It could be a small subplot, just like the original TLOU had lots of different sub plots amd secondary characters.

I loved the first one but never bothered with the DLC, because I couldn't care less about who imaginary video game characters like to fuck. For me, The Last of Us was the story of Joel and his eventual redemption through Ellie, after losing his daughter. I won't be playing the sequel as I no longer own consoles, but I hope this isn't true. Wouldn't be at all surprised if it is, though.

Bearing in mind this is from ND based in California. The question is whether the studio have people who could produce a story (or draw from experience) from having lived in that part of the world.

Is it not easier to tell a good story from pulling from what you know.

Seems very possible. We already know Ellie’s quest for revenge is a large part of the plot from the trailers, and it’s certainly not going to be because of some simple random death.

At the end of the day this game will be a bunch of (probably) straight, older guys telling the story of a young gay woman. They got away with that in part 1 because Ellie's sexuality wasn't the focus of the story, it was just character stuff on the side. If they try to build their entire narrative around it this time... Well, I can easily see that going wrong. It wouldn't be the first time something similar has happened.

It’s set several years later. Maybe it’s like The Walking Dead where after a while the zombies weren’t much of a threat as the survivors knew how to handle them unless they get overwhelmed by a herd and the real threat is evil people and their followers like The Governor, Negan etc.

Maybe they’re in a big safe zone where the zombies aren’t much of a threat. Trailers seem to imply that to some degree by having events like the dance where they kiss etc.

No idea if the rumor is true, but I do feel that it’s going to be the case where life has started to move on and the zombies aren’t a major threat in safe zones anymore and to have a plot more focused on evil people than the first game was.

Agreed. End of the day, this is a huge budget game with a very long development cycle. They aren’t going to go too any huge extremes.

Yeah, I’m sure it will have some “woke” shit that riles up the people that complain about SJWs all the time, and having a lesbian lead will of course rile up the true homophopes (many of whom probably beat their dicks raw to lesbian porn and then go bitch about ”dykes” or whatever on forums).

But it will also not be “woke” enough for the actual SJWs, probably do somethings that are “problematic” and earn it a lot of “yikes” from the reeeeetards and their ilk elsewhere.

Well it's 4Chan so it's probably fake. Tho, Druckmann himself seems very..how can I put this..."3rd wave feminist-friendly" for at least the past couple of years. And that is potentially worrisome. Also with them being in California that's just another thing to create worry.

I guess it comes down to how much it comes off as genuine storytelling and can convey its message without coming off as hateful of people who don't see eye-to-eye with it (within reason). Like, believe it or not I don't mind a feminist story when it's actually FUN. Tank Girl movie, I know it's B-movie schlock but damnit that is a fun ass movie. Birds of Prey? Complete trash. Only genuinely good parts there were Black Mask, Huntress and Black Canary, and even they sucked in some ways.

Basic point being, both had some strong feminist stuff in there but one (Tank Girl) does it very right and the other (Birds of Prey) does it terribly. And if they want to do some stuff that's pro-gay, make it fun like Doom Generation or Mysterious Skin. That way it's not just fun but also isn't spiteful for people who might not see eye-to-eye on everything about that stuff or happen to not be gay.
