if Microsoft believe this strategy would eventually 'forced' Sony to release their game on Xbox and Nintendo hardware, they gonna be suprise

We have a few topics talking about similar things. NeoGaf really needs a threadmark feature and an update the op with new info feature.

Anyways, this is a bit worrying as an only Xbox guy. Well I also have PC, but still. 😞 🐼

I didn't know that Starfield had a hidden quest line where it had to traverse platforms to find somebody, somewhere who might find the game likable.

I kid, I kid!! I do look forward to trying it, if nothing else out of curiosity that it really is as mundane as folks make it out to be. I would think it'll be one of those things where the first big DLC makes it better as a whole?

Might be the nail in the coffin… Atleast for the console brand.

All the desperate moves MS made this gen to offset a decade of declining brand reception just didn’t pay off as fast as they’d hoped.

Didn’t think mere months after the ABK acquisition we’d be here, though.

Will it sell though? I mean it’s like a meme to hate this game at this point even though there were much worse games last year.

They tired for two console gens, no place else for them to go but third party.

The Xbox audience is too small and they trained their audience to not want to pay full price for games.

Hell, the console market was never very kind to the idea of three successful platforms, relative to each other. I've said before, the 7th generation stood in contrast to pretty much all others and gave people the wrong impression of what was historically accurate of the market. It was usually one very dominant console or two consoles being competitive with each other while any others cratered. The 7th gen was a perfect storm that will probably never happen again.

I'm wondering if MS will part ways with, Phil Spencer. Would make sense to have someone else lead MS gaming forward without the baggage.
Who knows anymore. Phil has done more harm than anyone else to the brand. The hardware has become irrelevant and he has made zero incentives for people to buy their games due to his obsession with gamepass and day one releases on it. Now they look like complete assholes mulling over which exclusives to put out on competitors hardware………..all because of the utter stupidity of Phil and Co. MS wont properly sack him as they should have long ago already. He will propably weasel his way out and be replaced by a woman to appease the virtue signalers and show that MS is about so much more than just the Xbox brand itself. Complete imbeciles running Xbox as they shelled out billions for all those studios and couldn’t even manage them and put out quality exclusives to save the Xbox console and build their base. All that money and opportunity and ZERO brains. THAT is Phil and the rest of the Xbox division.

It could've been the strategy from the start.

It's called GamePass, and not XboxPass, or XPass, etc. They branded it differently than Xbox, and they now prob view it as something else, their way forward.

My issue is that they are not good at gaming dev itself.

No, it has always been called Xbox Game Pass. Even the PC version was called Xbox Game Pass for PC before they renamed it to PC Game Pass.

Upon thinking this through further, this is probably their way of being allowed to buy up more giant publishers.

“We will put games on every system, so let us buy TAKE 2, EA, Ubi,”

If MS going full 3rd party is legit,
then what does this mean for the current 3rd party?

Like, would Rockstar bother putting out GT6 on xbox now? Even though there is still an xbox console out there. Would they bother supporting it?

(Assuming the 3rd party deal hasn't been done yet)

That’ll just leave them with a lot of risk, and no third party games cut.
