So i cheated the whole time in Dark Souls 1 and 2 because i used shields?
Sounds like someone never played either DS with no shield.
Hint: the game doesn't suddenly become DMC.
You actually have to learn to time your actions better, be they parries or dodge-rolls, and learn enemy attacks to stay alive. My no shield playthroughs generally took more effort to stay alive, but the fighting also felt more visceral/high stakes.

The battle system will just be a bunch of "quick rolls" out of the way now. I liked the slow paced battle system that shields made. Fighting is more calculated that way, plus shields are pretty
Action games rid themselves of shields to speed up the gameplay, I don't want that, I want my proper "Souls" battle system..... I don't want to be "quick rolling", and "side stepping" all the time
If there is one thing in the "Souls" series that didn't need to be fucked with, it was/is the battle system. It WAS perfect the way it was.
P.S.
Hopefully I am overreacting and shields are still in the game.
Well thankfully this isn't a Souls game and the combat is designed around that fact instead of just being Souls combat without shields. The battle system will just be a bunch of "quick rolls" out of the way now. Souls combat is clunky?
Like, i get the excitement and appeal of the taboo of the occasional blasphemy but woah there
I thought it was the exact opposite of that

Targeting 1080p 30fps. Game is still early so currently has framerate issues, devs have acknowledged this and said will be ironed out.

No, but shields are not the defining aspect of the combat in Souls games seeing as how easily you can not use them and still be effective. So i cheated the whole time in Dark Souls 1 and 2 because i used shields?
Pretty sure no one said that. We said you were wrong about implying that having no shield makes the gameplay something other than a Souls game - removes the strategy and makes it an action game. The fact that you think that means you never tried it.I know eh, all the sudden if you didn't play through the game without any armor and shield you're not "hardcore" enough or an actual fan.
I didn't realize I platinumed all the "Souls" games the wrong way...
ENB posted a little bit about it on twitter.

He's definitely hyped, as am I.
Probably has more pressing issues going on with his family at the moment to make a video but you know he's bound to make one when he gets the time.

Shields is one more option given to players. They shouldn't be looked at as cheating, because they are not.
It's not clunky. It's deliberate.
You can perceive it as clunky if you're diving in with expectations of a Devil May Cry game or a dumb hack and slash. That shit don't work in Souls games.

Awesome Post. I'm all caught up, now.
Also this.If Miyazaki wants to go "no shields, period" for this new game, I say bring it the fuck on.

11 things you need to know about Bloodborne.
oh man, i loved watching his play throughs.. I always watched how he played a portion of the game once I got done through it, just to make sure I didn't miss anything. I learned a lot from him, and it made the game a lot of fun ^^
Agreed. Seems like the kinda guy you would want to have a beer with.
Hope he involved with this title in some way.
Everywhere I go and read about this game, I can't help but get annoyed by all those people wanting the game to be ''accessible'' and not too hard.. Fromsoftware is the only company that ''gets'' the glutton for punishment mentality (or the thirst for great challenge) and I would like it to stay that way. For me, it's like the old coin-ups where difficulty was a business tool, only now the coins are fragments of my sanity (or soul).

Making the game more accessible can be done without lowering the overall difficulty or reducing the penalties for failure, they just need to ensure that the difficulty curve is smooth, make levels that do a good job of teaching players how things work, and weed out parts of the game that are flaky or overly random.
Hopefully shields aren't in the game.
This isn't a Souls game. Wait for DS3 if you want slower combat, this is a new game.
This game know no overhyping.Oh dear, Yoshichan overhyping himself again. ._.
This game know no overhyping.
Likely already posted, but I'm sure no one will mind seeing this again.

It's a Miyazaki game, you guys really think he'd fuck such a basic thing up without knowing what he's doing? lol
