NextGen: Sony / Microsoft reinforce the need for console with speed while Google hopes to capture us with resolution. What could Nintendo do...?

Seems like we are getting a glimpse of the new metric gaming with be compared to, speed.

While resolution has been the deciding factor this gen, (not so much framerate), the speed of SSDs seems to be a main drive for next gen. Faster load time, VRam and ray tracing will be the standard.

As for Nintendo, a successor for Switch, a "Pro" version, doesn't necessary need to boost in resolution, but rather, only needs a bigger storage and better RAM to not seem outdated by Series X and PS5

Nintendo could:
1.) unlock the ability to patch a game and uninstall it and play the earlier physical version
2.) focus on making a sku with passive cooling (if an iPhone and iPad can, then hopefully maybe so could a switch pro)
3.) fix the controllers (dpad issues, joy con drift, etc.)
4.) backwards / fwds compatibility (the portable/docked already shows most devs can handle compiling games with a low/med quality setting so adding a “high” setting should be trivial.

quibbling: stadia claims to bring convenience like Netflix.

What resolution Stadia is talking about lol

I mean you need to do at least the minimum of research to write a crap article:

Considering that current games never reach the native resolution of the screen or 1080 in TV mode, there is definitely no need for a resolution boost...

Only reason switch didnt have 64gb or more of flash space is that they are just plain greedy. And same with the ram + SoC.

Switch were outdated when it came out, it is outdated vs current gen (~1/4 xbox one performance when docked) and nothing will make it look better than what it is vs next gen.

They dont compete with home consoles and even 10x boost to performance would not keep up with next gen anyway, because switch is just too damn weak vs home consoles

So, they just do what they have been doing, because they dont need/want to compete in the same playfield

Google hopes to capture us with accessibility, but it's to a half baked overpriced service with latency ridden issues, piss poor support, false marketing, loss of ownership rights and an awful outdated software library of games priced at a premium and they are failing as they should be.

Next gen nintendo games will hopefully all be 1080p and that's it. They know that graphical power is not their thing, they are about making great fun games with the best IPs, hopefully next gen they will have some competent looking games, IMO anything below xbox one level looks bad and not enjoyable to see, last gen every game was a pain to play cause all the jaggies and low-res, those were bad times, this gen was great to see 3d games looking good with an acceptable IQ finally.

Nintendo has an arsenal of IPs that rival Disney. That alone is enough, let alone a massive stockpile of cash and an extraordinary fan base in Japan. Nintendo simply needs to continue being Nintendo and lean heavily into its brand. It’s something that Microsoft is attempting to aspire to through acquisitions and what Sony needs to broaden into a larger audience.

with that said, cloud is obviously the future. But is likely to only become obvious into the twilight of the ps5 and Xbox series era. My bet is that Xbox becomes king only once the cloudgaming ecosystem flourishes around 2023 ish. Azure is a force to be reckoned with on so many fronts.

There is nothing more accessible than a Nintendo Switch. Stadia still need you to carry a controller around, even if you get Stadia through your phone. if that is the case then Switch is a better deal all around. Trying to beat Nintendo at accessibility is futile.
