"Cyberpunk 2077 needs 4-5 months of work to be polished and ready" Reddit undercover CDPR dev vetted by Jason Schreier

Now this is worrying.

I only noticed this due to a Twitter post when searching up for any updates on Cyberpunk, and this account which has been confirmed as a real CDPR dev by Jason Schreier posted something which in light of the recent delay makes very bleak reading.

This reddit post is a few weeks old so their statement still rings true, and given the lack of full confidence from CDPR to hit that December 10th date going off their latest round of teleconference calls: Adam Kiciński said: "We feel — maybe not comfortable, but confident [in the new release date]." Again, not the kind of comment that you want to hear if you're betting on Cyberpunk hitting its new date.

Even Michal Nowakowski, vice president of business development, doesn't seem totally sold on the idea. When asked if the game would definitely launch on the 10th December, he replied: "That's more or less what I'm saying, I guess — yes."

At least there are plenty great games dropping prior to Cyberpunk 2077 so we can try and cast our attention away from the continual disappointing delays this game is receiving.

Think on the bright side, game will be much better with the more polishing time it gets, and other games can shine which may had been overlooked prior to this recent delay.

I couldn't decide which one so heres all of them:

Jokes aside maybe its a good thing for me (and others in same boat) because I plan on playing it on PS5 so hopefully it'll be ready to go around the time of the next-gen patch.

I see the positives of this but their scheduling is something that should be criticised constructively.

No doubt this game is coming in way too hot. They should just delay to well into 2021 and stfu. Keep your head down and let people get to work (without grinding them into dust) instead of building this pressure for a game that will run sub optimally on release. I don't see the benefit of that approach.

Looking like the knuckleheads behind the Halo Infinite debut. How embarrassing.

Definitely agree mate, but I'm trying to be an Ulala Upper instead of a Debbie Downer right now concerning CB2077 because I was being really negative about it based on previews/assumptions.

Its a shitshow in terms of scheduling, they should take away the date and give the date when its firm even if that means next Summer.

Let’s not forget though: this is just one opinion in a company of 1,000 people/opinions.

there are also people who say The Witcher 3 was terrible. Everybody just... has their own opinion and sometimes it’s... different.

I feel like this is because of scope creep. They keep adding stuff like Raytracing at the last minute when it wasn’t a feature that was originally planned. Probably because of the Nvidia partnership.

It’s probably cause of the current-gen consoles, let’s be honest here.

how is this any different to every single game released since the ability to patch games quickly and easily over the internet

100%, the game literally became so ambitious mid development and with RTX becoming more prominent and next gen launching, the current gen consoles were left further and further behind and now CDPR are playing last minute catch up to drag these pieces of junk to the finishing line.

I understand little about the corporate videogames world but as a consumer I much rather have a polished game than a rushed one. I really wish they could be transparent with us and say "look guys, we're sorry but we need more time and it's only coming out sometime next year or so".

I still remember the neogaf insider vetted by Bishoptl who claimed Witcher 3 was "overblown vision of a game that doesn’t exist" and then the game came out and won 265 GOTY awards.

Of course it is possible Cyberpunk will be horribly bugged and broken at launch (assuming it launches in december), but I would not bet on it. There will be some bugs here and there like in any open world RPG, but nothing terrible.

It's almost like everything regarding the horrible scheduling of this game was actually true. Who could have thought that...

Well anybody who is not biased could have seen this. This game got so much hype from the press when they saw it behind closed doors, when they finally unveiled it, I was wondering what the hype was all about. People spoke like it's was something really next gen and transitional in gameplay and graphics....later on when the actual previews came, so much had been cut down from the graphics, which already did not look all that next gen and from the gameplay pitch as well.

Dude, it was impossible to loot a crate if a candle was nearby, fucking Geralt prioritised candles over loot.

Yeah, pretty far from game breaking, but janky as all hell.
The looting and button prompt thing is still in the game, it's still annoying occasionally. Wasn't anything remotely major though.

Still a 2021 GOTY contender. It's too important.

Different standards I guess. I felt the game was much better a few patches in.

Let's just hope they learned and CP is much better at launch.

As much as I'd love to play this on release ima gonna wait till the next gen release and it seems like they should also do the same and just delay into next year and release the whole shebang when it's ready and not run your workforce into the ground trying to get a sub par release out in time for Xmas, man I'd hate to be working at the CDPR at the moment, you just know them guys are getting fucking muntered by management

It was pretty fucked up though, at least on consoles, hell the character movement was trash for about a month until they released a patch. Crashes galore, shit not working right, bugcity. The game was a fucking mess.

What was up with the character movement? I thought it was just low framerates on console, but I played on PC so only heard about it.

Sounds like the Witcher 3 to be honest.
Game wasn't unplayable or anything at launch but it still had plenty of issues, specially on consoles, and it took months of updates and patches for it to be "done and polished".

Still disappointing as you'd expect them to learn from the experience

Bah, its common practice, selling beta games to the public so they can test their unfinished product. I got fooled last time with ACNH and a lot digged that the free patch were just content missing from the game. Never again.
