What a thread.

Joking aside, hopefully we get a new remake that is faithful as RE remakes.

I love the series and I don't care who knows it. I wonder if they will stay campy. Day One under current Capcom ESPECIALLY!

Dead Rising is one of my all-time favorite series, but after 4 I can't help but be worried about anything new. If this is real then hopefully the devs understand what made 1 & 2 so special and don't try to turn it into generic horror/dynasty warriors like 3 & 4 were.

It should have a smaller environment, bring back the 3 day time limit, survivor escorting, psychopaths and co-op.

The only great Dead Rising was the first one.

Honestly, just leave the franchise dead, and don't rise it anymore.

Sure, why not? Hopefully its a bit more exciting than the first games. Bump up the zombie density and the combat mechanics and I could see it working.

Good to know, because if there is one thing the gaming industry needs right now it's more zombie games.....particularly ones from a franchise that has already worn itself out and shit the bed years ago.

Huge if its true. I've been wanting Capcom to reboot Dead Rising in-house in Japan for a while. And Capcom has really been firing on all cylinders lately so now's a great time.

- Make the controls more tight
- Make everything a weapon
- Dial down the cringe psychos
- Improve survivor AI
- Fix save system

And MAYBE get rid of weapon crafting and the count down timer.
I don't mean this to be a dick but this is exactly what killed the franchise in the first place

What you are talking about is not really Dead Rising anymore.

If you take away the timer you take away the essence of the game, and then you get Dead Rising 4, a mediocre open world action game.

No time limit please.

3 barely had a timer and 4 omitted one entirely. Neither game reached the popularity of the first two entries. The timer only matters if you want to go for the best ending. The core loop of DR is completing all the quests and getting the best ending within the time limit. The first two were very much arcade games where the challenge was finding a perfect run in the minimal amount of time and exp.

There's no penalty for ignoring the quests and dicking around for 6 hours. Your exp carries over to a new playthrough making DR like a souls game in the sense that the game becomes easier the more times you fail. Off the record added a sandbox mode with no story/timer and its own quests if that's your thing.

I would prefer DR5 to a reboot, but admittedly DR4 shit the bed pretty damn hard figuring out how to follow up on that wouldn't be easy.

Dead Rising should have stuck with the realism graphics they were trying for with DR1. It made the oddball combat stand out even more. When they started trying to make it look a little zany beyond the organically zany combat, something was lost. I hope they go raw on the filters and allow us to pick up any item on the screen.

If it looks like it has potential, color me interested. I used to love the Dead Rising series SO much. But I'll save my hype until we see what it looks like.

Mission times needs to go, and either go very whimsy and funny or go serious , I hate in between stuff.

1&2 = good

3&4 = bad
No way. DR3 is amazing. It's ability to craft on the go, weapon variety, regular weapon utility, unarmed combat, open sandbox design, customisation, and speed make it hard to go back to DR2. The protagonist given the dialogue of a bitch ass simp is the only downside. I loved the seven deadly sins theme for psychos and the jokes. I also found the Nightmare timer challenging.

I hope this new game is not politically correct and takes place on a cruise ship. Also would not mind being able to throw/dismember enemies at will like Frank in the original. Would be cool to see some ideas from Dead Island cross over.

Zombies are never getting out of play are they. I love Capcom but c'mon Id rather have them reboot Dino Crisis or a new Mega Man.

There was a survivor AI in the original game?

I don't think they'll keep the timer, because it would stress modern players too much. And I admit I was always among them in this case, I never enjoyed playing games that had me race against the clock, I prefer to explore locations at my own pace.

I just bought the first one a couple of days ago. I like the arcade feel of it. It is campy fun yet the characters are not written in a modern way, they take their situation in the world seriously as if their lives matter.
