Marketing blitz and hype on release.
So you are assuming people don't actually like playing Sony's 1st party games?
Marketing blitz and hype on release.
I'm sure a lot will but I wonder how many will eventually go back to PS. I tried to go to PC gaming and I hated it. I'm positive some will have a similar experience it's not as easy as people like to make it out to be.Well, if they are like Jez Corden it's gonna be hard
They will jump to PC gaming before owning a Playstation
I'm sure Jimbo and his disciple Herman Hulst would choose the wrong one too.
Oh sure, it would kill the PS consoles faster if that's their goal. It's because they release them a year later, if they released on both pc and ps5 day 1 numbers would be completely different, they should try this before they drop it
As Jason is saying - this isn't a full pull back, and the priorities for Sony and Microsoft are very different. Sony pulling back on single-player titles is both a reflection of how the titles have sold recently on Steam, and how it came at the cost of the value perception of their console business. Live-service and multiplayer focused titles are not going to be affected by this pullback, as the PC market is far too strong for these specific kinds of games, and as has been seen with the prolonged success of things like Helldivers 2, its just not solid business sense for these types of games.I thought pulling back from Steam had no benefit?
Pcs have been a thing since forever fam ... the "money on the table" was always there for the grabbing... and they choose to keep their games exclusive... nintendo still does and its never going to change... "but but but games cost more now!" It dosent matter, free money is free money, if it never made sense then why now ? Why suddenly is such an no brainer?Guys once again, pc gamers arent buying a console just for spooderman or dad of war
So no, Sony isnt 'eroding' any business by putting these year old titles on pc
In the end it will not hurt them at all, casuals dont play on pc they want a console, and they want the most popular console, so a Playstation. They dont even know or care these games are coming to pc as well.
Its crazy how some of yall dont seem to understand this
True, if Sony paid the 9 million dollar break up fee which they may have
Agreed. If they do it they need to go all the way with single player games.
If they decide they will release saros on pc but something else not on pc. Why even bother?
So they would basically be part of Sony's XDEV team? Afaik, XDEV are basically "dev support" for internal and external studios.Nixxes are port gurus in general. They will probably help handle the portable ports.
It makes sense to protect their ecosystem, but I'm not as confident there are many system sellers coming anytime soon as I wish I was.
Sony's entire mulitplatform strategy has been incredibly inconsistent in terms of what games did or did not come to PC....
Not outside of PlayStation at least. Some staples like Uncharted did comically weak numbers. TLOU also flopped, but this might be due to the state of the port more than anything else. The cinematic-driven single-player loving crowd is mostly on PlayStation. Those games don't do that well on PC.So you are assuming people don't actually like playing Sony's 1st party games?
That's why ps5s are not selling they're devalued....It doesn't matter what you think. Having no exclusives devalues your console. End of story.
Signed license agreements can and have changed. Indiana Jones, same company that owns Wolverine, is a recent example of this.Yes, a game's timeline is exactly the same as a signed license agreement
It's because they release them a year later, if they released on both pc and ps5 day 1 numbers would be completely different, they should try this before they drop it
Someone on the purple forum did a revenue split based on the latest data sony provided about Playstation...and the PC / Xbox / Switch etc... revenue is that tiny orange thing. It's virtually meaningless. This isn't that surprising tbh

Their are backing away from traditional single player games in general...
Well, right now we have Schreier, SneakerOS and NateTheHate stating the same. Plus others speculation.Yeah I don't see it happening. They will continue to release games on PC and that is including single player games. Time will vary between how long each game gets ported depending on how popular it's in terms of sales.
I am very positive we will get GoY this year as well. Wolvarine next year towards the end. Why would they talk about pc release now when it's not even out for months on yet on the PlayStation ?
Dude just smocking crack and having a wishful thinking
The celebrations itt are almost iconera level lmao. We'll see I guess, but businesses usually like easy money
From the insomniac leak, we know that there's actually significant prep done by the leading studiofor PC ports during development of these games. Whole playable builds, even.Huh? They have a port studio that ports games after they are released on PS5. While there needs to be some collaboration there is no way that this is hurting their output, especially when all devs are taking longer and longer to release games.
The real easy money is the 30% they get from every third party game. If you push people to Steam you put that easy money in danger. The celebrations itt are almost iconera level lmao. We'll see I guess, but businesses usually like easy money
All Sony devs are on the XDEV network. They all share tech, etc., across it. Nixxes had been a support team for every first party game since the purchase. So they would basically be part of Sony's XDEV team? Afaik, XDEV are basically "dev support" for internal and external studios.
You can't say they don't do good on pc without even trying your best to make it work,You wish....
They are not jeopardizing their best business for PC port-beggers....
LOL
The PC fanboys' feelings? I agree, they don't matter.
This couldn't be further from the truth, particularly now. They are backing away from traditional single player games in general...

