Well even though RE3R wasn't a big hit, RE8 was still riding off of the success of RE7 and RE2R. Not to mention it was marketed very well. This is great news and probably means RE9 will continue the first person view. Which is fine btw. The remakes have been satisfying that third person itch inbetween releases for the mainline entries.
