leak* something related to nearly every IP Sony owns.

GerAlt-Right. Ciriously.
Sony in 2019 and 2020 have been in a word: underwhelming. From being completely silent and allowing Microsoft to do all the talking, Sony's silence has rubbed some people the wrong way. Then the PS5 reveal showing that it was less powerful than the XSX had people's heads exploding. With guys like Jack Tretton, Kaz Hirai and Shawn Laydon leaving during the PS4 era some are getting concerned that guys like Jim Ryan and the new CEO Kenichiro Yoshida are of the bean counter/suit variety who have little knowledge and appreciation of games. Other things like censorship, (crossplay is not a big deal) and concern that first party games may be moving more in the "woke" direction (as evidenced by TLoU2 leaks) have people worried that Sony. Time will tell if these concerns are legitimate or overblown. My personal opinion is that TLoU2 will be fine, where those who want to be outraged will be outraged and those who want to like it will like it. To be fair, I have a higher tolerance for woke and have already purchased my copy of the Last of Us 2.

This reveal is the opportunity for Sony to make a statement and remind people that Playstation is still the number one console brand in the world and they intend to stay competitive. Unless this is a complete disaster, there is little doubt that I will be a PS5 owner, day 1.

What I am hoping to see:
1. AN enthusiastic reveal of first party games.
2. Assurance that the backwards compatibility will work and give examples of how much better PS4 games will perform.
3. $399 price point - feels VERY doubt full at this point.

What I am hoping to NOT see:
1. Anything related to identity politics/wokeness. I very much support diversity, but it should NEVER be a selling point.
2. Higher than $499 price point.

Retailers need to know the RRP months in advance. They will play chicken, but not until launch date.
I was joking about that part. When they open up preorders they obviously have to reveal price. I'm wondering when they will do so though. Last time I think it was at E3 in June so I guess both will have to be decided unless they delay allowing preorders for a month or something to adjust to the other

That guy from Reddit is collecting Twitter bullshit.

Seriously.
Just the other day we had a thread started about improving the quality of this forum.

Threads like this doesn't do that any favours at all. Neogaf has become a literal dumping ground with members here trawling the faecal infested reddit for clicks.

Reddit posts should be an automatic ban here.

PlayStation 5 Reveal Event is Reportedly Scheduled For June 4th; First Party Games Possibly Getting Unveiled Ahead of the Event

According to a new report that surfaced online today. The PlayStation 5 will be revealed in full in June 4th 2020. GamesBeat reporter Jeffrey Grubb revealed on the ResetERA forums that the reveal event is currently planned for early June. First-party games, however, may possibly be shown before the event.

Source: Jeffrey Grubb

What makes us have a second thought on this fresh rumor is… Jeffrey Grubb proved to have insider information in the past, confirming the date of the latest Nintendo Direct before the official announcement. He also hinted months ago that he had exclusive knowledge of Sony information. A June reveal also somewhat mirrors Sony’s PlayStation 4 strategy, as the Japanese tech company revealed it’s console final design in June. While another update claimed that OPM will be revealing PlayStation 5 games in its July issue and sale June 2nd.

Weeks ago, a reliable sources revealed that PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X events are scheduled for next month. Due to the current situation, however, console manufacturers are ready to make any last-minute changes to their plans.

With E3 cancelled, a lot of the planned reveals / announcements have been moved out of that single week. Some are now much earlier, others much later. Some still during E3 week ofc. The first proper next gen console/games showcase is much earlier too.
This is the one time I will actually add a caveat, for the last sentence in this case, as we are living through an unprecedented situation and this is the one time where external factors such as COVID-19 could actually change plans right at the last minute. But we’ll see.
Is good to know that the PlayStation 5 launches this Holiday although it was also said to be limited due to high pricing. But at least its something to be happy about, we will surely get our hands on next-gen console this year so cheers. We’ll keep you posted. Stay tuned