God of War trilogy.I mean, number of SP games they release is well below PS4. Right now they have a lot of GaaS games announced.
SP games: Wolverine, Soros, Intergalactic, what else?
Not gonna lie, that Sentinel scene is kind of hype and gives me Greek GoW vibes.
So they would basically be part of Sony's XDEV team? Afaik, XDEV are basically "dev support" for internal and external studios.
XDEV name was created to shorthen eXternal DEVelopment team. They are producers who manage, overview, produce and publish the work of games with external lead development teams. The whole project, the work of these teams and also all the internal and external support team. All Sony devs are on the XDEV network. They all share tech, etc., across it. Nixxes had been a support team for every first party game since the purchase.
Yes, AAA games take longer to be made this generation compared to the previous one. And longer than two generations ago. And even longer than 3 generations ago, etc.I mean, number of SP games they release is well below PS4.
Announced or publicly mentioned they have Star Wars KOTOR remake, Physint, next mainline GoW set in a new mythology, Horizon 3, a SP ND game that started early 2023 that isn't TLOU3, GoW Trilogy remake. Plus also games that have both SP+MP like Marvel Tokon or MLB.Right now they have a lot of GaaS games announced.
SP games: Wolverine, Soros, Intergalactic, what else?
Lies from Bloomberg, as usual. Sony is shifting their PC strategy absolutely: but to increase their output on PC.
2025 PC releases
I estimate (most already confirmed) 2026 PC release
- Marvel's Spider-Man 2
- TLOU2 Remastered
- Stellar Blade
- Midnight Murder Club
- Lost Soul Aside
I estimate 2027 PC release
- Death Stranding 2 (PC version confirmed)
- Marathon (day one PC version confirmed)
- Marvel Tokon (day one PC version confirmed)

We're talking about games in the future. I understand if folks are disappointed with the output on this front, but there are loads of changes happening now that we'll see increasingly over the next 3-4 years that are more in line with what folks preferred from them.I mean, number of SP games they release is well below PS4. That isn't to say live-service titles are done and dusted btw.
You mentioned several Xbox studios games.. which shows how stupid was this strategy for them. Thats at least 4 games ? ... imagine having those games exclusive to Magnus at launch next year.Meh..
Right now Most games i am looking forward and hyped to play on PC are not from sony
Squadron 42
Gears e-day
Halo remake
Horizon 6
Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra
Fable
OD
SoD 3
Blade
Tomb raider

For Sony, who is now putting a larger emphasize on delivering SP titles of a variety of budget sizes (we'll see the increased fruits of these efforts over the next 3 years), these have become the bread & butter of their console's value perception. Sony very much needs to maintain their console's ability to sell for their current business direction to remain viable. This is in stark contrast to MS, whose HW position has historically never made them money, and who is carried almost entirely by software revenue and subscriptions at this point.
finally some good news.. Ill remain skeptical but at least is something to hope for. Thanks for the info. We're talking about games in the future. Did you expect them to change strategy and drop 10 SP games in 2 years? If they did make this change it will be a while before you start to see it.I mean, number of SP games they release is well below PS4. Right now they have a lot of GaaS games announced.
SP games: Wolverine, Soros, Intergalactic, what else?
They could use Nixxies to do something you know... for their systems????
Yes but how much overlap is there?
Well, if they are like Jez Corden it's gonna be hard
They will jump to PC gaming before owning a Playstation

Maybe it's true. A lot of people talking about the same thing...
If this is true, I wonder if the Steam Deck and Sony's intent to release a portable console had anything to do with that decision. I know the Steam Deck is doing paltry numbers compared to what a PS6P would do, but combined with the Steam Machine and Xbox pivoting to PC, the PC platform is turning into a very direct competitor to the PlayStation. Before that, they were eating off different plates for the most part.
If true, what's the point of Nixxes? You're telling me that Sony bought an optimisation and porting studio for a few games??
I don't believe they will stop PC releases but I think Sony will put a long ass gap between them coming to PC.
I mean sure it sucks as I have bought a few Sony games on PC but eh, it's not the end of the world, I have enough non Sony games to enjoy. Whatever, don't care, not going to buy a console for a few games lol.
So you are confirming Wolverine will not come to PC?Signed license agreements can and have changed. Indiana Jones, same company that owns Wolverine, is a recent example of this.
