I still remember some of the posters here had predicted Nintendo Switch sales will fall off the cliff in 2020 as the next gen consoles hype makes people forget about Switch. Nintendo didn't have the big AAA 3rd party games to sustain its life against those consoles.
New Pokemon, New 3D Mario, New Zelda, and etc are the system sellers for Nintendo. These games aren't available on XSX and PS5.
But let's sober up a little. It's about time for them to introduce at least a moderately boosted unit. Too many games for this system are just barely able to run. Even a moderate boost to CPU, GPU, and RAM would make a huge difference with this library, and probably a ton of people would then double dip on hardware. Just seems like too much of an easy win for them to just leave it on the table.
And they might leave it on the table by introducing new hardware that isn't a substantial enough improvement, but that doesn't mean we don't need it. They might not need it, but we do.
And if they don't start churning out some big titles in 2021, I wouldn't be surprised to see the system begin to lose momentum. It won't go off a cliff this year, but 2022 could be that cliff.
