Just finished this and it was good fun, also thank you 30 minute episodes, I rarely manage to endure the 45 minute plus staples so this more concise time frame was much appreciated.

Steele Horse had more charisma than his entire WWE and NXT run combined.
It actually took me way too long to determine who it actually was.

A great match getting its due here.

...This small visual alone is arguably better booking for Bayley than from the actual WWE right now.

7 episodes in and I'm not understanding why this is getting good reviews.

I felt the first 3 episodes really didn't grab my attention but I stuck with it because I had read how good it was, but now 7 in and I have no motivation to finish.

Just because the in ring stuff and wrestling characters are supposed to be bad acting doesn't mean all the other scenes should be too. I find half the scenes to be cringey. Maron is the only one who consistently performs well.

As a wrestling and Alison Brie fan I'm highly disappointed.

Watch Insecure on HBO!

I did! I even made the OT for it!

It has all of the strengths and all of the weaknesses of a Jenji Kohan series, for better of for worse. Given her track record, that usually means 1 or 2 good seasons until the characters turn into caricatures of themselves. We'll see if that happens here or not.

GLOW isn't a Jenji Kohan show though - it was created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, who are also the showrunners.

Welfare Queen the most entertaining wrestler. Shit is comedy gold.

It is REALLY weird seeing that character because the person who plays her is a legit wrestler who's been around for over a decade, maybe fifteen years at this point?

Now that GLOW seems like a hit, she can probably do Welfare Queen as a separate gimmick and make double bank

Cherry's husband is an underrated character. I really liked him. Bash too!

I love how many characters in this show who would normally be assholes were actually really nice people. Even the TV executive was really supportive.

Great first season. The cast was great. Debbie, Ruth, Sam, and Bash were all standouts. I couldn't really stand Melrose. I am glad she took a backseat in later episodes. They have given themselves plenty of material to work with, so season 2 should be good. Can't wait.

I don't binge watch shows anymore, but this held my attention the entire time. I finished it in two sittings. Was so good. Can't wait for season 2

What's with all the scapegoating of Jenji Kohan? If anything goes to shit with this show she's not gonna be the one to blame. And frankly, the first three seasons of Weeds and for me, pretty much all of Orange so far (although this season was probably the weakest) have been great. Three great seasons of a TV show beats 0 great seasons so like...

Hype by the reviews. Been on a Netflix originals binge lately (watched girl boss, it was okay...chewing gum still hasn't really clicked with me) but I'm gonna give this a shot tonight.

Just finished it. I really enjoyed it - fun characters, unique milieu, smart writing, and it never overstayed its welcome. Bring on season two!

Yup.

In Kohan's defense, OINTB Seasons 1, 2, and 4 were critically acclaimed.

The only seasons that were mixed bags were S3 and S5.

Sums up my feelings really. Just finished it with the girlfriend, didn't expect to like it as much as I did. I'd definitely be down for another season.

Slow and slightly weak beginning, but strong middle and end. I liked all the training bits and the hotel stuff. All the women were great. Kate Nash and Sydelles characters were probably my favorite. Marc Maron was goddamn great. I know he never saw himself headed down the actor path, but he's made for it. Glad it was a short season as well. They told a tight story that if it went on any longer they could've easily got lost in a bunch of side plots that didn't need expanding or caught in the milieu of their A plots.

a good to great first season, I'm easily on board for a season 2.

I have to say, the main thing I took away from this show was Betty Gilpins leaping motion from the turnbuckle is one of the most adorable things I've ever seen. Its like a pounce.

Sam - Marc Maron's character - really reminds me of Bojack Horseman's. Washed up abrasive Hollywood figure who deep down has a good heart but always is his own worst enemy. He makes moves on people at really inappropriate times and goes on benders with coke and alcohol to mask how profoundly unhappy he is. People love him but he is never satisfied with his lot in life.

I was more interested in Zoya than any character in WWE currently. Brie was awesome. Just further shows that you dont need wrestling skills to tell stories, you need actors and actresses, none of which the WWE has currently.

I'm sorry but wasn't Marc Maron's character simply Marc Maron himself? Idk if it's deserving of praise, but he was a standout if you never actually followed him...

Like OITNB, the supporting cast really made the show worth watching.
And Ruth is more likable than Piper

I binge watched the entire season within a day, and it was awesome! Allison Brie and her fake Russian accent is the most adorable thing ever! The wait for season 2 is going to be excruciating :(

This was a very good show. 8/10 material in my books. Marc Meron is absolutely hilarious and Alison Brie did a terrific job.

It's a fun, easy watch. And the show treats its characters and material with a lot of respect in a setting that doesn't offer any.

Personally, this didn't feel groundbreaking like the first seasons of OITNB or Stranger Things, and I'm surprised at the 10/10 reviews.

But I'm quite looking forward to season 2!

Having just watched the documentary, I'm not sure why they had to change all the names. Did they just not want to pay the original people at all?

I need a season 2. Really enjoyable show, loved the 30ish minute episodes, loved the characters. My favorite thing Netflix has done in a long time.
