No, I was responding to the resolution troll posts by xbox fans with no new games to talk about and pointing out correctly affects and alpha tank performance on both consoles.

You called about 4 or 5 poeople warriors in this thread alone, what is wrong with you ? Do you think your better ? LOL
Yeah I'm a shit head who likes to argue. Big difference

Zeus’ butthole

why does Joe Miller keep getting parroted on GAF? Why does this guy matter?

I would say the same if people routinely posted Timdog or Colteastwood tweets.

Why should we care about any of these tweets?

also, this thread….holy shit

I’m starting to think analysis/war threads should just get moved and contained in a separate sub forum

But that's why the game is so dark. It was mentioned multiple times - I think? - in the video that you can see artifacts on grass and so on. But due to being dark it is not really visible.
Would be more interesting to see it in a broad daylight.
It is not that darker with HDR.

You back to being a Warrior I see.

What you copied didn't have the word upscale in it.
What I copied is directly from AMDs post about fidelity fx and CAS.
You are both wrong. It's ok. It's time to admit it though.
I already explained and you continue making fun of yourself.

Upscaling generates a non-native imagine in fact it called an upscalled image... pixels are created and not rendered.

Reconstruction uses actual rendered pixels to create a full native image... there is no upscaling involved.

BTW the use of upscaling algorithm on FidelityFX CAS is optional... any it is a addiction to the CAS effect.

No. You are taking the meaning from 20 years ago. Words evolve and upscaling now encompasses reconstruction. AMD, Nvidia, and every Tech site on the planet must be wrong when they call taa reconstruction upscaling.

I think they need to replace the Politics forum with Console Wars forum and see which one gets more heated.
We don’t have a Politics forum and should stay like it is.

Uncharted bunghole
The last week has been so bizarre, After a drought of decent games, we finally get the amazing Returnal then an eye-watering show from R+c, and what do I see, people trying to piss all over their parades.

Seriously, sigh.

I think people should celebrate everytime we get a good game no matter the platform. I know that Sony has been doing a good job with giving us some great titles to play but I'm sure the same will happen to Xbox further down the line. There's really no need to be shitting on games on either platform unless they are your typical garbage. At the moment I'm extremely jealous of PS5 owners because there's so many titles that I wait to play but getting a PS5 is extremely difficult at the moment. At least with Xbox I'm able to play those games on my PC so I don't feel as bad whenever Xbox gets a must play title. Unfortunately at the moment Microsoft isn't really offering me anything that I want to play but I'm sure that will change at some point.

I think part of that is just the sheer amount of particles and density in the scenes. It’s the one thing that struck the most. Having played the game, the 1080p internal resolution doesn’t surprise me, but you are treated to a good experience that looks visually impressive.
I could see that. It does strike me as odd that ratchet and clank has(afaik) as many or more particle effects with a higher native resolution. I know two different dev teams, two different genres, but it proves that it Can be done

Well they need that because after the reviews the salty is real because they don't have anything to look or play in the near future.
Ehhh so this is better? To bring the Console warring here and make ridiculous claims like that?

It will change without a doubt.

You have a lot of good stuff to look forward to from Microsoft.

A new fallout, please don't fuck it up, I am a big fan of the series, an elder scrolls, and another RPG by the people that made bards tale, maybe a new quake, that would make me go nuts tbh, I am a massive quake fan, a halo game that will be vastly improved because of all the time its got, etc. The only downside I see is you're going to have to wait for some time, perhaps a couple of years but it's all coming.

I am not a big fan of some of the Microsoft fanboys on this forum, I ain't gonna lie, but for normal users like yourself, I want you to enjoy your games.

Life is too short to keep arguing about dumb shit like oh it's dropped a frame here or there. Just have fun, tell a joke, make some fun of people in a nice way and move on.

Yes, I am getting drippy in my old age.

Both AMD and nVidia doesn’t use the term upscaling for reconstruction algorithms.
"AMD FidelityFX Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS), which enables visual sharpness with optional upscaling to restore detail lost after Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA) is applied is currently our most widely adopted effect. However, our new effects are now also being integrated into some of the hottest games available now and coming soon."

Please read again lol

They have an optional pass with upscaling over it.

“ Contrast Adaptive Sharpening (CAS) is a low overhead adaptive sharpening algorithm with optional up-sampling. The technique is developed by Timothy Lottes (creator of FXAA) and was created to provide natural sharpness without artifacts.”

“ You can use the q, w and e keys to set different CAS modes. q sets it to no CAS, w sets it to up-sampling, and e sets it to sharpen only.”

CAS is to sharpen but you have the option to sharpen and after upscale.

AMD is not dumb to use the terms wrongly.

