Don't believe Aaron Greenberg no CGI trailers statement for the Showcase

The show will start, some montage up in our face, then a message from big Phil, a few mins of him trying to hold back the laughter from the lies hes mugging us off with, then the next scene will be a full on 1st party CGI .

Whether cinematic or gameplay, as long as it says running/captured on Xbox Series X, it's completely fine. All else is of no interest to me because I'm looking for them to showcase the capabilities of the console specifically.

lol why would he lie so close to the conference. He would be proven wrong and ridiculed almost immediately.

This is clearly a dig at Sony who had tv trash, cg trash and other bs stuff he’s saying they won’t have. Sony took advantage of ms fucking up at e3 2013, I’m guessing Aaron and co. Picked up on the internet outrage and tailored their show to take full advantage of Sony having arguably their worst show since 2005.

If you are a true gamer you would be celebrating it or at worst hoping for it to be true. Sony was the savior of the industry when ms was down chasing dumb trends, now let’s hope for our sake Phil saves us from jimbo’s vision of PlayStation.

@ SlimySnake SlimySnake I hear you. Obviously they already have this presentation in the can by now, it would be quite inedible if they had a bunch of CGI trailers in there but Greenberg was out making these kinds of statements. :messenger_grinning:

Aaron is a spin doctor. Note the word "Full" in the following.

"None of our first party games in the show are full CG trailers."
Exactly, so as long as all trailers shown from first party are just 99,9999% CGI then he can claim to not be lieing ;P

Who even cares? Games these days still have CGI cutscenes, that's what he's referring to... I'm sure the games will still have some CGI cutscenes. So what? If they're done well they're still pretty cool. He's just saying there won't be any games that are full CGI rendered logos etc. Set your expectations learn to read.

Not sure what I've lost, we haven't seen anything yet. Just for reference, this is what you said:

There's no weird agenda here.. what he means is the trailers aren't going to be just full on cgi and will show in-engine shots/gameplay.

Are people that insecure because that Sony showcase was ass?
First MS showcase?

They are pretty synonymous with chucking CG trailers in their showcases, I'm not surprised fans are voicing their opinions on that.

It has nothing to do with Sony and its interesting that was your first go to example...

Am I the only one who can see where he said no cgi?

No, you are not the only one. However, Aaron's comment ("Everything is either in-game footage, in-engine footage, or in-game footage with some cinematics"). They should not be showing anything that is pre-rendered (in-engine footage) anymore or use different wording. It's deceptive marketing to say in-engine footage because it's presented in trailers as actual gameplay.

It’s presented as in-engine footage if it’s in-engine footage. Actual gameplay has a different meaning.

How is it deceptive again?

Tag, you're it.
Why are stupid threads against Sony/Playstation deleted or blocked in a heartbeat, while this one and other trolling Xbox threads are still live and well?

As noted by others, he said there wouldn't be FULL CG trailer, not that there wouldn't be any CG.
Also people keep mistaking "in engine" for gameplay. Just because something shown is "in engine" doesn't mean it's representative of what the game will actually look like during gameplay

If you are wrong, then you need to make your pfp Aaron Greenberg for 1 week.
I have no problems with that. As long as 50% of the 1st party games are gameplay and 50% of the 1st party games they show has a release date.

Aaron Greenberg is a professional liar and is not to be trusted, ever.

There is not much of a distinction anymore between "in-engine cutscenes" and full blown CG, it's not 1998 anymore. You can do a lot of things with in-engine cutscenes that get very very close to CG and are not representative of the actual games, this has been true for a while.

OP's thread is pure unsubstantiated trash. Don't understand what went through their head when clicking "post", but it couldn't be much.

All that's gonna happen is the same thing that happened with trailers for Ragnarok, Forbidden West etc.
At the bottom of the screen it will say "mix of gameplay and cinematics." That is all.

See this Helldivers 2 trailer for reference: (which starts with CGI, switches to in-engine cinematics and gameplay..and specifies at the bottom of the screen)

Don't play stupid because we're about to see some cool (cooler?) shit that won't be on your preferred platform.

Whatever makes you feel better though!

The expected implications is ton of games already with gameplay ready to be show.

The actual implications is 2 hours were will get just acquisitions announcement after acquisitions announcement.

CG trailers are retarded.

"In engine" is bullshit...

Unless someone is playing the game... don't believe..

And even then.. with Xbox you always find out afterwards they are using a PC.

When was the last time an acquisition was announced at an Xbox showcase?

At this point it feels like people are just making shit up honestly.

The fact that Xbox is so on this "CGI" thing in their tweets. They should just focus on their own event because they are not in a good state right now.

Because there is a visual downgrade from in-engine to in-game footage that is often presented as one and the same. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a huge culprit of this practice and Horizion Forbidden West. Footage tends to be presented in a manner that the consumer is unable to distinguish gameplay from in-engine. See Horizon Forbidden West timestamp:
