Having actually used the DualSense now I can say that IMO it's hands down the best controller Sony have ever made... However, the bar is low, as I've hated all the others, and still hate the symmetrical sticks and non-replaceable battery. This one though feels like it's built more with quality in mind, and it feels closer to the Xbox controller than anything they've managed before, and less like a toy. I like it much more than I expected too. That said...
The hype over the haptics is massively over the top IMO - it's just rumble again, and the resistance on the triggers is... okay I guess? But not necessary. I can see me turning that off in the near future. Played Astro's Playroom, and you assume that's as good as it gets - I am whelmed, was expecting more given the gushing that's gone on.
My biggest hate though is that tinny speaker in the controller that completely throws off the sound experience for me. Not sure who thought that added anything worthwhile. Coming from the quite stunning Dolby Atmos that the Series X puts out, which just works, I've found myself constantly fiddling with the levels on PS5 trying to get it to sound right, between the console and the controller speaker. Been quite a frustrating experience so far.
