Phil Spencer: announcement this week

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
Wake up Philly boy, it's your last day
Oh he'll have been prancing round all night in his Xbox pyjamas taking cold Mtn Dew's from his Xbox fridge whilst trying to log into his O365 as Microsoft will have locked his account to get at his power point presentation for today.

My coffee was good, but I'd rather see a cup of fanboy tears now that it's next week and we're closing in on more meltdowns.
Brother I have no more tears left. I've been trying to sell my Xtra large Phil Spencer body pillow (I'm 6'3) but people won't buy it because it's "too used". Cowards.

My guess.

Phil talks about there new handheld and streaming/cloud stick. And How Surface is taking over the console‘s in the future.

Mentions Hifi and SOT is coming to Switch and maybe PS.
Thats it, the rest of the rumours will be squashed.

The fact that all we got is a vague "next week", which could be anywhere within the next 7 days, is not reassuring.

I hope you're panicking real good Philou.

what time is it now at phil's home?

Unless they deny those game coming to other platforms those rumors won't be eliminated. They need to be very clear with their messaging here.

That will not be enough to squash the rumors, at all.

If they announce SOT and Hi-Fi Rush, that means they have opened the way for their SP and MP games to be multiplatform. Unless they explicitly mention that "these are the only 2 games that will be released on other platforms, and no other game will be ported now or in the future" the announcement will essentially confirm all the rumors.

Announcing new hardware with a supposed 2026 launch would be such a desperate move and not smart, if they have bad news for the fans that could cannibalize current hardware sales then why add another layer of sales suppression by announcing new hardware over 2 years out? That strategy doesn't make sense to me unless they've completely given up on the current cycle.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

You know there's no way anyone will say a thing like that, even if any game never ends up being ported, right?

Already preparing your next narrative I see.

To be fair, on the Sony shills. it's an incredibly intelligent "war" opportunity for them. They will now move from "Xbox is leaving the industry and hardware" to "All xbox games will come to playstation one day, don't buy an Xbox for any of these games as they will come....JUST BE PATIENT and HOLD THE LINE"

As long as they stop sales of Xbox by spreading this message, it could very well cause the desired outcome they are looking for.

Now that they bought ABK a lot of their first party games are multiplatform, nothing changes if they make SOT or Hifi Rush multiplatform except givng those games a wider chance to succeed, but then there are other key bigger games that need to stay exclusive if they want to keep competing in the console market.

In case you didn't realize, Xbox needs Sony way more than Sony needs Xbox.
So don't worry, Sony will NOT have any marketing campaign centered around Xbox games coming to PlayStation.

Given the potential, assuming these rumours come true, for this to have a large negative impact on DirectX's relevance and loosen Microsoft's grip on PC via a weakened Windows USP, and that all being setup by Bill Gates with the original Xbox.

When you factor-in that Satya still answers to original shareholders like Bill, that have voting rights, and Bill is still in the top 2 or 3 largest individual shareholders, I wonder if this "business update" needs his sign-off.

It would be very revealing if Gates basically tells Satya that Xbox will continue as is, except for the lunatic influencer strategy, limping on without PlayStation or Nintendo markets to help the games make ROI, set their game business as a Titanic in icy waters hoping that a widespread shift to PC or cloud, from console, happens before they take on enough water to sink the entire AA/AAA game division ship for them.

Where’s this rumour coming from that they’re leaving the industry?

Hardware is said to be outsourced, if that’s what you mean by “leaving hardware”.

Dont be surprised if after all this wait for clarity. We're still left with statements from Phil, that are not fully committal and open to interpretation. He'll probably provide some reassurance to a hardware commitment, whilst exploring other platforms to make games available to everyone. Its never clear cut honesty with them. Why would it be so now.

No matter waht Phil will say today. Xbox is fucking dead and it's 95% his fault.

"We hear you?" Yes, but listening is something completely different.
They let the rumours get out of control. People selling Xbox like crazy (Here in Netherlands the second hand market suddenly went through the roof. approx 400 units up for sale last week vs 700+ this week. Almost a 100% surge).
No matter what will be said. This shit is beyond damage control.

