As much as I love Snowbound... multi-flag simply work too well on it. It would be so awesome because the games would go so quickly! It takes less that 5 seconds for a person to move the flag from one base, over the top, and into the other base. And that's not even considering the fact that one-hit melees + shield doors = great fun. I hope Shishka is listening.
That's assuming you have a coordinated team, or you have a strong shield to simply run to the opposing base, pick up their flag, and move your hooves through the bottom ways of the map. It is that simple!

I suppose you find 1 Flag at Valhalla in 4v4 much more enticing.

It doesn't take much coordination to make a 5 second flag run.

And anything on Valhalla has at least 5 times as much fun as anything on Snowbound.

OK. You've played these games. You've experienced this gametype against other players on your skill level. Gotcha!

Not to mention anything 4v4 (excluding Team Snipers) on Valhalla is a walking bore, but you wouldn't admit that. I'll carry on with this thread.

It's good when you own them though, I'm hispanic too btw

Indeed it is good when I own them, I'm not Hispanic though, though I can see why they think that. :P

You don't have to play a CTF game on Snowbound to know that it would suck. Everything sucks on Snowbound.

About a month ago, my NAT randomly decided that it didn't want to be open anymore.

Can someone provide me with an easy to follow, clear cut solution to fixing my NAT? I have a Linksys WRT54G router and a cable connection.

Wow, I just finished reading the whole piece from Voc about the Gravemind. Awesome read.

It cleared up a lot of things that had confused me about the Flood and the behind-the-scene events of Halo 3 (see: Medicant Bias)

... are you serious? Every single game of Standoff that I play, there is always a shortage of BRs. There are what, 3 that spawn on each side in the beginning and take at least a minute or more to come back? That's way too few for a big map like Standoff (especially with a Warthog spawning each side and a laser in the middle). If you get killed in the beginning by some lucky Rocket shot or something, you're stuck waiting back at your base for a solid weapon to spawn. ARs are the most useless things on that map.

Valhalla, I'll agree with, there are lots of BRs in the bases. But what about when you (frequently) spawn out in the middle of the battlefield? No BRs to be found anywhere (except one in each cave, but half the time those aren't even there).

I very rarely spawn in the middle of the field on Valhalla, and when I do it's usually near one of the caves. I do agree though that it can be frustrating spawning with an AR on a big map. I tend to feel very naked without one at times. Just from my experience though, this is rarely a problem since on both Valhalla and Standoff there are plenty of BR's to go around, and if there aren't any, they spawn fairly quickly for the patient.

Perhaps this is simply due to my more cautious play-style. I'm a very patient and deliberate player at my best, and a very rash and foolish (fools rush in) player at my worst (happens more than I would like). Take Standoff for example. If I die and spawn with an AR and no BRs in sight, I'm likely plotting a way to get to the bubble shield/needler area (mongoose) for maximum damage.

It is now taking twenty seconds to read or delete messages on XBL and I can't reach xbox.com. Is this just me, and if so, wtf? Everything else is fine.

Edit: world map has no lights, population for all playlists is 0.

Alright Halo 3 GAF....

I PRESENT TO YOU!!!!!

Tiny Avalanche BETA

Lemme know what you think. It's pretty mcuh going to stay the same, I just need feed back on spawns, weapon respawns, certain placement of objects.

Difference rom the previous version: It's a little more wide open, which means you have more room to fight now. I also put in Assualt, CTF, and King of the Hill areas, that are very similar to the real avalanche. Anyway, lemme know what you think so I can do any finishing touches.

I'm also working on a new map called Halo Land.
Big improvement over your last version. You've increased the spawn count, although I'd suggest you allocate them to teams (instead of being neutral) to be safe. Map feels abit bare outside in terms of weapons, Throw in some more BRs or ARS or duel wieldable weapons. Whatever feels better.

Map could be made abit neater, and if you have the time I'd 100% suggest you look into interlocking. If you want, I could do half the map to show you what it looks like.

