You can't explain just by crying "tools" that you lose a "2 TF advantage", and on top of that perform up to 26 percent worse.... that's a big performance delta gap in favor of PS5.
The only thing that's starting to make sense are KittyYuko's leak on XSX architecture (RDNA1 CU's, Render back-ends RDNA 2).... which pretty much buttresses what MLiD said.... Xbox Series X is a server blade APU dressed up as a console.
So MS saying XSS will run XSX games at lower resolution with same frame rates? Just another lie to add to the list. Anyone buying a Series S is stupid to do so when digital PS5 offers better than Series X, unless you are buying it soley for Gamepass titles.

Don't get me wrong, even same performance would be a loss for the XSX. MS has advertised it as the most powerful console. Consumers expect better.
I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now. They have waited for all the latest RDNA2 features, it might take time for 3rd party devs to get up to speed with them. If a year from now nothing has changed, I'll sell my XSX and get a 3080.

Well this has been quite a twist!
If PS5 holds the multiplatform advantage going forward (on balance, that is - I'm sure they will trade blows depending on the game), then I don't see what selling point Microsoft even has any more. Other than maybe gamepass and more generations of BC. Yay, I guess.
It's looking like there will not be the generally consistent advantage one platform had over the other in the previous gen (which got flipped when pro/one-x refreshes came out). I think this is good news for the industry, but pretty terrible news for Microsoft.

I wouldn't, the One X version has a magnitude more tearing than the Series X version even at 30fps. If you've actually played both versions like I have it's clear the Series S version is far superior to all the last Gen consoles.

XSX and PS5 are both Beasts, but the XSS is clearly not the 'true' next gen system MS sold it as.
Half the frame rate, a fraction of the resolution, yet still with frame drops and noticeably worse effects.
Really hope it never becomes successful. Let the struggle console slowly die off and hopefully developing for it will be dropped as a requirement.

- 112GB/s higher mem bandwidth
- 3.1GPixels higher fillrate

The Series S costs less than a One X or a PS4 Pro and outperforms them both on this game. If it goes north of 1600p then I'd say that's actually above expectations for this game. I don't know why people who have no intention of buying one are so bitter about it.
Xbox One X uses a dynamic resolution with the highest native resolution found being 3840x2160 and the lowest native resolution found being approximately 2432x1368. Native resolution pixel counts near 3093x1740 seem to be common on Xbox One X. Xbox One X seems to rarely render at a native resolution of 3840x2160.
It seems a lot XSX games are not optimized and have bugs. There are a lot more crashing on XSX for Watchdogs too.

Summary:
- SeX vs PS5 vs SeS
- About SeX vs PS5, looks like both have the same effects, graphics, etc...
- People being reports about minor differences between those two, but nothing so far. Probably by the time of the day or by the amount of bugs the game have
- SeS on the other hand have some settings set down in comparison with PS5 and SeX
- Loading times between all. PS5 get the edge by seconds. PS5 23:30, SeX 26:48 and SeS 27:17(6:00)
- Resolution side, looks like SeX and PS5 run both at dynamic 4k with the 1440p as minimum (6:28)
- The max resolution from SeX and PS5 are 4k, but none system archieve by the time or not spotted
- Series S runs at dynamic resolution, but the resolution spotted was sighly above 1080p
- And some feel scenes, SeS runs above 1440p
- Both SeX and PS5 runs identical spots of resolution scaler, just one scene that Alex spot a siglhy higher resolution on PS5 over SeX (8:19)
- Looks like the game runs using dynamic resolution plus some sort of reconstruct tech to reach their target
- Perfomance time (9:52)
- In general both SeX and PS5 did a decent job of targeting 60 fps
- Moving the camera or in some cutscenes the game lost frames and than horizontal tearing happens (10:20)

- Series S on the same boss fight scene give a little screen tearing, but recover fast and remains at 30 with no screen tearing after opening the door to the world
- For some reason, using the torch don't generate shadows on that scene (13:19)
- On SeX, using the torch during a non gameplay scene (walking) looks like create a loads of screen tearing an drops frame rate to the 40 territory (13:31)
- On PS5, using the torch on the same exactly scene have a minor screen tearing on the top of the screen, but the frame rate remains between 58~60

This is interesting. I bought my SX as mostly a third party machine and to play future first party MS games. I thought it would have a slight edge like many here. I don't hold any dying loyalty to either company, so if this trend continues I will move my third party purchases over to my PS5. I always buy all the consoles, so if my SX ends up getting less use then I originally thought it's not a big deal. MS has made a lot of good moves over the last few years, so it is a bit of a head scratcher if they end up underperforming the PS5 and why they didn't have exclusives ready for launch.
I'll have to keep an eye on things to see if the trend continues. Right now I am debating if I should move my Cyberpunk preorder from XB over to PS.
I will say I am currently playing AC on SX and haven't had any issues. The game looks great.
I'll take an avatar bet that most third party games will look better on XSX. If there's any advantage in effects, frame rate, textures, etc. It'll most of the time be XSX.
