In theaters October 6. Based on David Grann’s broadly lauded best-selling book, Killers of the Flower Moon is set in 1920s Oklahoma and depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror. Directed by Martin Scorsese and Screenplay by Eric Roth and Scorsese, the film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, and Jillian Dion.

Been looking forward to this one for a while.

This is one for the theaters.

Isn't that Brendan Fraser in the last shot?

I ain't the only one who pumped the air when I saw Brendan Fraser in the trailer. This has to be the second movie with Leonardo involved with a Native American woman as the other one was The Revenant. He's also been known to do charity work for the American Indian, so it's not surprising.

DeNiro in a movie set in the old west. Hmm...tough sell, not gonna lie, especially since he's conspicuously not speaking in the trailer.

I saw a quote from him the other day talking about his age and career

It's quite tragic obviously. But there's also something beautiful about how he's still enthusiastic about the medium and feels like he still has new aspects to explore.

Absolutely. Anything more from him is a gift at this point. It's amazing that he's still taking risks and pushing himself.

I thought this was coming to Apple plus….

It will be since it's being produced by Apple Studios but it's also getting a theatrical release. I would imagine Scorsese insisted upon it. I would expect the time between the theatrical release and it being available streaming won't be that long. I'll still be seeing it in the cinema though.

I do hope he is around to make more movies but he is 80. We'll be very lucky if we have him for another 20 years :(

80 seems to be the new 70. There are still a number of major film directors in their 80ies making new movies so as long as Scorsese is healthy there's time for a couple more.

That list on The Wrap isn't complete BTW. I notice Paul Verhoeven and Alejandro Jodorowsky were missing from that list.

Yeah, he had a similar arrangement with Netflix for The Irishman. Theatrical release first then available within a month or so via stream.

Looks great. Love Scorsese but I wish he switched up his actors more often. Leo and Deniro are top class though. I feel like Leo is playing too many roles lately.

It’s getting a theatrical release for awards consideration. Amazon did the same with Air (which is awesome btw).

Yeah real history is a bitch ain't it? Instead of being faux outraged about it do some basic research about the Osage Indian murders.
Imagine how effective propaganda would be if the public thought "It can't be propaganda if it actually happened". You could almost write a joke about that idea for the movie Idiocracy.

Real history isn't a bitch. Selecting specific examples from history that serves your propaganda campaign is what's a bitch.

If you view all media through that culture warrior lens then you're going to have a very boring time. The main character is a white guy. It's clearly not trying to say that all white people are evil.
Yeah, it's definitely not trying to propagate the idea that white people are violent, greedy, colonizers...

I like how recognizing overt racist propaganda makes me a culture warrior.

Mods, please have mercy on me and just remove my posts + bar me from this thread. I am a moth to a flame with this stuff.

So what? Can't have movies that show some of the really fucked up things that white people did to Native Americans? Even something as intriguing as the Osage situation?

You really think Martin Scorsese of all people is doing this film because of propaganda against the white man?

Ah yes, clearly Martin Scorsese wants to take down white people. He's just churning out that "overt racist propaganda". Maybe take a step back and consider if you're in too deep on that stuff.

And yeh, seeing racism in everything and declaring it to be propaganda is pretty typical of a culture warrior. Watching so many film discussions devolve into talking about the extent to which something is woke/problematic has become incredibly dull.

Irishman was a one-and-done for me but this looks like a step up, great stuff.

3hr26m though, no chance I'm not waiting for a home release.

Man it’s going to suck when Scorsese dies. No one makes movies as good as him

Agreed. Even though I didn't like The Irishman as much as his previous works, it's still miles above most schlock that comes out these days.

I also feel the same way about Mel Brooks and his comedies (although he hasn't been in the director's chair since Dracula: Dead and Loving It in 1995). One of the best to ever direct.

Hope you're able to read my post when you come back. That interpretation is not only incorrect, but may be the least charitable interpretation of a Scorsese film I've seen so far.
That's like saying Goodfellas and Casino were intended to propagate the idea that all Italians are violent, greedy criminals.

One non-hypothetical, common misinterpretation of Goodfellas/Casino in particular (by concerned moms and gangster wannabes alike) is that they glorify organized crime.
Scorsese's message if anything is the opposite, that crime doesn't pay for many of its characters.

I can't wait to see this! Scorsese is a BEAST with the camera and picking the right actors! Put Deniro and Leo in EVERYTHING as far as I'm concerned! They're MAGIC! I said what I said!

I also hope anyone who complains about historical inaccuracies complains about this because I know there will be liberties taken like with The Revenant. But that's what makes cinema... Cinema... Especially with true stories... Because we're being entertained! And Scorsese is a MASTER!

Goodfellas is still my favorite film by him. Again, I said what I said! He is a national treasure! His movies always move me...

I'd cry if I met him... Just like I'd cry if I met any of the Star Trek actors!

Only director even sniffing Scorsese's feet is Spielberg. Though he's lost a touch (like 2%) in recent years.