Edit - The fact your example was that “upscaling” word in the FidelityFX CAS (a Sharpen algorithm) means you really dig deep in Google and just find that reference... the hard work you did tells you more than you think.

You mean the Halo infinite with static screens and not much going on - if you think that is taxing just to render static low quality stuff at high resolution even at 8K then go and enjoy it - most people understand quality pixels and lots of movement and effects going on is far more taxing.

If this confuses you, go watch digital foundry Valhalla on XSX when 1 torch is used in a dark room, you know the scene, with lots of aphas and effects destroys XSX frame rate.

Now crank that up with ray traced global illumination and lots of particles and there you go.

What do you want next gen, lots of effects and stuff going onscreen which cant be done on old consoles, or games which just have more pixels and look like last gen games ?

I will sum it up for you to keep it simple .....Pixel pushers vs on screen action and effects.
I'd sacrifice ray tracing to the ancient gods if it meant I could play a GTA game with fully interactive and destructible environments.

I know, right?

Here I am just happy that some people get to play a cool new game while looking forward to Ratchet and Clank. I mean, I'm not bitter or anything in my lack of PS5 or LG OLED in my life. If you have a PS5 than please support this cool game.
I'll just be here if you need me.

Q: How does DLSS differ from traditional anti-aliasing solutions?
A: DLSS is powered by NVIDIA RTX Tensor Cores. By tapping into a deep learning neural network, DLSS is able to combine anti-aliasing, feature enhancement, image sharpening and display scaling which traditional anti-aliasing solutions cannot. With this approach, DLSS delivers up to 2X greater performance with comparable image quality to full resolution native rendering.

Q: Why don’t I just use upscaled TAA instead?

A: Depending on the resolution, quality settings, and game implementation, some may prefer TAA in one game and DLSS in another.

Better?

Every hardware have limitations but nobody here is ever going to know what they actually are. I bet it’s barely even people with a hobby in coding and electronics discussing most of the time but we still have people pretending to be experts on software optimization and computer building.
It's called forum. If you can't stand such people you shouldn't stay on it

“ DLSS: Image Reconstruction for Real-time Rendering with Deep Learning”

“ He further demonstrates why scaling and image reconstruction for real-time rendering is an extremely challenging problem, and examines the cause of common artifacts produced by traditional up-sampling techniques.”

The distinction between scaling and image reconstruction is pretty clear by nVidia.

So why did you not posted a related link instead something not related to the discussion?

A answer you... because you couldn’t not find anything more... and you won’t because it doesn’t exists.

Using a sharpening filter as proof of image scaling is the same as image reconstruction is really weird and desperate... even more when you seems to not have read the CAS description.

Thanks man. If you just posted this to begin with we could of saved a lot of time. From your link from the video that quote is from.

Edit
I used CAS As an example because it's commonly used with taa upscaling to give better results than just taa alone.

Man you really doesn’t understand, no?

Upscaling exists and DLSS uses it (looks for DLSS AI Scaling on Google)... but it is a complete different concept of reconstruction.

The first version of DLSS used high resolution render to reconstruct the actual final image... after that they removed that these high resolution render and now are using that AI upscaling tech in add to the reconstruction.

The difference? The first one need to render in their farm the high resolution render... the new one not.

And we are moving in circles now because I already explained that to you that DLSS 2.0 uses scaling too... I made sure to add that I was talking about DLSS 1.0.

So I started thinking. What's a game I know used temporal reconstruction. Oh yeah quantum break. Here's what remedy says. Save you time they use upscale and reconstruction interchangeably
"Quantum Break's 1080p output is a temporal reconstruction from four previous 720p 4xMSAA frames. This approach gets us high pixel quality in combination with complex shading and effects, allowing us to achieve a cinematic look. However, varying sample counts between passes and temporal upscaling makes talking about resolution, as it is traditionally understood, complicated in the case of Quantum Break"

Now just for shits I thought I wonder what ethomaz thought about quantum break
Yeap it works well for a bad IQ... it was trash.

I can see it being a option for low hardware but the compromises are too big for my taste... I will say it is unplayable for me because how it is blurry and artifacts.

I will take 900p native over this 1080p upscalled.

They clearly said they are using both lol

I indeed prefer native 900p over 1080p upscalled.

BTW Quantum Break IQ is very bad... really really blurry.

Can you find what I said about Killzone Shadown Fall MP? You will find I was very polite to Quantum Break because Shadow Fall reconstruction tech reached the unplayable.

Why are you starting to made up claims?

No they are clearly using the words interchangeably. You know since temporal reconstruction is a form of upscaling.

I quoted you. You responded to it. About quantum break which uses temporal reconstruction. You called it upscaled.
