People are too tribalistic to view it that way.

I think if Halo had been better perceived and to that effect better produced, maybe we'd be in a different conversation now, but the bad feedback from Halo has made people even more tribalistic.

For reference Halo has a 7.1 on imdb, 70 percent on the tomato meter, 6.7/10 average critic rating, 5/10 top critic rating, 52% audience approval, with a 2.9/5 average

And of course Halo is Microsoft's most prestigious show. If it were me, I would have got the showrunners of The Expense involved, which is ironic since they'll be hitting Amazon's God of War.

I think Sony "largely" gets it that you have to have good people behind the wheel. Why they're obsessed wtih Ruben Fleischer, I have no idea.

They got Chad Stahleski for Ghost of Tsushima who seems to get what to do there.

Neill Blomkamp is an interesting choice for Gran Turismo as I would have gone with Edgar Wright. That movie just has bomb written all over it.

How dare they taint it's completely legitimate user rating!

Many people saw premieres and had every right to review it. Those giving it 1/10 without having seen it at all... super questionable and petty.

Now we have a significant number of people trying to counter the review bomb, which isn't great either, but if there is bloodied water, probably best to keep the show as positive as possible so people aren't put off and give the show a chance.

To answer your question, I am interested in the quality of the show, because to me it's a barometer on where ND is right now in terms of their writing, if it's still a ridiculous wokefest or if that virus is starting to go away. It isn't in bad faith, I miss Naughty Dog producing good games instead of just pouring their ideology all over their products.

It's interesting because all video game fans should want this show to succeed as it can help bring more people into gaming and give more credence to our hobby. This is a beginning.

Well yes, this is a videogame forum and ND used to be one of the production studios I liked, I am interested in discussing them in a videogame forum, yes. I think you greatly overstate how much I care about the company I think you are actually projecting how much invested you are in their new direction. It's pretty clear it's a divisive game, but well, let's see how user reviews go, I find them more interesting than the mainstream media, since those have become very unreliable.

I don't think the show has any barometer of where ND is right now, Druckmann maybe involved but the show is not his work or ND's.
So this won't tell you anything other then a TV Studio made a good 80 min episode out of the beginning of a fantastic 2013 game.
The only way to get back the ND you're after is to go back in time to just after TLOU was released and stop Druckmann meeting Anita Sarkeesian

Apparently Neil Druckmann has been very much in touch with the writers of this show. I was initially thinking the same thing you were, until I saw some news story discussing the interaction between the writer and Druckmann, Naughty Dog is very much involved in the production and the direction of the show. You might be right, but hey, the pendulum seems to be swinging back to normality in some things, so, the hope that ND will become normal again will die last.

The review bombing isn't helping dude. 9.6 over there on IMDB...and the review bombing started on Metacritic is also failing. After going down to a 7.6, it's now at 8.3 after just a few hours.
Plus Rotten Tomatoes 9.6.

Okay I watched the first episode. This was masterful. Really loved the first episode. Reminded me of how much I loved the first game.

That scene... Always gets you. I knew it was coming.. still got me. Damn good performances.

Was instantly sold on Pascal's Joel but wasn't sure about Bella's Ellie.. but damn after like 5 mins I couldn't tell a difference.

Wish they released 3 episodes per week. I'm in for the entire season. But as soon as season 2 is announced I'm done. Unless it doesn't follow TLOU part 2 but rather stays with Joel/Ellie.
