heh. even though i've had the game for a year, i was considering buying this just to support the localization. then i saw the price here and a big NOPE started flashing in my brain. paying basically as much as what i originally paid, except digital only and censored..

i'll......have to think about it.

Never played a game from this series, but I really liked Koei Tecmo games recently so I gave it a try. Waiting for my physical edition, as I live in France.

Seeing that it was the same price for me to import my copy today as it would have been to buy it off the eshop here in the states cemented my decision to skip the digital version. It's going to be hilarious if Devil's Third indeed comes out at 30$

they really screwed up the goodwill with that pricing

demo can only get them so far
it is the core fans who wanted to support this IP who are raging the most right now

My wifi keeps disconnecting from the WiiU while downloading this. It's happened with other games too. Anyone else have this problem and know how to fix it? I just keep restarting the system and it seems to work for a good 20 minutes then it disconnects again.

Finished the Demo. It's looking good but there are lot of decisions regarding the controls that I think take away from how nice it is to use the gamepad as the camera obscura. Some of them will just take time to get used to so it's not a deal breaker but still unfortunate. I'd say at this point I probably prefer the wiimote controls.

Stuff like not being to switch to your inventory after pressing the map button is pretty annoying as well. I was halfway through the second chapter before I realized there was an inventory button.

The hand holding was a bit much especially when fighting ghosts and you keep getting accidentally getting text messages when getting to close to a path they don't want you going down.

Still game is looking amazing and I'm looking forward to playing it in a few months.

Played a bit earlier. The controls are really clunky for a 2015 release, but I like what I've seen so far thematically. Graphics are surprisingly good as well. Looking forward to playing it more once the sun goes down.

Pre ordered the game and I don't even have a Wii U.

I'm a sucker for horror games, probably going to finish the previous ones first before this.

Download for the demo is super slow but commencing nonetheless! Might not get to it this weekend but I hope to try it out sometime soon and decide whether or not to fully commit to it or not. Super excited regardless!

I got myself a refurbished PS2 3 years ago so I could play the Megaten games and all my horror games!

A bit late, but you can't. Remote downloads only work when redeeming codes on the site...at the moment.

Wait what? Really? You used to be able to purchase and download remotely all of the games that were (at least) Nintendo published. (I did this with Splatoon, for example, not long ago.)

When did this change?

Not sure why there isn't an option to buy the game from the start instead having to manage two big downloads one after the other. I might have to wait until after work just to start the full download.

Edit: Oh, can grab both at once. Don't mind me.

First Drop totally nails the atmosphere.

A bit disappointed in the game pad camera though. Not nearly as seamless as I was hoping.

gonna grab the demo when I get a chance. I'm not one for horror games usually but the gameplay looks fun. too bad the Canadian price is so obscene, probably not going to buy this at full price even if I like the demo.

it's not Nintendo's fault our currency sucks ass but it's not like that makes it hurt any less

First Drop was a mixed bag, the cutscenes and in-game graphics look good, but the map and fonts look awful. Movement feels pretty tanky but I like the way the camera controls actually. No way am I going to be buying the full game at the price they're asking though. $30 CAD would have been a reasonable price.

EDIT: The trial downloaded and installed fully within an hour of starting it for me. Not sure if Canadian e-shop has different servers that were less bogged down or if I got lucky...

Downloading this is seriously going to take forever; in 20 minutes, I've downloaded 700 MB. I have 9MB/s minimum on Steam, Nintendo; PSN isn't even this bad.

It's a lot clunkier than it should be especially with the game forcing you out of the viewfinder at points aside from its other issues.

It should have been press X then move the gamepad towards target instead of face character towards target, bring gamepad up, then press X and aim as it is now.

They really should have polished it up for the Western release especially with how long it took for us to get it.

The lack of a 180 turn in 2015 is unacceptable even with the controls not being a pure tank style.

Press down on the analog stick then ZL, the game tells you this in the intro. Unless you don't consider that an actual 180 degree turn.

Played the demo, can see how this can appeal to some but really didn't like it very much. Camera and movement was clunky as hell and not that fun. When they wanted me to do an escort mission with these clunky ass controls (they're bad enough with good controls) in the second chapter I was teetering back on forth on whether I should even finish the damn demo. Oh well, $50 saved I guess, hope you guys get more enjoyment out of it.

It isn't really although after a bit of practice it does seem to work well enough I'll admit. I was trying to do it the usual way where you press down and the button simultaneously and instantly turn. This is just turning around and doing a quick camera reset really. That's why using the L button works just as well.

Are the beginning cutscenes supposed to have no sound? Kinda weird, and I think it would add to the atmosphere with sound. Only played like 3 minutes so far.

Your using headphones on the gamepad right? You need to play on the tv.

Ah. Shoulda figured that out. I'm using a monitor without speakers, so I wouldn't have heard a noise come out, but I can plug in headphones to it easily enough. Thanks! Woulda went through the game thinking something was wrong lol.

Could be a broken WLan chip in your Wii U or a broken (or simply bad) router, or some interference signals from your microwave, a ghost haunting you or a bad internet connection that breaks now and than.

Restart your router or set another WLan channel in your router. Check your WLan signal and move your Wii U or your router a little bit and check if the signal gets better. Call for an exorcist or check how crowded the WLan channels are in your area (there are many free mobile apps to check this).

I've downloaded the trial on the Wii U and I'll give it a spin once I finish Corpse Party Blood Drive. It's been a good month for Japanese horror games.

Thanks for the tips guys! Regardless, it finally downloaded, so now I'll delay fixing it 'till the problem happens with the next game I DL. I'll bookmark this for now.
