Baldur's Gate 3 coming to PlayStation - Game releases on August 31, 2023

Wouldn’t be shocked if Sony paid for temporary console exclusivity on this…save for JRPGs they’ve been able to moneyhat or keep exclusive with their wallet (because it’s only bad when Microsoft does it), they’re very thin on western RPGs.
Safe to say they have.

I don't think this is a big deal for Xbox, they have at least 5 announced WRPGs coming exclusively.

A great get for Sony and a bummer for me as I don't have a PS5 atm and not planning on getting one anytime soon. I have no clue if BG3 is any good, but Divinity games were outstanding RPGs - I liked the first one so much I played it twice.

It's all good.
Xbox fans will have Starfield this year while Sony ones will have this.
Win-win for everyone.

Baldur's gate, the game that will save the PS5 in 2023.

PS: also, day 1 on PS plus extra, the best deal in gaming just keeps getting better

There it is. The dumbest thing I've read all day.
Well explain yourself young man. Why didn’t Sony claim this is a timed exclusive?

Is it a timed exclusive or are they hiding something from the regulators and trying to play victim lol.

If this game was timed exclusive, why didn't Sony announce it as a timed exclusive? Unless they are trying to trick the FTC, CMA, and EU commission that they don't money hat exclusivity.
Sony timed exclusives aren't always explicit about it during these kinds of presentations. If it's not a timed exclusive we will probably hear about it coming to Xbox eventually, once the Sony hush money deal is over.

Just finished Divinity OS2 on xbox with a buddy.

Will suck hard if it's exclusive. Was looking forward to playing it with him as well.

All Sony timed exclusives seems explicit. Can you name me one that wasn't? Also, seems like a waste of money to make a game timed exclusive and don’t announce it as one.

Lol Microsoft is trying to make ABK and, if successful, will make Diablo exclusive. Microsoft has already prevented Bethesda's WRPG from coming to PlayStation. Obsidian's Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2 will also not release on PlayStation because of Microsoft.

What else is Sony supposed to do? They are compensating for the loss of WRPGs on PlayStation via BG3 and KOTOR Remake. There will be more console exclusives on PlayStation as a reaction to Xbox's buying spree.

Buy Larian and put some effort in making the game yourself.

Moneyhatting 3rd party exclusives is extremely counter productive for the industry. Nobody gets anything except bragging rights for platform holder.

The money Sony gives to Larian also goes into production and porting.

Buying a multiplatform game is also counterproductive and gets nothing except bragging rights, as that multiplatform game would have released on your console anyway.

It's potato patato.

Sony probably got exclusivity for a year. They have no first party western RPGs announced or rumored, seems like a cheap grab.

Diablo's now a GaaS so i really doubt it'll become exclusive.

Agreed on the WRPG thing, tho this year they also have Final Fantasy and Silent Hill don't they? And next year should follow with Final Fantasy Remake, Metal Gear and Persona, these are safe bets, more than something specific to WRPG's it seems it's about getting exclusive deals for big games with big names, and exclusive marketing deals with way too big games to moneyhat like Hogwarts, Star Wars etc, which is a brilliant strategy if you ask me tbh.

There will be more console exclusives on Playstation as the gap between it and Xbox enlarges sales wise, as it's going to get cheaper to pay for these, and it's all good with me if they only pay against Xbox like with Silent Hill, Deathloop, Baldur's, KOTOR etc and not against PC too like with Final Fantasy :messenger_grinning_squinting:.

Sucks it wont launch on xbox. I have played the early acces on steam but I really prefer couch gaming at the moment. Hopefully they won't keep us in the dark and let us know if it's timed exclusive or not.
Devine Divinity on console was great so this should play well. Highly recommend this game!

Idiot : Hey MS can buy major publishers and take their stuff exclusive. Sony will be all good - it’s good for competition!

Also Idiot : Hey I’m angry Sony is moneyhatting games. Exclusivity is baaadddd!

This has really got to stop. So much twisting - it gets tedious.

Love divinity cant wait to play this.

This also shows me that sony is well aware that the WRPG’s have all been gobbled up by MS. They might not have made a big public stink about it like they are doing with COD but probably because they think they can mitigate it with money hats.

I expect them to try and do the same in the future with the whatever remaining big rpgs come out (dragon age 4, witcher, mass effect, etc)

Save Playstation from what? Broaden your horizon a bit. This developer has 2 out 2 very good games, very satisfying gameplay and lore. A proper RPG where you play your own character or a "hero" type character. This is also very beautiful and interesting game, just go check some gameplay. But if you are that worried about console wars then your Starfield will be trading blows with Spiderman not Baldur Gates.

The magic is lost trying to put a PC game on a PlayStation.
Did you have the same opinion when they released the DOS and DOS2 at consoles or you just found this game has ports? I have played both on PC and consoles and the only difference is the fine tuning/free camera movement you can do with a mouse than a controller, otherwise they are the same experience.

I bought a sex doll, but I keep it inflated 100% of the time and use it like a regular wife
