Giant walking simulator, boring puzzles. It has all been done before much better.Botw is the mgs5 of the series.
There is a solid foundation but they failed to make a good game out of it.
The perfect scores are one of the many failures of gaming journalism.
6/10, no more.
Also lost the ability to kill people that threw death threats at his facehe lost ability to jump in the last game
Some games are worth more than the sum of its parts
Well, there's Skyrim. That game was declared GOTY 5 months before it released. Dragon groupies were coming out of the woodwork because no game had ever had dragons in it before. Also there's Dark Souls which people had to mention in every gaming topic for years as if it were the benchmark all games should strive for. It's not a bad game, but it is probably the most overrated game I've ever played.
Yep. It's like ghost of tsushima is just a generic ubisoft game. Except somehow everything clicks perfectly (story, combat, world) that it makes it turn into something greater. Some games are worth more than the sum of its parts

It was still overrated as hell. People just couldn't shut up about it. It's like it was the second coming of Christ.I'll give you Skyrim. BotW is 10x better than Skyrim.
But, Dark Souls, nah. It's not quite as good as Demon's Souls or Bloodborne, but it's still one of the best games of the last 15 years.
Only because it's a Nintendo exclusiveI'd take that game over Witcher 3, RDR2 and Zero Dawn any day.
If anyone doubts this, just tell them to look at the reviews for Skyward Sword.I never understand how zelda consistently get 10/10 though. If the game had a different name and publisher (but was the exact same game) it would be rated lower.
Not really, I own PS4/5 and Switch and I’m not exactly hard core Zelda fan but vastly enjoyed BotW over those games I mentioned.Only because it's a Nintendo exclusive
- You call that a good counter argument? It's obvious that's integral to the complaint; The same enemy is the boss fight for all 4 bosses.- Bosses kinda look the same because they're supposed to be different versions of the same character
- "same enemies in every place". It's not really the case because of Lizalfos and Moblins and others. I get it that need more, but it's not really that bad
- "story sucks"... it was the point. People we're tired of story focused Zelda games. The game is very much about gameplay, and a simple "yeah, you need to kill the bad guy" story. It's like you say that the Doom story sucks. Bitch, please
- No Man's Sky 2? I bet that you killed with this joke in stand-up comedy. No?! Yeah, you suck
True but remember making a open world is time consuming, so expect the same kind of dungens as the first game, dungeons are just not focus here, the open world design is.Game of the decade. Can Nintendo surpass it? For sure, just add dungeons in BoTW2 and we're golden.
I think you're confused with astrobot fansI don't know anything about Kratos.
Cures cancer too, so I hear.
Testimonial: I was feeling depressed and alone. My love affair with Nintendo was gone and I was contemplating buying a gaming PC but then I played BOTW and I was revitalized. Even my prostate cancer was gone! Thanks Nintendo!
Sure, it is heavily exaggerated, but not wrong.
-The world is huge, yet it feels like you get a korok seed or a shrine most of the time as a reward which is repetitive, uncreative and makes exploration significantly less fun (atleast for me). It doesn't help that the shrines all have the same design. Seriously, you can count the exceptions of substantial rewards with one hand which is just sad for an exploration driven game.
- the bosses all look the same too which is correct.
-the story is not terrible, but it's not great either. Most of it already happened so it doesn't connect to you, the player, directly and you can't interact with it in any way other than watching little movies. The story in the present is, aside from the Zora and Gerudo one maybe, very lackluster and boring. There are no plot twists and the whole story is presented to you from the old man after you beat the Great Plateu.
- lacking enemy variety is true as well.
- the dungeons and shrines feel indeed, very similar to each other. Be it Divine Beasts or Shrines, sadly.
I think these are all valid critic points against BOTW and I seriously hope BOTW2 will fix all of them. BOTW is a great game, but it has many flaws that can be dramatically improved upon.
