It’s not a high bar, but it cleared the ps showcase easily, which was a steaming pile of shit.
Really good stuff, Starfield and inxiles game looked fantastic.
Avowed didn’t look good.

It was ok. Nothing that really surprised me. Guess I will wait till the reviews for starfield drop to decide if I will get an Xbox
It's not like you have to rush out and get it. There are so many games coming out in late summer and fall on top of the stacked spring.

Very good for me, fantastic would have been one more dated game.

Indies hot and all the first party games look interesting.

Instantly resorts to name calling in a thread about a marketing video and the manufacturer of his favourite plastic box lol.
I mean what can I say?

Microsoft is releasing all their first-party on PC since 2017 and you STILL bought Xbox console and now you are "complaining" that you can play all their games on PC anyway?
Hello! Were you in cryosleep?

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I might need to revise my rating from very good to fantastic.

This Starfield direct part is also incredible.

Then maybe Aaron Greenberg shouldn’t have been on Twitter hyping otherwise.
What were his exact words? A lot of these trailers aside from the ones at the beginning showed snippets of gameplay, that's why it's higher rated for me than the last two showcases we've seen. Also a lot of these games were new titles or new entries and most of them looked fun to play.

As a lifelong Playstation gamer this show was really great. Sony's previous show was legit one of the worst they've done in a decade.

Xbox had a HUGE focus on single player experiences, a lot of big names everyone wanted to see, whereas Sony is focussing on GaaS dogshit and keeping the big names hidden - a catastrophic error in judgement.

Still, almost all titles are 2024 or beyond, there was a huge lack of actual legit gameplay, there were too many faux-CGI akak in-engine traiilers. Xbox is going all in with Starfield for 2023.

Big meh from me tbh. Fable looked cool but again, didnt show enough.
Nothing shown proves their "Series X is the most powerful console IN THE WORLD" mantra.
No Gears 6, bunch of meh indie shit. Starfield looks decent but performance looks dodgy. The hellblade trailer was boring af.

All 3 "showcases" were a big bag of meh really.

It was okay and better than Sony’s, but PS has shown most of its hand the past year now with Helldivers, Silent Hill, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, Spider-Man 2, etc. so this is pretty much it, I guess.

Yakuza, The Phantoms of Liberty Exp. and Path of the Goddess will be on PS so those are good to look forward to for me.

Avowed.. was disappointing, I’m not sure what to take from it as I’m so numb from these fantasy world settings after playing The Witcher 3, Elden Ring, God of War, A Plague Tale, The Outer Worlds, etc.

Starfield, however, liked looked very good. And like Spider-Man 2 for PS, was the show’s biggest highlight. I could really imagine putting in lots of time in this game after TOTK & Armoured Core 6 wear off, while waiting for Spider-Man 2 & Alan Wake.

Very little gameplay was shown from most 1st party studios... Almost all of them including HB2 & Fable (no release timeframe either). It was missing State of Decay 3, Gears 6, the Indiana Jones game, maybe some Tomb Raider footage, something else next-gen to make it a next level show. Overall, it was very good though.

Is this the new thing we've decided to hate on? Convenient images of upcoming games?
Don’t think we’ve decided on anything but I’m not sure who we is (y)

Am I not allowed to hate Xbox infographics when they’ve been slapping titles like Fable/PD/Everwild/Hellblade/Avowed on them for the past 4 years?

Didn’t realise I had to apply for your permission when I don’t like something.

I think that is difficult to have better shows than this honestly. Previous years always were pretty good, with many third party games, but this year was quite excellent with Starfield on top (which looks fantastic).

It was good slightly under very good if Avowed looked better it would've been fantastic it's definitely the best summer showcase if that means anything

You can react all you want, and I can cringe all I want.

It was okay. The Hellblade 2 showing was pointless, Fable looked cool, but there was no indication as to when it will be released (unless I missed it), Avowed looked okay I guess, Forza looked alright, the in-exile game looked alright - had Bioshock Infinite vibes.

Starfield still the game of the show, by a long shot.

If you noticed Banjo64 Banjo64 , I didn't list that Sea of Thieves expansion. I think Rare's efforts are being wasted on 'Pirate Destiny' and it is annoying me. There, there's your hint of negativity to feed the beast.

If Sony was a 5 or 6, Gamefest a 6, then this was 8. Not perfect, but I was super happy to finally see Towerborne. Clockwork Revolution is going kick ass. Capcom game looked intersting. I will play the shit out of SoT Monkey Island and there was some other cool stuff like Jusant. I kind of wish we could see more of South of Midnight - Compulsion is super talented but I have no clue what kind of game it is.

honestly the biggest thing from this show was that oh look Xbox can compete for marketing agreements and it looks like they’ve landed some really good ones

I give it no Banjo Kazooie out of 10.

In all seriousness based on that list it does sound like it was at least better than sonys show.

I don’t mean to cause offence I just don’t think that show was anywhere close to be an A, if A means absolute peak perfection. That’s all I was laughing at. Not that you liked the games shown. Personally, I feel like even a B is generous but everyone has their own opinion (y)

For the record, I agree and that was my first thought when they showed SOT again, however I’m convinced they must have a scaled back team working on it at this point with most resources focused on Everwild (I hope).

Ok, but not the slam dunk it could have been.
That’s my feeling exactly. If they had some more gameplay in there (and avowed actually looked current gen) then it would have come across a lot better.

I’m only really interested in Fable but I have a very bitter taste in my mouth after that showing. Very disappointed. No gameplay, no indication of when.

That's my only issue.

I don't know if I am going to have time for anything else in 2023 other than Starfield.

It was OK. Some nice looking stuff in there, but not enough gameplay and lots of shit no one cares about (Fallout 76/ESO/Overwatch and... A Starfield trailer when there's a Starfield show right afterwards? Whyyyyy).
Better than the Sony show, which also suffered from not enough gameplay.

(not including the Starfield extended showing as that's kind of a seperate thing IMO)

Almost certainly the best showcase Xbox has ever had.

Fable, South of Midnight, Star Wars Outlaws, Payday 3, Persona 3 Reload, Avowed, Sea of Thieves + Monkey Island collab, 33 Immortals, Flight Simulator 2024, Hellblade II, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, new IP from Capcom with Path of the Goddess, Forza Motorsport w/ October 10 2023 release date, Persona 5 Tactica, obv Starfield, Everwild, Jusant, Dungeons of Hinterberg, Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty (w/ Keanu!), Cities Skylines II, new IP from Atlas with Metaphor, inXile's new game with Clockwork Revolution, Series S in black w/ 1TB storage, etc.. etc.. Literally something for everyone.

Tons of in-game and/or in-engine footage as well (although I would say Avowed looked visually underwhelming).

So much of it on Game Pass day one, too. Plenty of release dates/release windows shared as well. And very few interruptions. Just games.

I'm also going to give credit for the 4k/60 live stream. Why the fuck doesn't everyone do this?

Only thing missing was a "One More Thing..." announcement. Really couldn't have asked for more beyond that.

I voted "It was fantastic".

Just brilliant, getting Avowed and Fable as well as Forza, Hellblade 2 and Starfield.

Clockwork Revolution looked superb.

What time is it?
FS2024 being more focused looks wonderful. Yakuza, Persona 3, and Capgod's new game looks great. Starfield's scale and scope are impressive. Very good gets my vote.

It's a very good one per se, I am interested in quite a lot of the games. But we also have to admit the fact that Xbox really has to go through three barren years since this gen to pull off for 2024.
