True that...i get so pissed when games like that come up

Valhalla for Team Slayer, yes.

For BTB, I don't see a big necessity.

Standoff for Team Slayer, yes and no. I would also like to mention I would like to see the Laser, plus Warthogs, removed from Standoff, and they add either a Ghost or Chopper to each side. This permits one person per vehicle and more fun throughout the map. Warthogs run the map, which results in boring unless it's a map like Avalanche, Rat's Nest, Valhalla, or Sandtrap.

Place a Battle Rifle or Plasma Pistol in the Rocket spawn, and put the Rockets in the middle.

That video was hilarious... I could picture you reloading and then hearing that beat and thinking "Hmm" which led you to running around doing that. Lol.
Sounded like the theme to The Terminator there for a second. :lol

I think a good way to determine what weapons to start with and what weapons should be on a map should be determined by:

1.) Size of Map
2.) # of Vehicles
3.) # of Players
4.) Power weapons on map

Because of the increase of aspects 1-4 a team can slowly gain more and more control over a team therefore balance requires stronger start weapons.

Each point also adds the need for more powerful weapons on map. Including anti-vehicle weapons/equipment.

Some maps seem to create a balance this way much better than other maps.

All maps should have Needlers as starting weapons.

Quick question - twice in the last 2 days I have been unable to sign into XBL, with my console popping up this "This account is no longer valid or has been recovered on another console" deal. I have since recovered it, and changed my password etc. Was someone trying to steal it?

Most likely. Good thing you got it back, though. :)

Doubles is funny. We either get totally pwned, or we get great starts and the other team quits cause they get down early. :lol

You can't have a comeback if you quit ;)

Two flag on doubles is fun, I wish it had more than just the pit (can you say snow bound? with laser instead of sniper :0 pls)

I think assualt gametypes could work in doubles also (due to its similarities with flag types), but KoTH and Oddball just are not a lot of fun ("Do better").

I also think a VIP escort or even a territories (which ever has offense defense) could be fun and could introduce larger maps to doubles play since the action would be focused on the objective (high ground and ghost town for asymmetric types)

KotH, Oddball, 1 Flag, and CTF Classic (make flag return immediate, whatever) work best for doubles.

Scola,

I mentioned Multi-Flag for Snowbound in Team Objective. It wouldn't be that bad of a setup if they initiate it properly (flag spawns, etc.). Seems to have much bigger potential than previous and other current setups (Neutral Bomb, Multi-Bomb in Ghost Town, Neutral Bomb in Foundry, etc.)...

I just can't get my head around oddball and KoTH in doubles, we have not won a game of them yet.

Ya gotta go -8 in order to win Oddball. Numbers knows what I'm talking about!:D

Basically objectives in DOUBLES is based upon good spawns. Fuck skill in that shit.

Doubles needs to be respected by Bungie and needs to go back to Doubles BR + AR starts on symetrical maps only.

Both firefox and safari -current versions. I've tried troubleshooting it a few different times.. no luck. ( OsX 10.4.11 )

I am NOT on an intel mac, and I think this is a pretty widespread problem right now with macs and video.

As much as I love Snowbound... multi-flag simply work too well on it. It would be so awesome because the games would go so quickly! It takes less that 5 seconds for a person to move the flag from one base, over the top, and into the other base. And that's not even considering the fact that one-hit melees + shield doors = great fun. I hope Shishka is listening.

Yup. Considering there are Warthogs on Standoff as well, BRs are a must. Against a Warthog you have very little chance of killing the gunner or driver with an AR, and there are only a couple of BRs on the map bases.

I've always had fun with BR starts on Standoff though.

The BR matches on Standoff that actually turn into Standoffs each player around their respective rocks trying to get enough crossfire to get a kill before the opponents can back down and get their shields back are some of the most intense games I've had in Halo 3.

I liked Backwash for this reason too in Team Slayer BR's a team would take a base hill and attack then back down towards the base back of the hill when injured and it would create some solid games.

