Yuuuup. It's always sad to have games that thrive on community act like they're listening but make such tone deaf calls. It's absurd. No one wanted "heroes" in the Battlefield series, or anything similar. It's so irritating. Especially for fans that have loved the series since its early days.

I really suspect this is the reason why DICE insisted on having specialists despite fans not wanting them at all. Because if you just have a generic create a class soldier, you can't virtue signal about how woke you are with your lgbt specialists.

Who knew in a shooter, people cared about identifying gender. Maybe in ab adventure game where there's character development and plot it might be details to round out a situation/story. But when the soldier in the game looks like a man or woman, anyone in their minds can pretend that person is whatever gender and sexuality they want.

I guess the way in media is to jam it down your throats.

You have a multiplayer character, if you want to sit there and make up imaginations in your head about how you are Emma, the non binary soldier kicking ass on a battlefield then do it. Why do you need a CEO somewhere saying yeah let's tell them that they are to get them to buy this game. Hilarious.

None of what you described is what happened. SUNDANCE has a description, a - most likely non-binary - Twitter users noticed deliberate pronoun usage and asked for clarification on Twitter which they received from a community manager. That's it. There was no flag thrown over EA HQ or some big announcement. Literally just a single twitter exchange.

It's Black characters in general. The guys are often beefy dudes with tough guy persona. The worst is probably Cole in Gears. They guy's even a star football player back in the day. The people half the time have some kind of big fro hair too. Always, they have some kind of trendy attitude personality too.

Rarely just a generic lead character. Always some kind of stereotypical look or attitude. I guess that's dev's best way they express being a Black person.

I think Miles was great in the first Spiderman game but when they made a game about him they turned his character into too much of a black Puerto-Rican stereotype.

This was obviously done to attract more young black people/main stream gamers to play the game. Just like how Peter's face was changed to attract more Marvel movie watchers/non-gamers.

It doesn't affect gameplay, but it's political kind of info that can only cause issues. Unless there's some deep down story plot involving Binary and Non-Binary characters, gender classification isnt something needed
