Hogwarts Legacy final previews have dropped

At the end, he says "Shouldn't it feel better than this?". He is implying you should feel bad.

No, he isn't. He is making the point that you SHOULDN'T have any conflicting feelings in looking forward to what - according to the previewer - appears to be the HARRY POTTER game fans of the series have been expecting. He is empathizing with the folks who are torn about their personal feelings towards Rowling and their take on her statements and their connection to the franchise.

When did such a minority become "the world"

When did Harry Potter become one of the "greatest" stories ever told?!

I give people a few hours on release day until they realize that the wrong avalanche studios made this.

Given what you've seen so far in these previews, I'm curious what has you nervous about this being the "wrong Avalanche."

Its the best selling book franchise ever. In what would you like your measurement of greatest stories? Also the books are vastly different than the movies. As usual.

In that case the Marvel movies must be the greatest films ever to grace cinema. Sales don't equal quality.

Saying they're one of the greatest stories ever told is putting them up there with works like Crime and Punishment, The Remains of the Day, 1984, and I, Claudius just to name a few off the top of my head. Pull up a list of the greatest novels of all time and I doubt you'll find Harry Potter on the list.

Even considering HP to be one of the greatest stories ever told, like it's some kind of modern Iliad, really triggers me.

You spelled Avatar wrong but yes.

Then tell me what is thd greatest Story ever told? I dont think you can measure that. Since its something different for everybody.

For some its maybe in fact HP because of the memories as s child. Or Star wars for others. 😊

Agreed, some people might consider it the greatest story ever told, but that doesn't mean their opinion is correct. It would be like me telling you that Fast and Furious 9 is one of the greatest stories ever to grace cinema.

The IGN piece was calling it one of the greatest stories ever told, as if it's some literary masterpiece and JK Rowling should be in the same league as Dostoevsky or Orwell. It's a fun children's fantasy series, but one of the greatest stories ever told? No.

Jesus Christ, can we just talk about the game itself instead of pulling in batshit crazy anti-trans rhetoric?

There actually seems to be a legitimately good game here, and one set in an incredibly vast world that has decent magical aspects to it. I knew that from the get go of this being announced it needed that open-world treatment, as this is one where it would be negatively impacted by any exploration restrictions. I'm just hoping it isn't "go here and take over camp X" rinse and repeat mentality.

Yea it seems weird as the field is there….maybe time issue or …who knows
It was definitely a matter of prioritizing what they could without creating a content creep. But also, quidditch that we know in the movies was not formally created yet by this point in Hogwarts Legacy (the 1890's). You can tell by the lack of hoops in the gameplay. They really kept everything up to source material.

If it was not created why is the field there or was it a different game back then. well we will see.
It was in it's early stages I believe. The golden snitch is actually based on a type of bird that they used to use instead of the ball. They would chase the bird around lol

Quidditch was already created by that point. It started around 1050, and it kept expanding until it was finalized in the game that Quidditch is now in 1883. Even then, the pitch (or the field for Americans) was the only thing that really changed between the early 1500s when the Snitch was invented until 1883 when the pitch was standardized. Either way, Quidditch in Hogwarts: Legacy is the same Quidditch that was in Harry Potter. The only thing that has changed since then are the advances in the brooms used.

What is great about the old Harry Potter games is that they have additional scenes not in the films. You can actually see the games evolve from being kid's games to mature games.

The films themselves were slightly abridged despite being nearly 3 hours each. Having watched the movies and read the books I would say about 30% of it was cut. Not near as bad as some other franchises but there was still some things missing.

The 3D modeling in the latter Potter games is pretty dated. There is definitely an uncanny valley thing going on.

If this maroon is reviewing the game, I fully expect him/her/they/them/it to review bomb.

Expecting no more than a 6.

Hoping we get a quidditch DLC at some point.
One of the previews, I think Australia's Press Start?, has an interview with one of the team members and asks about Quidditch or multiplayer coming in the future or DLC and the dev is very quick to say he doesn't wanna reveal or spoil future plans...

I'm looking for the experience of it so if it can immerse me I'll probably buy it, need to see more videos. As for the graphics, it passes just barely but i'll just crank it up, should run well on my system.

Excited for this game. Im one of those who adore the Books/Movies and really all things Harry Potter. Personally I think JK's views are crap, but thats up to her. I can still enjoy the Harry Potter world she created, while thinking she has a bad world view.

Also I watched IGN preview. It was fine. You guys are way too sensitive. If JK can have her thoughts on the matter, so can Ryan. He praised the game a whole lot. He didnt say dont buy it, he said he would understand if some had mixed feelings about it. Nothing wrong with it.