Yup, exactly the experience I've had with the map. Flushing people out with grenades is excellent, and if your team is good enough you can even push the other team back into their base and get control of their rock. In the correct gametype, Standoff really is a great map.

Has anyone ever figured out what the kill is that shows a guy falling backwards and the text is "iiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" ?

Lukems, shiska? help?

My guess is if an enemy is in the passenger seat of a vehicle, and you drive it off a cliff, killing your opponent. I don't know. It's an awesome ToD, though. :P

I really want to know what the "Collision" ToD is (has a picture of a tire on fire when you check the stats post-game) :lol

I AM using an Intel Mac and OSX 10.5.4 and have the same problems. Although it's only really with GameVee.

What kind of evidence do you have to back this up? Nothing changes about my playstyle between the two weapons, I just know that I have a chance at all times with a BR.
So you're gonna tell me that people use melee with a medium to long range weapon more so than a weapon that is short to (maybe) medium range? Okay.

BRs are littered about both maps though. I'm almost never without one on either map.

On Standoff run to the rear of the base at the beginning of the map. There is a BR gleaming in the sun and it is always there.

But yeah, BR starts certainly don't hurt those maps at all.

... are you serious? Every single game of Standoff that I play, there is always a shortage of BRs. There are what, 3 that spawn on each side in the beginning and take at least a minute or more to come back? That's way too few for a big map like Standoff (especially with a Warthog spawning each side and a laser in the middle). If you get killed in the beginning by some lucky Rocket shot or something, you're stuck waiting back at your base for a solid weapon to spawn. ARs are the most useless things on that map.

Valhalla, I'll agree with, there are lots of BRs in the bases. But what about when you (frequently) spawn out in the middle of the battlefield? No BRs to be found anywhere (except one in each cave, but half the time those aren't even there).

for some reason i remember someone saying that it is when the game was so lagging that it didn't know how you died

Valhalla is the only map that I ever feel has enough BRs but every now and they I have to scramble around for one while my teammates could use my help. Anyways, that argument is so old and broken. If BRs are plentiful enough for everyone to grab one the moment they spawn, why not cut out the middle man by letting the player spawn with one?

There's one in each cave, on each landing of the man cannon, on the pelican side of hill, and the turret side of hill. That's one of the many reasons Valhalla is godlike.

Hmm, I guess I forgot about those. I never really play Valhalla ARs so I barely even take notice.

PS. Valhalla is godly, especially for Team Snipers. Fin knows what I'm talking about.

So yesterday I played a game on The Pit where two people on the other team had quit, so it was 4v2. With 4 minutes left, the game was tied at 36, and they both spawned it that room up top, and decided to stay there and get the tie. I was just drooling as I mentally prepared my angry post about that room, but the game actually became kind of fun, with all four of us trying to get up there, and bombarding it with grenades. I watched the tape afterwards, and watching from in the room, it was just non-stop explosions. Finally with 30 seconds left I got rockets, and a rocket scared them out of their hiding spot, at which point another guy on our team sniped them. Good times.

Yesterday I also go my best stick ever:

Well not only that, but there are many areas on Valhalla and Standoff where you spawn right in the open, which is the area you need a BR for the most, and there are no BRs around.

I think thats either when you shoot them and they jump off a map, or what dom said.

I'm almost positive that just counts as a basic guardians kill. Although what Dom said might be right I'll have to try it out in a custom.

I imagine this post would be very different if the rockets didn't spawn or they never came out.

Yeah man, we were on a roll till that fucking MultiFlag game.

Were you in on the Sniper match on Standoff? It was awesome. It was basically both teams on each end of the map. So one team by the missle silos and one team by the crates. Pretty epic.

You're going to tell me that when you are medium to long range away from someone when you have an AR equipped you melee the air in front of you? Okay.

Yeah, it was sick.

I also went like 20-6 on Valhalla with a Sharpshooter.

Why would I be using the AR in longe range combat unless it's the only weapon I have? If it's medium range, it isn't likely that I will be able to get close enough to finish off the kill with a melee.

Yes... swearing, death threats, misguided promises to stop playing the game, etc. It was going to be exciting.
