Is it true that PAX is going to be in NYC next year?
My dad has a house up in New York (near the city) and it would be sooo much easier to get to PAX if it were up in New York, and especially New York City.

Wrap your 360 in a towel then tell them it got a RROD.

Well in my case it's just more of an annoyance; the problem is that the drive sometimes wants to read games as DVDs on bootup, so when you try to load the game you get that screen where it tells you to put the Xbox360 game in a Xbox360 in like 8 different languages. Usually it either boots fine, or I only have to try re-booting it once or twice, and once it boots it's completely fine. Very occasionally I'll get a DRE, but that's maybe like once a month so. Initially when I started this process back in March, I was assuming it would get worse with time with the bootup problem, but that hasn't been the case, at least not yet. So I'd prefer to go through normal routes at least for now. Plus if you send it back for a RROD, I'm not sure if they would address my problem as well or not for free.

I think what excites me about the prospect of a halo squad based, are the things we can't think of and not so much that it's in the halo verse. I can't wait to see what bungie introduces in their next game that becomes that genre standard.

The very essence of Halo is you and an alien world to explore. I do not want a Gears of Halo, Brothers in Halo, Rainbow Halo, or Ghost Halo.

No thanks.

Well, I think we need to really examine how different some of the things we're talking about are. There are very distinct items here on the table:
  1. The next "Halo" game (presumably following the Chief and Cortana).
  2. A different game or games set within the Halo universe.
  3. A completely separate Bungie IP.
Those are three different things, so let's not shoehorn any Halo-related software after Halo 3 into one or two of those categories.

I could definitely see various games like a squad-based tactical shooter, an MMOFPS or even an RPG provisioned by Microsoft. They don't need to be knock-offs either, my comparisons were only superficially based on successful franchises within those genres. As long as the game is compelling (mechanics/story), it fits well with the fiction and it has a competent developer at the helm - things which Microsoft has done and likely can do - we're off to a great start.

Agreed.

He was probably just fucking with you. Sometimes when the Halo 3 disc gets scratched, it won't load certain maps, which will cause the game to change the map that you're playing on. It could have just been that his disc was really messed up and was screwing around with you. So, when he saw that Isolation popped up, he would've known that his disc couldn't load it and was messing with you.

Or, they were somehow hackers
(in which case, Lukems, I think it's time to lay down the banhammer)
.

Yeah but he changed it twice. I've never seen it happen. He was like I don't like this map so I'm going to change it to BR starts. The 1st time he changed it, it was Snowbound but no BR starts. He did it again and got it to The Pit BR starts.

Whole time I'm like WTF?

Alright Halo 3 GAF....

I PRESENT TO YOU!!!!!

Tiny Avalanche BETA

Lemme know what you think. It's pretty mcuh going to stay the same, I just need feed back on spawns, weapon respawns, certain placement of objects.

Difference rom the previous version: It's a little more wide open, which means you have more room to fight now. I also put in Assualt, CTF, and King of the Hill areas, that are very similar to the real avalanche. Anyway, lemme know what you think so I can do any finishing touches.

I'm also working on a new map called Halo Land.

Why is everyone hating on the Carbine? Sure it got nerfed from beta but it still outpowers a BR one on one. It only takes like what 8 shots for a kill? and the speed is just crazy fast.

Also yes I think we should get more customs going. I'm surprised at the low amount of GAF customs.

Sure. I'm not against Halo Wars or a squad-based Halo game on principle, but I don't want those types of games coming from BUNGIE. I expect more out of them.

I want Bungie to aim a bit higher than mere 'compelling'. I'm thinking more ICO and less Full Spectrum Warrior. I'm also fine with a new IP, and imagine that a Marathon: Combat Evolved, for example, could work quite well.

My single ray of hope comes from one of the bonus disc documentaries where Jason Jones says something to the effect of wanting to recapture that sense of wandering from Halo CE. This is the direction I hope Bungie takes with whatever their next project might be.

My problem with the carbine is the low ammo capacity. The BR has a nice, big amount of ammo and you can take out two, even three enemies with it if used correctly. The carbine takes out one guy (if I'm aiming well) then requires a reload.

A few more carbine rounds would be nice for an upgrade.

I'm well up for customs if you guys ever get them going. Maybe a time should be set twice a week for a Gaf meet up.

What about Team Fortre-Halo?

FUCK NO, me neither.
Hmmm...I'm imagining a Team Fortress 2 art-style change for Halo and seeing a Mister Chief game, where everything looks like that sweet picture Luke drew of one of the upcoming maps in one of the recent updates.
I kind of like what I'm seeing...

I'll check it out and give you some stuff to work on. I've got things to do, so yeah i'll make that post in about 12 hours or so.

No Bungie presence at NYC PAX confirmed. That is unless your dad gets inside next time and gives them a good talking to.

You fail to remember that in two years time Dax may be old enough to get his very own driver's license, steal his mom's car, and track Bungie down wherever they go.

You left out the part of him parking and looking at whatever building they're in from across the street.

That's assuming Dax has the patience of a 3rd grader. Are you willing to bet on that?

Excuse me, but I will be getting my driver's license this year; within the next month or two.

Watch out, Luke.

Edit:

Um, I went up to the front door to take a picture. Ask Sai-Kun, he's seen it.

Keeping in line with the "Bungie's next game" talks, Braid is the kind of game that I thought that the SI game would be.

Yeah but instead of going back and forth through time to alter the enivornment. Bungies' next game allows players to create their own countdowns, allowing players to choose what they countdown to AND choosing weither or not the countdown ever finishes...

I might so dosme drunk posts in this thread

going down to get a glass of water if i remember my laptop is opemn when i get back.....

Um, did I say people didn't use melee or grenades with the BR? No. Did I say people use melee and grenades more so with the AR than the BR? Yes.

What kind of evidence do you have to back this up? Nothing changes about my playstyle between the two weapons, I just know that I have a chance at all times with a BR.

I know the topic is beaten to death, but as long as I feel a certain setup affects the enjoyment I get out of the game, then I feel it will always be worth a discussion. :)

Gamevee runs like shit on my mac.

In fact, like 75% of internet video runs like shit on my mac.
I dont know what the fuck is up with it.

Well thats easy you have a MAC. :D Buy a real computer next time trust me it aint Gamevee because Gamevee runs fine on this shitty laptop that has 256MB RAM and no video card.

I like to use different weapons in different situations.

Most of my complaints including Standoff, Avalanche and any Large map for that matter start with BR. These complains mean we want AR + BR starts.

For MLG yes theres no AR, but there is still Sniper and Rockets and Maulers and Carbines and in my opinion better powerups and weapon spawns.

I'm not against all weapons in fact I have some pretty crazy weapon kills in my stats page.

Its harder to understand when you haven't played as much level 40+ slayer, team doubles, and so fort, but there is a reason for the bitching like Ramirez says if it affects our game enjoyment it deserves a discussion.

The fact that such little market share and thus such little time is spent by any software developer optimizing their applications for cross platform compatibility does not make it any less of a "real compter"

with that said I completely agree with you
that any BR primary start should still give you an AR secondary by default

I'm not one of those people who demands or expects BR starts to become the standard, but dear god, nobody can justify BR starts not being the standard on Valhalla and Standoff. Nobody.

Agree, for the most part. Standoff is small enough that I don't mind AR starts, since there are some BRs lying around and I often use other weapons or get close anyways. Similarly, I don't mind Rat's Nest with AR starts since there are BRs around and a lot of the initial combat is vehicles or close quarters. But all other BTB maps should be BR start.

I realize that most of the AR/BR discussion is in a non-BTB context.
