The Animal Crossing sales are fucking insanity (not to mention everything else as well).

Isn't that quite easily the fastest selling Nintendo game ever? I can't think of any other Nintendo game that sold 30 million in a fucking year.

its weird cuz i luv the Switch. Just like i luv'd the Gamecube. But also like the Gamecube there is nothing i want to play on it. So much like Gamecube i have like less than 5 games for it.

Unlike Wii U which was a garbage console that everyone apparently hated. That i bought tons of games for. Wii also. I feel like there was way more Wii games that i wanted to play. I can't find a Switch game that i want. I've basically bought nothing since BOTW and Odyssey

I find this very intriguing. What sort of games did you buy on Wii and Wii U that you can't find on Switch?

I actually regret buying the switch back at launch. I have a few games but haven’t played it in years.

I think the days of me buying Nintendo consoles for Mario and Zelda are over.

Launch aligned (by quarter) NSW is more than 12M units ahead of the PS4.

This graphs are usually logistic curves - the PS4 one is nearly 'done' and flattening out - so lifetime sales of PS4 probably 125-130m..

..But Switch looks like it's only half way through the curve (or even earlier) - so that's extrapolates to 160million lifetime sales minimum

Normally that would be a rock solid prediction, but maybe lockdowns are accelerating demand and might see a much steeper drop of later for Switch.

I feel similar. I got my moneys worth out of breath of the wild and smash ultimate.... I did play pokemon sword but it was a chore to play and havnt touched my switch since.

Just wait until you see the sales figures for Skyward Sword HD
Jack Nicholson Reaction GIF
Are you suggesting Skyward Sword sales will compare to Animal Crossing New Horizons?

The game only sold 4 million copies on a console with over 100 million users.

It will definitely do better on Switch, but it's still just Skyward Sword. It won't do anything close to Animal Crossing or Mario Kart numbers.

I find this very intriguing. What sort of games did you buy on Wii and Wii U that you can't find on Switch?
well obviously mosts of the Wii U library is now on Switch. And it takes a lot to make me rebuy a game. I basically buy all the 3D marios, zeldas, metroids.

People have different tastes. Just like Nintendo’s games aren’t for everyone, rpgs or shooters or racers or sports games aren’t for everyone either.

I don’t understand how people run out of games to play.

How do people obtain such significant amounts of free time?

100% this.

My guess is many just rush through games and don't give a shit about what they're playing. My guess is most are like that.

I laugh when people say Bowser's Fury is only 2 hours long. Yeah maybe if you run through it all and play like you have ADD.

Drop the console warring.
And what game has been released on a 480P machine that everyone outside a fan of Nintendo craves? ill save you the time, zero. zero.

I've played only a handful of games on mine, most of which underwhelmed me tbh (even though they're all big titles), but Breath of the Wild is that amazing. Made the whole thing worth it to me.
Congrats, Nintendo. These numbers are sure something.

I don't regret buying my Switch at all, when I bought it I started renting every game I was interested in which saved me a ton of money, I got to complete everything I wanted to for about £30. I recently bought Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate which I'm loving, so obviously I can't wait for Rise next month.

Good riddance, the Switch's gimmick is infinitely better than the Wii or Wii U's.
I still think the WiiU had a better setup than the Switch. I can see the appeal of the Switch if you're travelling alot or a kid but I like the dual screen gameplay of the WiiU better. Remote play works fine too on the WiiU, at least in my house it does.

I'd play the Switch more if it had the Miiverse, that was such a cool feature.

Really hope Nintendo starts pushing hard this year. They really should keep the momentum going and build inertia going into the next console. If they handle things right (as in not like the Wii - WiiU or DS - 3DS) they could repeat this level of success again.

Most people don’t finish their games...people buy games because of fomo...

Hell, most of GAF complain about backlogs all the time so anytime I read about this so and so is collecting dust I roll my eyes...maybe back then, but now games are everywhere for every taste on every console or platform.

Srsly, I'm finding hard to even get up to date with old stuff I have on Steam lol. Then I see people complaining that "it's been so much time without announcements from Nintendo", which is false btw, like.. At least you have other platforms to play on, right? Or even on Switch there are shittons of games coming on a weekly basis and not all of them are shovelware... Like if it's not Mario or Zelda or any forgotten Nintendo IP "it doesn't count" lmao

And there is a lot more stuff heading to Switch. For example:

- Bravely Default 2
- Monster Hunter: Rise
- New Pokemon Snap
- Miitopia
- Mario Golf: Super Rush
- Monster Hunster Stories 2
- Splatoon 3
- Project Triangly
- The Good Life
- Bayonetta 3
- Breath of the Wild 2
- Yokai Watch 4
- Metroid Prime 4

Aside from all the Remakes and Ports from Wii U there is a lot of Third Party Content coming too.

They even think about bringing the new Shin Chan Game to the west

I wish Nintendo got back into the power console race BUT that's just me. Nintendo is monsterous and making all the right moves.
Well this is just gen 1 Switch. They can get into the power space for portables. They have a rock solid platform all they have to do is keep iterating on the tech. We could get a 4k machine that you can also take with you.

I'm glad the switch is selling so well because even though nintendo likes to be completely unpredictable I don't see them straying away from the concept too much.

Switch is a culmination of all their previous hardware and gimmicks (minus the 3d) in one nice package

Absolutely love my Switch. Granted, there are some game droughts that I make up for with my PS5 and PC, but whenever a new release comes out, it's never fails to impress, even the so-called "lazy" ports.

It seems like the console being a hit is WHY they are doing so many ports. Wii U sold a fraction of the hardware units of the current system. So these are games which most of their current customers have never purchased or played.

Does it kind of stink to pay full price? Sure, especially for Wii U owners, who bought the games in the last gen. But for me and tens of millions of other customers these are basically brand new games.

We should be getting a Metroid this year so that's a least one you'll hopefully be interested in. What other franchises did you buy on Wii?

Funnily enough I too purchased a Switch at launch. Sort of played it on and off for most of its time but in the past couple of months I have played it more than the other consoles I own (PS5 and Series X). I'm enjoying Mario 3D World a tonne (didn't enjoy it on Wiiu but finding much love for it now) and recently picked up the Blizzard collection, which features my fav combat racing game of all time, Rock N Roll Racing!

So in short, I've found love for the Switch and, compared to it's far stronger opponents, I've been almost exclusively playing the Switch and have pretty much abandoned the PS5 (still playing some Series X).

I dont understand how I got a warning for this statement. This is just my observation from myself and others who have discussed its impact or significance on the hobby.
The N in NeoGaf stands for Nintendo you need to be careful with your statement. Pikmin 3 super deluxe in 480p still looks good on my lite tho
