Why the hell would you load up the wallet months ahead of purchase time?
I mean, is there a single benefit of doing this?
Pretty sure Sony isn't a bank

New to subscription services?
How do I make sure it charges my card and not just clears out my wallet?
I know I had to do this recently with Game Pass and there was an option to make the rewards points cards pay for it.
I had planed to ditch PS+ last month.
I just got an email saying that PS+ auto renewed for the next year.
When I got mine I accidentally purchased the game streaming service whatever that was called back when it came out. I mailed them that I wanted to get PS+ instead, they cancelled and refunded it within 10 minutes of my mail, because I did not use the service since my purchase.Ill try but not sire if it’s worth the hassle.
Username checks out lolI am canceling those 5-10€ a month on sale for pornsites subs immediately so I don't renew for 30€ next month.
Which is fucking stupid and anti-consumer.That's exactly how they work, all of them.
Same thing happened to me, they charged me a full year of PS+ after I sold my PS4. Luckily I caught the transaction within the 14 day period (I don't check my bank account often so yeah) and I got my money back.Sony seem to be the only company where I have had Ps+ and Psnow auto renew turned off but as if by magic it renews a full year. I've had it out with their customer service a few times...
I had that after I sold my original glossy black Ps4. I certainly had turned it off but lo and behold, another year was added. Utter pain in the ass!Same thing happened to me, they charged me a full year of PS+ after I sold my PS4. Hah I bet, too bad most of it is censored.I am a high quality connoisseur.
They will refund it no problem. I got a refund for auto renew before and even CoD Cold war. I think legally autorenew even has a grace period.
sony refunding something... yeah totally gonna happen
Welcome to the subscription model, they all try to do you dirty.
Yes. I think auto-renewals with zero heads up is doing people dirty. Charge first, never inform.Using wallet funds for an automatic renewal is doing someone dirty? Seems like someone could say the exact same thing if they had a full PS wallet and they ignored it and fully changed the linked card...
OP just contact them, I'm sure you can get a refund. You can afford a mobile phone plan, right? If not maybe send a letter, I'm not certain what first class stamps cost but it's probably under a dollar.
Is blindly obeying the wife budgeting, though? xDResponsible budgeting doesn't make the OP broke.
On another hand, you should've bought the discs OP.
Simple solution: Defer the renewal until the user next logs into the console, then pop up a confirmation dialogue that makes it clear where the cash is coming from and how much.Using wallet funds for an automatic renewal is doing someone dirty? Well start fighting the Subscription industry as a whole because all of them put you on auto re-new when signing up.Which is fucking stupid and anti-consumer.

But of course, that goes against every axiom of a sub service when viewed through the financial lens. Preying on human fallibility is just too profitable.
It's a "GAF has a laugh at OP's expense" thread by my measure, with a spot of related discussion for after the yuks have been delivered.Well I don't see this as a thread about how sub services auto-renew, since I have no sympathy for someone that can't keep track of when they are due to be charged for something they signed up for... to me this is a thread about whether wallet funds should be used for auto-renewal. I mean it's the only thing that makes this even a little interesting.
More or less - that's been the undercurrent of the last three pages of savagery. Though to be clear, I'm not making excuses for OP, just grousing about the deplorable state of corporate behaviour.Otherwise, what can I say... what's the advice here? Don't sign up willingly for subscriptions if you can't afford them to act like all subscriptions act? Don't lose track of when you're planning to cancel a service?
I suppose as an analogue, the clerk could remind you about renewal and confirm on your way into the theater, though it would have been slow and bad for queues.Could have been making literally the same points about a Cinemax subscription in the late 90s.
Doesn't matter. The scenarios and ideas are ten times better than anything in western porn.Hah I bet, too bad most of it is censored.
The UK did.Well start fighting the Subscription industry as a whole because all of them put you on auto re-new when signing up.

So actually watching for the plot?Doesn't matter. The scenarios and ideas are ten times better than anything in western porn.
They can’t charge if you turned off auto-renewal. How does that even work? They would be open to all kinds of litigations. You’re either sure you had it on or not.The exact same thing happened to me a few days as well and I’m pretty sure I turned off the auto-renewal. Still got quite a bit of money in my wallet, but $60 gone without me knowing it hurts.
I actually keep auto-renew off on both my PlayStation and XBOX and generally renew with cards or digital codes. Pretty sure I had it off when I renewed it with a PSN Card I bought awhile back. That was like over a year ago though. If I remember correctly, I added an additional year when I had around 6 months left on my previous subscription. I don’t know. Maybe that had something to do with it possibly. They can’t charge if you turned off auto-renewal. How does that even work? They would be open to all kinds of litigations. If you added an additional year of course it would return to on. But there’s no way for them to get your money if it’s off.Pretty sure I turned it off like I typically do when I renewed it with a PSN Card I bought awhile back. That was like over a year ago though. Yeah, that’s probably what happened. I’m positive I had it off and I guess the new card activation activated the auto-renewal again. I could of sworn I turned it off again when I added the additional year though because that’s what I generally do on all my consoles. Oh well, it’s not the end of the world for me I suppose especially since I did plan on keeping PSN active anyway. If you added an additional year of course it would return to on. But there’s no way for them to get your money if it’s off.
Turn off your subscriptions people the moment you subscribe to something. Don’t let anything running. That’s my advice.
Because PC doesn't have subscriptions? What does this even mean, lol. This is why I prefer PC gaming.
For some movies yes, but with unique scenarios I also mean stuff like time stop etc. No plot just inventive deviant shit.So actually watching for the plot?
Did he not mention he bought a bunch of games @ $70? Auto renewal being on by default ain’t cool. You Sound like PlayStation support. It's your fault for not turning off auto renewal.
And it's 2 months. if you are already worried about your finances 2 months away... something aint right and I am sorry man.
It's a dark pattern most companies that offer a subscription utilize. Given its a subscription service where the point is to pay to keep the service active, I get why they turn it on by default. Where I hate this the most is when they offer you a free trial and auto-renew that. The good ones or the ones that are a little more thoughtful about it, will let you subscribe for the trial month and let you renew if you choose to.Sony did what you told them and renewed the subscription like you told them to. If you are unhappy, blame yourself. If you don't want auto renew....turn it off.
Bro... has nothing to do with PlayStation.Did he not mention he bought a bunch of games @ $70? Auto renewal being on by default ain’t cool. You Sound like PlayStation support.
