I doubt it. This far in? Doubt it.While this is the logical conclusion. Don’t put it past Microsoft to completely fuck up and reverse course whether it makes financial sense to do so.
Did they threaten Timdog or Gaz? Tim is generally a nice guy even if he's a little infatuated with MS and often doesn't see reality. Gaz though is as abrasive as they come and has a real punchable personality. Watch this from 2yrs ago if you want an ironic laugh:
I was hoping for Gamepass to fail, because I knew it wasn’t sustainable and that it would a long term net negative. There was no way they could deliver $100M+ games Day 1 without gaining a massive influx of subscribers.
Holy shit, what an idiot.I think it was Gaz threatening to kill TimDog.

Welcome aboard, where this train goes nobody knows
Thats not gonna happen they told that they would bringing CoD 10 years to PS. When they try to backtrack that they are in deep troubleWouldn’t be hillarious if they double down and say COD will no longer be available on PS platforms?
I wonder if COD 2023's horrid ratings had anything to do with Microsoft's change in plans? It is funny how things do change in retrospect, huh?
The deal was struck in 2022, on the height of COVID growth craze. Xbox was lax, PS5 was understocked and snatching CoD from Sony seemed like a good endgame. Since then both the deal and the market changed so much that it was just too late to cancel the
takeover.
Fast-forward to 2024 and: COVID growth was a fad and we're in the phase of mass layoffs, CoD-snubbing stratagem failed due to CMA with binding agreements, cloud growth basically dead due to sub-licesing to Ubisoft for 15 years, plus GamePass imploded due to meager growth even with Starfield day-one, so no CoD Day 1 there either.
And here we are, ABK is a huge $75b stone that is hanging on the neck of a hardware business that was drowning without the outside help.
I wonder if COD 2023's horrid ratings had anything to do with Microsoft's change in plans?
wonder what else is on your hard drive?

Has anyone checked on Frosk since this bold prediction and how "she" could be handling the potential news to come?
Welcome aboard, where this train goes nobody knows
IMO
Not happening obviously:
1)Microsoft announcing formally they're going third party
2)Microsoft leaving hardware business
Happening:
1)New strategy focused on becoming the leading worldwide publisher, they need to bring their games on as many platforms as possible and that will include Playstation/Nintendo.
2)Not everything will be guaranteed to release everywhere and/or at the same time but in general you can expect most of their games to become fully multiplatform.
I don't get it: the "Happening" part contradicts the "Not happening part"
I mean the end result is gonna be the same...
I think they will announce "plans" for new hardware next week in order to keep people invested while they remain in a transitional state.
Think similar to the project scorpio/scarlett reveals, nothing concrete or set in stone but just enough to keep people hanging on.
Phil loves engagement and this is engagement. Then you update people once you have their attention.2. If it was false, wouldn’t Phil jump on Twitter/X and nip it in the bud, while still having his big business update next week?
I think they may do it just to ensure people buying into their ecosystem is still safeBut this would MURDER all Xbox Series sales for the next 2 years....
One step closer to a no-platform world.
One Ticket Sir
The casual demographics only hears "xbox is dead, Xbox games are coming to Playstation".I think they may do it just to ensure people buying into their ecosystem is still safe
The vast majority of gamers don't care whats coming 2 years down the road, thats just us who frequent forums
The true casual is not hearing any of this shit imoThe casual demographics only hears "xbox is dead, Xbox games are coming to Playstation".
Then by the time next-gen starts, it's going to be an impossible task to recover.
Especially if Sony starts talking PS6 by that time.
There's Switch 2 as well.

They will. Social media spreads the word. The true casual is not hearing any of this shit imo
But I'm not sure what some people don't get. Of course it'll start off as legacy titles and maybe Starfield. But can't you see the pattern on where it's going? How can Daniel Ahmad be so short-sighted?
But the word will get around that the following is true.....
- New console is coming in 2 years
- Some Xbox exclusives are coming to PS5
- Not all Xbox 1st party games will launch on GP day one
- COD isn't coming to GP day one
- Price (small) increase for GP in 2024 or early 2025. Maybe $20 a month.
If this happens and you don't have an Xbox today, why buy one after this? Most would at least wait until 2026 and keep playing on what they already have.

People forget the effect social media outrage had on the Xbox One reveal and the damage it did. They will. Social media spreads the word.
That, friends circle / word of mouth, and no physical presence in local retail stores will be more than enough to eradicate the brand's presence in my opinion. They will. Social media spreads the word.
The handheld will be more of the current Series S along side a new Zen 5 next gen traditional consoleHeisenbergFX4 - thought of something based on our last conversation here. If Xbox announces (now or later) a new handheld Steam-deck type console, primarily for streaming Game Pass in 2025 or 2026, will that really be considered a "next-gen Xbox console?"
Like, a Rog Ally or Steam Deck wouldn't be considered a next-gen handheld console. If it is streaming only for Game Pass, it would be similar to PlayStation Portal (when Cloud streaming is activated on that), which also wouldn't be considered a next-gen console.
What are your thoughts / opinion on this?