They should've at least adressed the rumours to comfort the dying fanbase. But nooooooo they chose the silent route.

I DO hope this bites them so hard, they'll have to reconsider their whole damn strategy.

Axe Phil and everyone, hire some new blood with a new face for Xbox who's track record isn't blemished by years of outright lies and empty promises.

Its time for an overhaul.

Genuine question. But do PlayStation shills even bother these days? When I read other media bits the PlayStation community generally always seem quite chilled out.

Ah, yes, the Sony shills

Ever crossed your mind that, you know, maybe people just wanna play the games and are not concerned about billion dollar companies?

So you don't think someone with Bill's holding and voting rights gets a say in Microsoft business, on a daily basis? I'm guessing you haven't seen the Netflix 3 part documentary/interview with him, no? because in that it is clear they have to read him in on a daily basis, or certainly did just a few years ago when the documentary was made .

Phil Spencer, the head of Xbox, recently addressed the gaming community in an online conference. His demeanor was somber as he shared a business update about the future of Xbox. Amidst swirling rumors and controversy, Spencer acknowledged the concerns and hinted at significant changes for Xbox1234.

In the virtual conference room, the lighting was muted, casting shadows on Spencer’s face. His voice trembled slightly as he began:

“Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed gamers, I stand before you today with a heavy heart. The path ahead is uncertain, and the decisions we make will shape the destiny of Xbox.”

The screen behind him displayed a graph, showing the trajectory of Xbox’s journey. The upward curve represented success, but there was a subtle dip—a momentary stumble that had caught everyone’s attention.

“Our commitment to gaming remains unwavering,” Spencer continued, his gaze fixed on the camera. “Yet, we find ourselves at a crossroads. The winds of change blow fiercely, and we must adapt.”

He paused, and the silence hung in the digital air. The chat box flooded with questions, emojis, and anxious messages. Spencer’s eyes flickered, betraying the weight of responsibility.

“Exclusivity,” he said, enunciating each syllable. “A word that has defined us. But perhaps it’s time to redefine our boundaries. To explore new horizons.”

The PowerPoint slide changed, revealing a split screen. On one side, Xbox logos; on the other, PlayStation symbols. The audience gasped. Was this a merger? A collaboration?

“We’ve heard you,” Spencer continued. “The whispers, the debates, the sleepless nights. Our exclusives—the lifeblood of Xbox—may soon flow beyond our ecosystem.”

He clicked to the next slide, and a single tear slid down his cheek. The words were stark: “Cross-platform.”

“I won’t lie,”
Spencer confessed. “This decision weighs heavily on my soul. Leaving behind the console wars, embracing unity—it’s bittersweet. But we owe it to you, the players, to evolve.”

The Q&A session began. Chat messages scrolled faster than Spencer could read. Some praised his transparency; others accused him of betrayal. He answered with grace, acknowledging fears and hopes alike.

“Remember,” he said, his voice cracking. “We’re not abandoning Xbox. We’re expanding its reach. And yes, it hurts. Change always does.”

As the conference concluded, Spencer’s virtual avatar slumped in his chair. The screen faded to black, leaving the audience with a mix of emotions. Sadness, uncertainty, but also a glimmer of anticipation.

“Thank you,” Spencer whispered, his pixelated hand reaching for the exit button. “For believing in us. For challenging us. Together, we’ll redefine the gaming landscape.”

And with that, the conference ended. Phil Spencer, the man who had steered Xbox through storms, logged off. His legacy hung in the digital ether, awaiting the dawn of a new era.

Stay tuned. 🎮

I expect they will at the very least confirm they are making more hardware, they will confirm some titles are coming to other consoles and they will confirm they will continue to have some exclusives (timed at least).

I also expect their messaging will be vague enough that every future game from MS is basically going to be speculated on whether it will come to PS5/Switch 2 at some point.

I hope they are explicit and concrete with their messaging but let's be honest. That's probably unlikely. They are never coming out and saying "we will never have exclusive titles again" nor will they come out and say "We're not porting any titles after Sea of Thieves and Hifi Rush".

Please be today.