This might help

http://portforward.com/

It's got lots of sheez about routers and networking. It even shows you how to port forward your router for Xbox Live.

Some routers have an option for a DMZ. In that case, you'll want to see what IP address your 360 is getting assigned - when it's on, go to DHCP Client Table or Connected Devices or something like that and look for a blank name. If you have a lot of devices connected to your network, this may be a little difficult. Then, you just enter that IP address into the DMZ field and enable it. Then, restart your box. This is how I get around my NAT problems.

Thats how I do it too.

Thanks, guys, I'll have to check into this.

And Cocop/Juices, you can check which IP your box is assigned in router settings, correct?

Go to "edit settings" in the system blade of your 360. It'll tell you which IP your box is reading.

Btw, did you guys notice the cover picture for the article?

Voc drew that... lol. It's amazing, IMO - the symbology and the drawing itself.

It was an amazing read, indeed. I wanted to stop after a few paragraphs and tell myself "i'll come back later lol" but I just wanted more. Before I knew it, I had finished reading the whole thing.

And Cocop/Voc, any way to get Voc's drawing in wallpaper size? :P

I had no idea what interlocking is, until you told me to go look it up. I thought you meant just make the pieces look like they connected.

Anyway yeah I'll do interlocking. It'll take some time, and when I feel the motivation to give it a go again. I appreciate the feed back.

I'll try to add some more weapons, but i doubt I will be able to now that I am down to 1 dollar. I'll fix the spawns, etc.

Just talked to him and he said he has a higher-res version. He's gonna post it later tonight when he gets off work.

I can't imagine making a decent map without interlocking. I haven't looked at you map yet but I'm positive that interlocking would make it loads better. Not only does it make the map look cleaner, it fills gaps that grenades can get caught in, things to interfere with player movement, and gives you a ton of flexibility.

It's certainly a good attempt, but interlocking does make things much more smoother for appearance and gameplay.

Go to ForgeHub and read their step-by-step analysis, and they have other ways around to help you create the map that much more fun. Unfortunately above all that, it takes time. If you have patience, you're fine. ;)

Well I'm doing one side for you right now. So you can see how it looks like once i've uploaded it. I'll also post a guide when I upload it.

Edit: okay, I've done a very small part of interlocking. Its the area where the teleporter leads to, forgot which side sorry. I also forgot to put the man cannon back in.......and I've changed a few ltitle details around the map, see if you can spot them ;p.

Okay, this is crazy. Everything else about my Internet is fine but now my 'ICMP' has failed in the Test Xbox Live Connection screen. Anyone have any experience with this?

Edit: and I can't reach www.microsoft.com either now. C'est bizarre. I am convinced there is something weird going on with my Internet of late.

Edit2: It's not just me.

Ok wtf, don't the barriers in Snowbound block all grenades, explosions and bullets?

Someone threw a grenade at the barrier in the middle near the shotgun/sniper with me on the inside. And somehow it blew up the wall things, killing me. The grenade was totally thrown by the other team and the grenade stayed on the outside yet the explosion still came through...

Was this changed in an update or something?

Nah, the explosion from the coils has always been like that. What's with all the head to head maps having 50 fusion coils in every area? :lol

For the life of me, I can never remember which side the explosion occurs on :lol

Awesome article, Voc. I was definitely one of the many who didn't especially like Gravemind at first because that portion of the plot seemingly came out of left field, but with the storyline developing further in Halo 3 he became a really awesome part of the story.

Knowing more of the backstory and details = <3.

I enjoy both, but doubles and 1v1 shouldn't have radar.

I seriously heart the Brute Shot. People may say that the BR + Sniper combo is the best, or maybe even BR + Shotgun....but for me personally, its got to be the BR + Brute shot combo. Its like, awesome.
I'll almost always switch the AR out for a brute shot if I already have a BR. I'll still replace it for a mauler, sword, or shotty if I plan to do close combat. The brute shot is great against vehicles though.
